Thank you for the vid, just contemplating about turning my tele into esquire... Green wire + naked cap=surely good for demo purposes, but not a good idea for a finished product, it's mechanically weak. Just solder that cap to the body of the switch (I see the lug peeking) instead on pot. keep up the good work mate !
I use it with a high pass filter (resistor and cap) and either a 0.0022 uF (Broadcaster type) or 0.0033 uF (Telecaster type) cap to cut out highs. Great, highly addictive sound!
Hi... Great video! I'm looking for help on a related wiring diagram, Harmony H47... Single pickup 3 way switch. Positions 1-normal volume and tone; 2-pickup straight only volume no tone; 3-through a capacitor for a bass/wah sound. Any help appreciated.. Thanks
I call it "alternative" because of the piece of green wire I soldered to the cap as an extender. The standard wiring diagram says to solder the cap wire directly to the switch, but it wasn't long enough for that. I suppose "modified" would have been a better word than "alternative." But as far as the actual connections, it's the same.
@@NorthWriter ok thanks because I was confused. I wonder why Eldred at the fender custom shop made the Eldred Mod to get that cocked wah tone for what reasons for a telecaster? It must have been on some country album in the 50's or something I'm guessing
what I did was to and please read this correct it give you the most out of the tone .............. position 3 the dark tone I put a .015uf it can be very much like a woman tone to jazz sound without complete muffle .......... position 2 in the middle with tone knob I put a .0068uf on the tone pot and it gives me more wide selection of tones and the cocked wah sound on different caps........ position 1 I left alone just straight treble and very loud ........... this might work for you because .047uf in the dark position is kind of lame unless you overdrive it like all the time and .047uf on the tone pot is the same thing just very little adjustment ..............
Very cool! At some point I’ll crack it open again and give that a shot. I haven’t done much with tone caps, but I’m looking forward to seeing what sounds I can get from them!
You are my savior. Thank you.

Is a2 the pickup node. Or tone node.
What is the alternative Eldred Mod differ than the normal Eldred Mod network?

Let us hear the different tones...please.

Do you happen to have a wiring diagram for this. I am putting together an esquire with a seymour duncan BG1400 wound to 31k.
