My favorite thing about these is the unfiltered chaos they allow. Dempsey thrives in this and allows his personality to truly show.
💯 Agree. I’m watching Dempsey on the Copa coverage and miss his personality.
The single best thing CBS does.
McBride is such a class act and was an amazing player.
just a shill for the ussf, its sad he sold his soul
He is not Donovan or Dempsey, bruhhh
He epitomized everything great about the US men’s team of the past
He was a warrior and they haven't had a real number 9 since him
Which is one reason why it’s stupid to play a formation that requires a strong number 9
What an absolute LEGEND for club and country. One of the BEST Fulham captain the club has ever had in its history. It's mental to think that at some point in that era for Fulham, we had McBride, Bocanegra, Dempsey, Keller and Johnson on the pitch at the same time in the Premier League. That's 5 Americans. COYW! ⚪️⚫️⚔️
I just found this series. Watched the Eric Wynalda interview and then this one. Two legends, very different approaches. Eric didn't hold back at all. Brian was a bit more reserved. Both were great interviews. Ready for the next one!
@@alfiend331 I prefer Wynalda’s approach. It annoys me that Brian kept holding back and saying “I can’t say” or “idk” makes me think he still wants to be part of the U.S. soccer sphere and wants a job in the future with them.
I prefer people who have nothing to lose and just air it all out.
Keep bringing in the legends! Grew up the the 80's and watched all these guys
New subscriber here, I am loving these interviews of US legends 🔥
I know he didn't have the stats of Dempsey and Donovan but McBride is always gonna be my all-time USMNT favorite. Dude had a pub at Craven Cottage named for him!
I still remember his goal vs Portugal. Classy player.
Brian "That's a good question (but I don't want to answer it)" McBride!
Great man and excellent player in his day. 3G is still a question make for many of us but love the loyalty from Brian! A true gentleman.
one of my favorite older USMNT players to watch when i first got into football man. electric at fulham and for the USA
lol they kept Kate’s intro 😅
I love these so much, I truly wanna see Bob and Michael Bradley / Tim Howard / Jozy Altidore / Pulisic / Mckennie / Adam's / Landon Donovan / Cobi Jones
Jozy and Landon were already on
@cesnav7593 Yea I missed those, realized after I commented
Mentioning John Brooks but not giving an answer is disappointing.
This needs to be talked about more because Miles Robinson hasn’t delivered and we can’t use Ream for 2026.
Props to Mo for asking while Charlie is shilling for the Federation.
The timing of Miles Robinson’s ACL tear really sucked. He was playing great for Atlanta and the national team, looking like a lock-down starter in the World Cup for Qatar. Then he gets hurt, and I’m worried he’ll never get back to where he was. He was gonna get a big move to Europe right before the injury.😢
A full minute of roasting Kate 😂😂😂😂 the boys are unhinged 😂😂😂
Illinois Legend !!!!! Great to see you BMc !!! Thanks for all you've done for US Soccer, God Bless Ya Brother !! MJ Westmont IL
What’s the point of asking questions/having guests who don’t really answer questions
The Interviews are always so so so Good Keep it up y'all!
LOVE THESE!! Thank you so much for doing these interviews!!!
Classic no.9 ____ US ⚽️ Football legend. In my opinion, the best no.9 this country has ever produced.
i have been waiting for this episode!
He’s the essence of midwestern US. One of the best places in the world for the people.
M. "Greg is the best candidate"
K "How do you know that?"
M "Because I know the other coach options"
K "Who were they?"
M. "I don't know i wasn't part of the process" 😂😂🥴🥴
He is still toting the party lines.
Here's a fact. The PLAYERS trust Greg. They want to play under Greg. They look motivated to play for Greg. It shows. Why mess around with everything he's worked on over the years, now right. I mean, Why should USMNT replace what doesn't need fixing, just because internet football "managers" who watch sports behind TV screens, think their better at "FIFA manager mode" than those who've actually got their coaching licenses? Food for thought. 🤔
Much better flow to this interview. Thank you!
CBS, great episode.
Never knew McBride before, but now i do.
Kickin' it exposes everything behind the scenes man.
Never stop this show🔥.
And man, 3 world cups for McBride? Awesome
17:51 I heard McBride speaking and swore it sounded like Jocko Willink Navy Seal.
