    I'm an electrician and use this light on a daily basis for my trim out's in houses that don't yet have the power hooked up from the utility company. This is one amazing light! Great color light that's easy on eyes unlike others. One thing Milwaukee could improve on this light, is to make the clamping feature hold to 2" for the edges of exterior doors which are commonly 1¾" to 1⅞" thick. This would be most helpful in a residential house that has the sheetrock already hung because there are no exposed studs to clamp to.

      They have the m18 out which has way better battery life! The light can pop up and swivel around.

    Just saw this but this is an awesome light I have used on numerous projects ranging from RV fuse box, replacing a CO2 monitor on my travel trailer, work inside the closed spaced underneath the sink and bed and dinette seats (adding doors), suspension maintenance etc.
    Most of my M12 tools are dedicated to the Travel trailer due to size and variety of tools ranging from the wet dry vac to this and the installation drill driver. I also have used it outside at night when hearing noised, walking to the truck and going to a bathroom. It is a bit big and awkward for that, but works good at low lumens and when hearing something clicking it to the high lumens. It is seriously bright at that level. ...
    Great tool.

    This video is an excellent example of how to present a tool to someone who wants to know more about it and might want to buy it. You stayed on topic, covered all the salient points, and didn't have any distractions (such as pets or people) wandering in and out of your shots. I've been considering whether I want to get this M12 light or the similar M18 version. Now that you've put this light through its paces, I know that I would like to get one. Keep up the good work!

      Yeah, I really don't think any other manufacturer has a 10.8/12V line nearly as extensive as the M12 platform.

    I agree 100% that they did a great job designing this light. I've had mine going on 5 years and use it a bunch around the house/garage. But it also works so well as an RV/camp light because it is very rugged - water-resistant & you alway have an extra battery kicking around - just in case...

    Could see this being great as an area light for mechanical work, maybe paired with a handheld work light like the M12 Stick or one of their USB recharging lights for getting into the shadows and tight areas. Could stick it to your open hood and it should be at a great angle to light up the engine bay, or set it on the ground and it should shine right up into the suspension or other parts of the underside with the car jacked up (I don't have a lift).

  • @oldretireddude

    Maybe the minimum metal thickness recommendation has more to do with the possibility of the light's magnets bending a thin metal surface as it's being removed.

    Awesome review! Would it be possible for you to compare this light to Ryobi' s P720?

    • @DoresoomReviews
      @DoresoomReviews  7 років тому

      I haven't used the P720 myself, but just from the specs, it's almost twice as bright as this M12 Rover, and the Ryobi can run off of both corded power or the 18V One+ batteries. I love the compactness and light weight of the Rover though. I own the M18 2360-20 floodlight too which is a little more comparable to the P720, but I grab the Rover instead almost every time for fast projects.

    Hi. Thanks for the video. Strange question. Would you be able to tell me the voltage coming from the driver board to the LED plate? It has its own connector cable if that helps.
    Problem is mine got damaged, and the PCB board is beyond repair, but the LEDs light up on my lab bench power supply. I just need to be careful not to overdrive the voltage or current.
    Tried calling the company but they said its proprietary.
    Thanks very much.

    • @DoresoomReviews
      @DoresoomReviews  Рік тому

      I don't plan on disassembling mine, sorry. But I'd bet the driver board outputs a PWM 12V, since stepping up or down would introduce more inefficiencies.

    • @robb233
      @robb233 Рік тому

      @@DoresoomReviews That's okay, I understand.
      When I connected mine to the lab bench, I didnt get any current flow at all until around 12.5V, and much brighter at 13.5V, so I think there must be some step-up stage involved.
      From what Ive seen online, led drivers, usually involve some fixed-current output.
      Offhand do you recall the fully charged battery voltage?
      Cheers.

      They make a great budget price point tool with decent quality. If it's an oddball tool that I only use once in a while, I almost always buy Ryobi. Their drain auger, glue gun, and caulk gun are great examples.

    Is that groove in the handle really for twine?

    • @DoresoomReviews

      No plug for power, just an M12 battery unfortunately. It may be possible to cobble together an adapter by wiring a 12VDC wall wart to the light's power contacts, but you'd probably void the warranty doing so.
