Thank you for such a simple and straight forward approach to designing your pine. Much appreciated. Might think about standing on the left side of your tree to do the pruning while videoing to keep your pruning arm from blocking the view from the camera. Enjoyed.
I was in Phoenix for 8 years and the day I left it was 126 degrees....! You made a huge difference and your idea really came together when you did your final pruning. Some trees are a little confusing for me. I see so many possibilities. I have a Birds Nest Spruce (Picea abies 'Nidiformis') I have yet to shape but there are so many branches in such a small area..I'm not likely to over prune. I saw a video of a guy doing a Birds Nest and he removed every branch except for one at the top...I don't think that's right..take care, brother and keep making your videos..
Wow 126 is brutal, I had the idea for this plant for a little bit now and was just waiting for it to grow a little more. I haven’t seen too much of the birds nest spruce but after a quick search I can see what you’re saying, they do have some quite compact growth, creating a lot of room for potential, whatever you decide to do with it I’m sure you’ll be able to make something nice, if not right now In the future. Thanks for stopping by again man you take care as well appreciate your support!
Just saw your video regarding an Italian stone pine. This is my fourth tree, and like the others, the pines are curling up and dying. I live in Canada and have been keeping my plant inside. I dont know if that is the issue! Help??
I’ve never kept these inside so that could possibly be the problem, maybe the soil can’t dry out enough in between waterings causing root rot, make sure to check soil moisture, I usually water mine when they are relatively dry. I hope this helps!
Hello Tony, a pine you need to keep outdoors. It is way too dry indoors and conditions outside is its natural conditions. It will very likely solve your problem. Cheers! 🙂

Great video! I’m down the road in Palm Springs and our weather is basically the same as Phoenix. I hope your tree survived the summer heat!
