Great instructional video. Just completed this mod on a old Squier Telecaster I had kicking around and followed your video. Made everything very simple.

Thanks you for this step by step. I was having the hardest time wiring my esquire but I watched and copied you as you went and it came out exactly as I wanted. Thank you

Very informative and professional. You should do a video on installing a 6 position freeway switch on a tele.

Estou fazendo uma maratona nos seus vídeos, são ótimos.
Aqui no Brasil não tem nenhum assim.
    Ainda bem que encontrei você.
    Thanks.

Perhaps the most thorough Esquire wiring video that I’ve seen so far. Are there any changes you’d recommend if I plan on doing this with a Seymour Duncan Hot Rail?

This is an awesome little video. Thanks for sharing. I do have one question though. Would it be possible to use a gibson style 6 pole switch, so that this will work for a les paul junior (1 humbucker) or a melody maker (1 single coil)? I've just never been a fan of the fender style switches.

Thanks for a most helpful video , could you tell me how to to incorporate and wire in a push pull volume pot to coil tap a telecaster pick up with three wires, also is it possible to add a treble bleed to this circuit, many thanks, keep up the good work

Just wondering how adding a small value cap is different from turning down your tone control knob a smidgen? I sae a Billy Gibbons clip where he does a basic 12 bar in that 3rd position that was just thick, beefy and down right mean. A better mod for me, would be how to get that 3rd position beef, without losing all the volume.

Actually the 1st position bypasses the volume by going straight to the jack... at least my did until a recent catastrophic accident took place, knocking the 3-way switch out of whack. I had to unsolder everything to get it back in working order, only now I only have tone bypass and not the volume bypass but otherwise is back in the original Esquire fashion so I'm happy about that at least until I get another 3-way switch for my bypass to be as it was.

I though the 1st bridge position bypassed the tone stack.NOT the volume. My question is regarding the capacitor is there a capacitor that would make the back or neck position more usable ?

Is there any reason you couldn't just attach the pickup hot wire to the bottom lug on the volume pot so that it was closer to where the ground is attaching? It's all jumped together anyway.

Thanks for this great video! Please may I just check..... does position 1 bypass the volume with this wiring diagram? Many thanks.

Use of copper alligator clips helps with not cooking pots and caps during soldering.

I am about to purchase the Classic Vibe 60s Custom style Esquire. It is obvious that pos 3 will require the Eldred mod. Due the wiring is already in place is it factual to say that all that needs to be added is a .047 cap to the tone pot?

I recently replaced the pups in my epiphone les Paul. With some dimarzio pups split coiled them at pushpull tone pots and I’m getting a wah effect I don’t want would changing cap value fix it

I watched the video which was very well done and clear for a novice lie me. I'm not sure what the Eldred esquire is supposed to sound like over a standard wired Esquire? Does it deepen the tone? The actual purpose of the vitamin Q cap? A deepened tone would be what I'm shooting for! I like the Luther Perkins type sound. Thanks so much! Tom

What's the purpose of connected 7, 8, and 1 to lug 4? And the jumpers from 5 to 3 and 6 to 2? Is that just out of redundancy as a failsafe? In reality you could just solder the pickup hot lead straight to the volume input lug and a lead to lug 4 of the switch, the lead from the tone pot to lug 2 of the switch, and the ungrounded lead of the .0047 µF eldred mod cap to lug 3.
    Am I missing something else?

The tone control in the middle position doesnt work. Connect the wiring like this in the video, just don't connect the capacitor (0.0047) in the first position. it must be because of that?.

Only problem i have, the volume only turns down a slight amount...not all the way. Why would this happen?

Bro... you don’t need a ground wire between the pots on a tele. Why do you think they designed the control plate to be metal? Do the test with a multimeter in the continuity mode.

    • @tonyevans9999
      @tonyevans9999 2 роки тому

Bro... because it's a 100% effective best practice to follow ground to the last point, rather than hope your pots have good uncorroded contact with your beer soaked control cover. So yeah, you don't "need" to until you do
