    Just a tip, not meaning to criticize:
    As a former military man myself, I was very surprised that you didn't use light sandpapering to remove those cuts and gouges. Especially since you're using a colored wax. That's how I kept from replacing my boots all the time.
    You can get a severely scratched up boot back to "inspection spit shine ready" if you very carefully just (like I said) lightly sandpaper those bad spots. A little too much and you'll get down to light tan raw leather but that's no big deal since you're fixing to use black wax anyway.
    The method you used in the video was excellent for sure but that one cut on the toe just sticks out like a sore thumb to me. But it's your Ariats and if you're happy it doesn't make one ounce of difference what someone else thinks about it. :)

    Also, with Ariats anyway, applying a bit of neetsfoot oil to the inside leather (unless they are cloth lined) really extends the life.

    I have had a pair of Ariat Boots for about 5 years. I wear them everywhere. Unfortunately, the leather was so brittle that they started to look like suede. These boots have had a lot of miles and just couldn’t part with them. I even bought a new pair but haven’t taken them out of the box. I found this video and followed it to a T and what do you know, my boots look like they’re brand new, with the character of being worn and broken in a bit. Thanks a ton for the help! Hopefully will get at least 5 more years out of these bad boys.

    Very good vid. You can also lightly sand out those rough, ragged spots, and the condition and polish. Makes it smooth!

    Good video. Sadly i tried this couple years ago. My boots didnt last. Ranch work is hard on them. So every month i use saddle soap and it helps pool water and manure. If the right boot i get year and half to 2 yrs. Laredo has been best for ranching. Very good video, enjoyed

    • @BtRct
      @BtRct  6 років тому +1

      shawn tyrrell Ranch work is tough on these boots. Its nearly pointless to do this on ranch boots which are every exposed to the elements. Better get workboots instead.

    Not bad! They came out nice! It would have been nice to have seen the sole reconditioned and the edges dressed. The leather sole after sitting for so long is surely dried out. Conditioning the bottom of the sole would have brought back flexibility and softness that you would definitely feel when you wore them. Just my 2 cents.... but they look amazing! Nothing better than a good pair of brown boots for everyday wear!

      Jason .-. Thank you, I actually just ordered another pair of Ariats last night. I've been trying to buy a pair of Ariat Sport Patriots for months but stores/websites didn't have them in stock or if they did they didn't have my size. Boot Barn finally got them back in stock online and they were having a sale.

      Eric Romero are Ariats worth it? I usually just buy Justins and tony lamas.

    • @BtRct
      @BtRct  7 років тому +2

      Jason .-. I would be lying to you if I told you that Ariat is better than everyone else. Its just my own personal preference. Tony Lama and Justins are also highly reputable brands of boots that have been around a long time. As long as they are comfy for you and you like the design, thats all that matters. Unless I see the boot shaft I usually can't tell what brand of boots anyone else is wearing unless it is Lucchese; those ones usually have exotic designs that stand out.

    I'm a reseller and sell plenty of cowboy western boots. i have a pair of cody james used boots that i've cleaned and shined but needed to see what to shine the shaft with and because they have embroidery on the shaft (i will also buy the neutral). as with my other western boots, they weren't as dry and drab as these are. i will be buying the scout kit. i thought those boots were a goner. :)
