Wow, I really appreciate this video. I've always wanted to have somewhat of a spoken english virtual tour of Pripyat. This video is beyond incredible. Well done :)
Thank you very much for sharing! I'm surprised how many concrete buildings are collapsing. I remember that day in April 1986 very clearly as a child. Greetings from Slovakia
I want to go there so bad. I would choose fall or late winter with trees being leafless. It would add the "creepiness" of this lonely town. But it sooo far away from my hometown here in Czech Republic. I guess it would take several days to get there and also get back to home. But it would be worth the athmosphere. I just like "lonely" and abandoned places like this. :)
+Mishkin You're only around one thousand km away from Pripyat. Which is about 2 days drive or a 1 hr 55 min flight to Kiev. That's' nothing compared to me.
I went here last week. Most amazing thing ever. My 2hrs worth of footage somehow got down to 40 minutes for the final video. U have to go here before you die!
Thankyou, I remember when that happened, I was 14, I remember thinking that the men who tried to cool it down after the explosion deserved posthumous Hero of the Soviet Union. It looks like it was a lovely place to live, such a shame.
Thankyou so much for uploading these videos , I've so enjoyed watching you tour round and inform us on towns and the history !! Yours., a very grateful viewer
It must have been a poignant and melancholic experience to walk around a silent city that used to be so full of life. I'm a huge fan of Russian design so I loved seeing the mosaic at the entrance to the Music School. Thank you for a wonderful tour, bionerd23.
Thank you for taking the time and risk to give us a video tour of Pripyat. I've heard the term "ghost town" a million times, but have never seen a real one....until now. I can't believe the complete and utter quiet in the town. There are no sounds other than an occasional bird. What a horrible shame. Russia can not deny the damage that was done here!
chaosdemonwolf1 But its the beauty of it, no one can control it anything can happened, even when the cards look set it can be changed in a instant. It's beautiful.
At just past 12:20 on the right there is a building with a beautiful, colorful mosaic up high. It looks to be in good condition but the view was far away. Any other information about that? Love your videos! I'm strangly addicted to them.
Very interesting video. I have seen many videos of Pripyat but with no explanation of what I was looking at, so this gave me a whole new dimension this place. Cheers.
radiation exposure is measured in seiverts over a period of time, i think their counters measure in usv/h (microseiverts per hour) but i might be wrong on that one, maximum risk free dosage in the UK is considered to be 20 miliseiverts per year, risk climbs steadily after that, but with minimal protective gear, good training to keep an eye out for contaminants and a healthy caution are enough to keep you safe in areas like they were in in this video. it depends on the situation really to how much you should be worried about.
That music school was so epic, because in Stalker Call of Pripyat they made an exact replica of the building. The auditorium even has the damn piano in it.
bionerd23 the things that you do are just crazy, like one of your previous videos with the hospital basment. Keep up the good work. #Chernobyl #Radioactive love your videos
the hand-colored map of Pripyat at the beginning was so freaking adorable and ironically juxtapose to the whole ghost town and deadly radiation that I had to loled
Thank for a fresh look at Pripyat. My morbid curiosity keeps me interested in its fate. Quite a long journey from NC USA for a pretty short visit to this enigma. Not likely I would visit there as I would rather see St. Basils for example if I make it to former CCCP.
I LOVE your videos! The things you've seen are so cool. I've always wished to go there. At least thanks to you, I get to see what's left. Thank you. :)
If it wasn't for all the radiation, this would actually be a nice place to be alone and relax your mind. Unlucky for me, this place isn't exactly next door, so I can't visit. Would really like to see this place in-person.
I'm very fascinated by this place - LOVED this video and think you really did a great job. You kept a directional perspective that was very helpful, went to the places I really wanted to see and showed me the things I wanted to have a more in-depth look at that other videos lacked. Your narration was also excellent and I LOVE your accent 😉. Sub'd to your channel and am about to go watch your other videos.
what do you mean when you say the stalkers painted the emblem recently? who are the stalkers? from what i know of the term stalker is either someone that follows you, or a videogame reference of people that go into "the zone" and search for stuff to bring back home and sell for lots of money. and seeing as you're not being followed and this clearly isn't a video game i don't really understand.
William Rost "stalkers" are people who illegally trespass into the "zone" without having permission. sometimes they just randomly stay there. sometimes they litter, which i despise. sometimes they do some cool stuff - like repainting the logo.
+Snafu The Sniper it's a term used in a soviet book, "roadside picnic" (Strugatzki). the book was written way before the Chernobyl accident. the game is based on that book and the real life Chernobyl exclusion zone. the russian term "сталкер" describes "a bold and knowledgeable person who goes to dangerous places, often leading others".
Great tour, very informative, I learned about Pripyat when i was a kid at school, I've always had a fascination with old abandoned places, Pripyat would be my first place to ever visit, I hope to go there one day, Its a long way from Scotland But one day i wish to visit, it would have been a incredible utopia like city by now if this unfortunate disaster did not occur, Very sad for those who lost there lives in the fight to contain the radiation.
It is really sad to me thinking about all the people forced to leave their homes, personal belongins, animals, etc toward an uncertain future. Will visit Pripyat one day. Thanks for the video.
i use to live in Pripyat i came back to pripyat wen i was 9 and now i live ther in an uncontaminated building prypat was once so beutifull said my mom but now its like a ghost town but i live ther :(
I always wondered how Pripyat would look like if somebody made a 3D model with no trees and only the buildings to-do a type of analysis on how long until a certain structure is in danger of imminent collapse.
Videoed in 2015, now 35 years since Pripyat was abandoned. Derelict buildings will become more dangerous to enter, full of decay, old furniture left to rust and rot
3:32 Did you really touch that thing? I don't know how much it is irradiated, but I'm sure as hell I wouldn't touch it, no matter what they say, especially with bare hands.
why does everyone say "people never returned to their homes"??? an ex citizen -in another documentary- stated, that after a few months, people WERE allowed to return, and gather belongings... not furniture of course... but like photo albums, or papers, some toys for the kids etc...
Sanyey well, "return" as in, move back in, and continue to live there as nothing happened. as far as i know, this was told to the citizens initially - that they have to leave for a few days as a safety measure, but they believed they can just come back and continue to LIVE THERE as before the accident. what you mentioned is also the case for Fukushima nowadays - people are allowed to go in and check their homes and belongings, but they are not allowed to move back in and LIVE close to the reactor inside the exclusion zone.
in that meaning of the word, of course they "never returned" :( as I like to argue, I had to add , that who wanted, could return for one last time ;) peace ;)

