Hello guys thanks to all of you! I have learned a lot through the valuable information you put in. I was really caught by surprise to see plenty of this fish. I will consider all your suggestions and thank you so much. We are too close to 1m subs and it's really a milestone for me because we started from zero. A million thanks to all of you. God bless you all!

I suggest placing a net below the pond so it is very easy to harvest and to check the fish if there are some predator fish that was able to get into the pond. You just need to raise the net for check and putting it back down below if done on checking. I suggest dividing the net into 3 or 4 sections so it is not that hard to lift and check

Hello sir Dexter, I have an idea you should try for the pond. I think you should try to put a net covering the whole pond but IN THE WATER. So when you harvest the fish you could just lift the net up & catch all the fish. So you don't need to go in the mud & burry any fish. You can just medium size stones to hold the net down in the pond I think. I think you should try this at 1 pond & see how it goes. Keep up the good work sorry Dexter.

Seems like a poor way to harvest the fish. Looks like they were dining from lack of oxygen and muddy water. Hope you did not loose a lot of your fish. Nets may have been better. Bill

    • @annhans3535

He just needs to add an aerator to the pond to inject oxygen into the water. All ponds should have an aerator.

nets are only used for Fish that can be eaten. For these kinds of fish, you really need to catch them by hand so their scales/ skin would not be scratched. Else, you wont be able to sell them for a good price in the market.

15:25 yes you need few fish nets( or bigger aquarium nets), so in the pound with low water you can harvest fast, and you can remove water faster and put only fish.

Dex i know that it's a mud pond, but perhaps a more solid ground upon which to stand would make harvest time much easier and certainly quicker. If solid ground is too costly then perhaps netting along the bottom which can be raised at harvest time is an alternative to consider :)

THANK YOU SO MUCH SIR DEXTER, YOU'RE SUCH AN INSPIRATION! ESPECIALLY TO US AS A JAPANESE KOI ENTHUSIASTS.THIS VIDEO IS THE REASON WHY I STARTED TO CARE AND RAISE A JAPANESE KOI FISH AND TO BUILD A MUD POND IN OUR BACKYARD EVEN IT'S JUST ONLY A SMALL POND BECAUSE AT THAT MOMENT WHEN I SAW YOUR VIDEO, THIS VIDEO, I NOW REALIZED THAT KOI FISH CAN LIVE IN A MUD POND BECAUSE AT FIRST I ONLY THOUGHT THAT KOI FISH CAN ONLY BE RAISE, CARE AND BREED WHEN YOU ONLY MAKE A CONCRETE POND OR DIY POND USING A TRAPAL. BUT NOW THAT I'VE SEEN THIS VIDEO IT GIVES ME HOPE THAT MAYBE SOMEDAY I WILL BE ABLE TO RAISE AND BREED A LOT OF KOI FISH. AS OF THIS MOMENT, I ALREADY ORDERED JUST 4 JUMBO KOI FISH FROM MY FRIEND, PUT IN MY TRAPAL POND AND ORDERED ANOTHER 13 LOCAL KOI FISH THAT I PUT IN THE MUD POND JUST TO TEST IF THEY CAN SURVIVE, LUCKILY THOSE LOCAL KOI FISH THAT I PUT IN THE MUD POND ARE STILL VERY HEALTHY AND ACTIVE AS AS WELL AS THE JUMBO KOI FISH THAT I PUT IN MY DIY SIMPLE KOI TRAPAL POND. HOPEFULLY BY GOD'S GRACE THEY WILL BE ABLE TO BREED AND MAKE A LOT OF OFFSPRING. ONCE AGAIN, THANK YOU SO MUCH SIR DEXTER FOR BEING AN INSPIRATION TO ME, AND I KNOW THAT NOT JUST TO ME, BUT TO THE WHOLE WORLD, TO ALL OF US AS A KOI ENTHUSIASTS HUMAN BEINGS. MAY GOD BLESS YOU MORE SIR DEXTER AND YOUR FAMILY, ESPECIALLY TO YOUR KOI BUSINESS AND YOUR UA-cam CHANNEL SO THAT YOU CAN CONTINUE TO BLESS OTHERS, ESPECIALLY TO OUR FELLOW COUNTRYMEN THE FILIPINO PEOPLE, THRU YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS IN BREEDING JAPANESE KOI FISH AS WELL AS RAISING FARM ANIMALS...

Nice dexter..it would be more easier to harvest if you did not drain the water..use net first to harvest the fish..it would lessen the stress of the fishes..would also lessen the work for people harvesting..you can't really harvest 100% of the fishes but it would also lessen fish deaths..and it would not require to fill the mud pond with water again..more power and godbless..

I think you should use bamboo or wood to make a few ladders / bridge movable, place it over the pond. You can support it with bamboo posts . You can lie down on the ladders and use a net scoop to harvest the fishes very gently and easier.
