I think that Lego could have gone farther with a race theme.
Perhaps there could have been a Lego 9 volt race system we're perhaps something like a 9-volt speed regulator but could have been equipped with race controls of some sort. Or even perhaps head a mini speed regular handset that could be integrated with Technic parts or otherwise and just connected to a 9-volt power source perhaps a modified speed regulator that would have an auxiliary output would have been awesome.
What would be nice is if they had released an official nine volt power supply that would probably only be used to power things that are fixed in place to eliminate need for batteries or perhaps just lighting and others.
That's too bad that the Lego 12-volt system did not have a 9-volt equivalent for all the other Hardware that would have been awesome.
I hear there is a way to modify the 9-volt speed regulator for the trains to produce a constant 9 volt output in addition two variable output.
But probably the instructions are lost to time!