You know I looked up the name of that restaurant using google translate (used a Ukrainian keyboard and translated it to English) the name of this Restaurant is Restaurant. So creative
I hope they dont clean up that place because to be honest its really cool and they even destroyed the old chimney that was on the roof of the power plant that was the icon of chernobyl thats how i knew it was chernobyl, now when i look at the plant i see a orante and white chimney not the old one

Would love to see comparisons between this video and images/videos pre-1982.

Looking at this stuff, fills me with awe and sadness.
+Temmie_the_ho_master Funny how life can change so bloody fast. I agree, it is sad
chaosdemonwolf1 But its the beauty of it, no one can control it anything can happened, even when the cards look set it can be changed in a instant. It's beautiful.

Thank you for making these videos. I really enjoy them keep it up!
9:19. It looks like a projection booth was present at the back of the auditorium. I wonder what's left in there?
At 4:44 the geiger counter reads 36.01. I have no education when it comes to this stuff but at what reading should you be afraid?
This place is full of pockets of radiation, she is lucky

I was thinking it was a rather professional documentary until 04:00. lol
Right?! "What the fuck?!" 😲😩😒
The collapsed wall of the school at 10:00 is exactly the place, where you "save" Zulu the duty fella in Stalker-COP.
bionerd23 the things that you do are just crazy, like one of your previous videos with the hospital basment. Keep up the good work.

Why didn't you Rendezvous with Kovalsky in the Laundromat? And why didn't you bring a Svarog detector?
At 2:15 is that the hotel that the people in charge of the clean up ( Liquidators) stayed?

Stalker looks like fun.
weegeeslayer123 it is my fav is clear sky
After watching the movie chernobyl diaries, its kind of more creepy but i still wanna go there so bad
From the looks of it, in another 30 years time it's gonna be all forrest appart from a couple of building parts maybe.
It must suck to be the lone guard at night in that Pripyat checkpoint. SCARY as hell if you ask me.
Looks like someone has been scrapping the bumper cars for metal etc. Who knows where that contaminated metal ended up?
I spent so much time fighting beneath that ferris wheel.
Videoed in 2015, now 35 years since Pripyat was abandoned. Derelict buildings will become more dangerous to enter, full of decay, old furniture left to rust and rot
Holy crap, I can't believe some of those piano strings still work, even barely.
actually you can see how they removed the Ivory from the piano keys!
3:32 Did you really touch that thing? I don't know how much it is irradiated, but I'm sure as hell I wouldn't touch it, no matter what they say, especially with bare hands.
shocked the hell out of me when i saw the swimming pool on wiki....cod 4 pripyat looks JUST like this...i miss the old cod days :'(

Wow. Are all the trees that aren't Pine dead and bare year-round? Also, is there any good footage of Pripyat or pictures from before April of 86?
