We knew the guy as the "commentator" and the "if you finish in 1st position... [dramatic pause] ...you will win the race" guy. This shows the real Will Buxton and how he's a true F1 fan and GET PAID BY F1 for being one. Next goal for PitStop, podcast with a team principal

I thought Will was putting on a dramatic effect just for Netflix but that’s just how he is. He naturally talks intensively but what he says and his comparisons draw you in. You can see why Netflix made him *the* guy to build up the storylines, the guy is made for it.
And I’m surprised they’re a year in and still don’t know as much as they do. But I think maybe I just went obsessed when I first started watching and dug out the old facts & stats of F1.
The first ever qualifying session I watched, I didn’t care nor wonder what the colors meant but by the time it was over that all changed. Just listen to the commentary and you’ll be able to figure out how quali works. Drivers being knocked out like a board game and the realization of the color’s significance all by the end of Q3 especially during the fight for pole.
Before you know it you’ll get triggered at the sight of purple, excitement rises and emotions spike. It all makes Qualifying so exciting.

Will, might be one of the absolute nicest people to talk to in the main F1 media room. I remember him posting on Instagram defending himself for getting emotional on DTS when he was talking about Romain Grosjean’s Bahrain crash. Because people were shitting on him for it. I’d commented on someone asking what the big deal was and Grosjean crashing had no impact on Will’s life. I went into a story about how reporters and drivers are like distant friends and went into a story about my time as a journalist for American football when I was in college and one of our star players went down with a career ending injury. Going on about how I was gutted because the guy had a shot at the NFL and how that could’ve changed his life and his daughters life. So on and so forth, but out of a random ass reply to a comment. Will went out of his way to like my comment and have a brief conversation in a comments section with me about the difference of covering a motor sport and American Football. I will absolutely never forget that and I respect and appreciate Will for being an absolutely wonderful person.

I’ve been an avid F1 fan since the Detroit GP early summer 1986 when I took a break from mowing the grass on a hot muggy afternoon and turned in the TV to discover this thing called F1 but knew nothing about. That’s when the turbo engines had nearly unlimited boost and made so much power the cars could spin their tires in 4th or 5th gear. I recall a lot of talk about Nigel Mansell who I was already a big fan of by the next race at Silverstone. You guys put the fun back into F1 coverage. What an absolute blast this was with Will Buxton who I had no idea at all how fun and funny he is! It’s such a breath of fresh air how non seriously you take your interviews and how you share the fun you’re having with us. I was so thrilled I couldn’t take a break, and I was having such a good time with you that it ended too soon! Can’t wait to watch more now that I’ve discovered you. As an American I used to not know anyone in my early years who knew s what the words “Formula One” meant. I think some women thought it was a baby formula 😂 but in recent years it’s no longer rare to be an American F1 fan. I remember fantasizing being a Williams pit crew member standing just far enough out of the way in team shorts and T-shirt (no safety uniform back then!) to not get my toes run over by cats whizzing past at up to 100 mph as pit speed limits was not a thing in those days. Nor were reliable engines that didn’t go up in a huge cloud of white smoke when the engine simply got tired of putting out almost 1 hp per cc at 5 bar, sometimes in a very strange concoction that only maybe somewhat resembled gasoline. Qualifying engines only designed to last four laps, spare cars, etc. those were some wild days, but not nearly as sophisticated as now. Garage is where very simple, usually equipped with folding metal chairs. No banks of computers. But it was just as addicting as could possibly be. I would tape a race on my Sony Betamax and watch it again a few days later from beginning to end. There was no social media, so it was the only way I could begin to get half enough. We’re so lucky now with all of the technology. I watched your podcast on my iPhone, which I will be watching many more to come from now on that I have discovered you. I have fun watching because you guys are having fun and will Buxton was having so much fun with you that I felt, like it was a far away shared experience! It’s going to be so much fun, watching you interview the different characters who are presented much more formally on the sky TV and through other media. It feels so alive and so real with you guys doing your thing in such an innocent way. thanks for being on UA-cam so that I can share in the fun and joy that is all the intrigue and drama of F1 with you guys every show now. I feel like a late comer that you’ve already done 89! Glad to be here feeling the excitement, which is probably going to be CRAZY this next season. Hang on!!

While I haven't caught all the episodes this season, for the ones I have, y'all slayed them. From noobs to good hosts with opportunities in one season, that is great. Congrats on the growth. As far as Will Buxton goes, top bloke!!! From the days of Speedvision (think that was the station that had the F1 contract for the US long ago) to now and still is a journalistic powerhouse. While I did not get to see that earlier episode with him, I love it that he was just so candid and himself and can casually drop some F, S & BS bombs and things flow (which he can't do anywhere else). The same can be said for all the other guest y'all had on.

My god the hosts of this channel really don't have a lot of F1 basic knowledge. Half of the stuff Will is talking is something these guys should know

Will thank you so much for being honest! He is either retiring or so full of himself he can't see that Williams and Haas were his only shot at staying in F1. You can't end such a disgusting two years with "I'm staying out for a better seat." Mate nobody outside the bottom teams want you. he fucked up his career and he should fire his agent/manager. The only possible reasons is that he has been promised a RB return because they're unhappy with Checo...which is hard to believe. If that was how he ended his career he deserves it. I lost all respect for the guy.

Dudes I’ve been watching F1 for 30 years and also like to watch your podcast. Sometimes sure I think whuuuut why don’t you know this but it doesn’t matter and also teaches even me to look at it from a newbie perspective.

Can someone give me the backstory for these guys? I’d never heard of them until I had the Crofty podcast suggested, but having watched that it was clear there was an existing relationship and they said they’d be working with him more next year - are they on Sky? I’ve tried looking online for something but couldn’t really see anything aside this podcast so it made it even more mysterious to me! And they also know Buxton, they have drivers on, but I can’t work out how they know everyone in the paddock 😂

This is my first time watching this podcast, and I’m just a little confused on these guys background. From the way they talk it sounds like they’re pretty new to F1, Will said at the beginning “you’re not rookies anymore” implying that this was their first year covering F1. How did they get so big so quick? How do they have such little knowledge of the sport even after a year of covering it? I only got into F1 in 2021 but I know about the budget cap, how much teams spend, the team bosses, etc, basically knowledge you’d have after 1-2 years of watching casually. But I’m pretty sure if I had a podcast about F1 with a bunch of subscribers, and had met the actual drivers and Will Buxton I’d probably be a little more well versed than I am now 😂

I remember them getting a moment to talk with sharl and carlos. I think from there they got some traction to shoot them really up. I think they are relatable if someone's a new fan. Cause they ask questions. Their reactions to some stories that most f1 fans know and for them it was their first time to hear those stories. It feels in person genuine. There's no politics, no hardcore technical stuff. Just talking.

@@talbotd27 exactly. They're not josh revell or driver61 caliber. casual f1 fan can definitely enjoy their thing. There's also been a lot of content from non drivers, from daniel's physio to the red bull mechanic. They got piastri too.
