Great review! You managed to cover everything of importance in a short amount of time and supported your claims with actual footage from the lens. My preference is to shoot with prime lenses for their optical and often mechanical quality. A month ago I purchased the S1 system with the 24-105mm kit lens because the 50mm 1.4 was a bit too pricy for me at the time and no other general purpose lenses were available. The results from this lens have really been great! A Nikkor 55mm 3.5 macro still holds a place in my collection, but this lens has more pleasing rendering and likely sharpness as well at close-focus ranges. The last time I tried the Nikkor was with a Sony A7rII a couple of years ago so don't take this for proven fact. One thing I can state for a fact is that this is the first time since starting photography (and collecting gear) 15 years ago that I consider buying a prime lens to accompany the "kit" lens as a luxury, rather than a necessity.
Only question I have is, why is Panasonic not making such a lens for MFT? I mean 12-60mm with constant aperture (maybe f2.8). Anyways ... great review as always on your channel! All important information with examples in a compact format without unnecesary blabla. Thumbs up! 👍
Fantastic review of the Panasonic Lumix S 24-105 f/4! I'm considering this lens with the Lumix S1. Since it handled the S1R sensor so well, how might it fare with the 24 MP S1? Also, have you tried it with the "High Resolution Mode", or either S1 or S1R? Thank you!
It can only be even better on lower res sensor as it won't accentuate potential flaws. High resolution mode takes 4 individual images and combines them into one digitally, the lens needs to resolve only enough for individual image.

Do Leica camera bodies also apply corrections to this lens? In other words, would mounting it on a Leica camera reveal any inherent flaws the Lumix camera body masks?
great! can you please compare it to Leica 24-90? I have a feeling that it would hard to differentiate the difference at f4 on both if not pixel peeping!

И на фото и на видео от 30мм до 105мм замечаю что он не имеет то ли рескости Толи ещё что-то но на фото на 105мм очень это заметно что на лице нет чёткости.. в чём причина может быть? Замечал ли ты Братухин этого у тебя ? Может это такой объектив от Панаса ? Подскажи пожалуйста...
It's an L mount lens for all MFT cameras, right? You say its a kit lens but it's over a thousand dollars! I wasn't expecting that. Judging from your review I'd like to try it on my G9 if I can. I know the G9 is more for still photos but I'd really like to start making videos and this lens sounds like a good one to have. Does anyone have any other suggestions for a good lens for making video with the Lumix G9? The 25mm that I have right now is super slow at focusing. Thanks!
A very common, pathetic slow & scammed children, beginners & amateurs. < medium format started it all by a slow F4.0 < then Canon/Nikon copied using F4.0 to sell to people < then Sony removed & paid all reviewers by NOT saying there is NO no scale/feet/meter window < then everyone copied Sony with lenses WITHOUT index data < many times F2.8 lenses are slow < companies knew that many are now shooting with cell phone. so don't be surprised with F6.3 lenses out.

Well, who knows... they have 12-35 f/2.8 and 12-60 with 2.8-4 so they probably think that's enough for people to choose from.

Can't decide what's better. Currently using the 12-60mm Kit-Lens, which I got very cheap.
If it helps you, I would pick 12-35. f/2.8 is nice to have and is even slightly smaller in size. For longer range I would pick Oly 12-100 f/4 PRO.

This is L mount only, you can't use it on the G9 or any other MFT camera.
