  • ORCHID CARE: Why is my orchid dying? Well, yellow leaves on Phalaenopsis orchids mean its time to learn how to save orchids from dying! Yellow leaves on orchids are the #1 sign of overwatering orchids! Drooping orchid flowers and drooping leaves are another sign. This is true for both Phalaenopsis orchids as well as Cymbidium orchids! The key is in knowing HOW TO WATER ORCHIDS properly!
Learn proper orchid care and how to water orchids, especially "those" orchids in moss that are popular gift orchids and tend to rot! You will find out why you may have to repot your orchid in orchid bark instead of the moss.
FYI- The common name is "moth orchids" but many mistakenly call these orchid plants, moss orchids!
Phalaenopsis orchids or moth orchids are not complicated plants, they just look fancy!
Shirley Bovshown of EdenMakers shows you the basics for saving an orchid from overwatering and how to properly remove yellow leaves from your plant. If you watch only one orchid care video for beginners, this is it!

Thank you for this video but I realised mine died for year because they did not have enough water. So, I had to leave water and change it regularly. Strange...

Yellow leaves do not always equal over watering plus that yellow leaf was damaged so the plant was sucking the nutrition out of it not caused by over watering

    My potting Media looks fine.
but no root or new leaf development seen.after i repot from store bought in last 20 days .
The leafs are hard and i feel seeing twist its get dehydrated now.
Last water was on 30 jan night.
Now 0730 am on 01 feb and
i found media got half dry.
So in 2/3 days it shall need water.
Now i find water consumption rate is excellent.
This transparent plastic Pot has side slit and bottom has good wholes.
I cut all spikes from base before i repot.
this plant when un potted. it had 80% dead roots.
This was an experiment for my rice skin media having a layer with moss and above moss bark at the bottom.
Is this natural get bottom 4 leaf yellow ? What should i do ?

Hi there, Hamim! Usually yellow leaves can indicate an overwatering. Also make sure that your orchid is not in direct sunlight.

I bought a mini orchid (essentially a baby) but I didn't notice that someone or something had ripped the bottom half off with the roots and it was hanging on by a thread. There is only one root left attached to the actual plant. Any tips on boosting the plant or will it even survive with one root?

do you need to repot them right away after you bought them? Or do you wait until they are done blooming? Thank you!

    • @EdenMakers
      @EdenMakers  4 роки тому +1

Hello! No, do not repot the orchid right away. Wait until after it blooms and do not repot until it shows signs of this needing to be done. It could be quite a while before this is necessary!