Great interview y'all!
#20 and one of my favorite USMNT players - Brian McBride,I love this guy ie. Great headers and his touches.
Awesome interview!
Was it, how many questions did McBride actaully answer?
Kate is now doing for CBS what Rebecca Lowe has for NBC over the last 10 years and she’s done a lot of good in promoting the premier league in America.
Mourinho said he was interested in managing USMNT, “everyone loves me, but they never call,” when asked about whether he would take the job
So basically, there is nothing Gregg can do to get fired 😅
He said Klopp on the quickness 🧐
I need season 3. Bring anyone from the current squad even GGG
CBS Sports, keep doing these, they're awesome.
McBride is so loyal to the crest to let any bit of information out and to support Berhalter but I can respect it. This is one of the interviews I wish was longer cause we don't hear from these guys enough
this guy was such a player. he made americans look good abroad. a pioneer and legend.
He is a US Soccer shill nowadays. Sad
Please bring John brooks on this show
Unless the US does exceptionally well at the Copa America, Berhalter needs to go. If they keep him, it shows they are 100% not serious of ever moving from the perennial mediocre organization. There is no greater situation the US will ever be in to attract attention from US audiences and recruit young kids to pursue this sport seriously than the 2026 World Cup on home soil and the focus of Messi playing in the US.
41:20 - What a difference 1 month makes.
A bit of a lackluster interview. McBride can't talk about Brooks. I bet it's a NDA. He's too close and beholden to USSF.
Whos Brooks? Can you give context?
@@lalomex1123he was a midfielder/defender for the USMNT during the Klinsmann years, he also played in Germany. He was one of the few players during that time playing in Europe.
What happened between Brooks and McBride?
@@moneyman2200it was understood that something happened between berhalter and brooks. McBride just can’t talk about it cause he’s part of the ussf in crowd.
I enjoy this show but 2 people I would like to see as the hot seat guest are Charlie and Clint. I want to hear them answer the tough questions because I believe they would incredibly interesting and dead straight honest. Put them on the hot seat and let their truth flow!!!
Loved Brian forever...and this was amazing, but I don't know about this head coach talk....I think the pro-GGG vs "others" (Marsh) is suspect. Just b/c he was a part of the "machine" at US Soccer (regardless if he was not "part of the process". Small thing....awesome interview.
after every show, i continue to want to see Eddie Johnson on this bloody show.
Berhalter isn't vaguely the best person. He wasn't qualified the first time, but his brother was an exec so no due diligence was done. Then he had a major mess up and didn't seem to learn from it, so shouldn't vaguely have been re-hired. The old boy network is the only reason he's still there.
That smile when she said “Pep!” They bombarded him with comments and questions. Why tf would we bring back Juergen?!
Just realized that was klop not klinsmen thank the lawd
Okay McBride, with respect to all your accomplishments, did you just say, "Gregg has done a great job"? Sorry, you've lost me, he's not getting the best out of these players, in my humble opinion. We're not going anywhere if that the case. Put aside Concacaf results, Gregg has not proven that he's capable of taking USA to the next level; I am sorry. We've just squeezed a win against Jamaica in the last CCC and he had not gotten any result from a worthy opponents on my watch; is that a great job?
And he vouched for Klinsmann at the end also lol
Honestly, given when he would have known when this interview would be released, do you seriously think he’d slate the coach right before a tournament starts?
He retired in 2006 and we still haven’t found a proper striker since 😔
Clint was the best striker in USA Soccer history and McBride would be my second.
Charlie Davies if he did not had his car accident, Jozy Altidore obviously and Folarin Balogun.
Counting Dempsey as an offensive midfielder.
@@thomaspatton4626 clint was more of a winger
@@adolchristin9837 davies was overrated
@@thecastleofenlightenment2604 maybe. We'll never know. But he was incredibly fast and received praise from the 09 Spanish team after the semi final won by the USMNT.
There should have been a part 2 this interview was too light.
Why is Brian not in the discussion for USMNT Manager? seems to be a strong leader, knows the game, knows the players, a clear determination to compete/win, knows how to motivate players, and has a clear work ethic... has he got his badges?
Bring jurgen and Donovan in the podcast, that would be wild 😅
BTW, Mo is talking about his goal that called got back from that terrible Mali ref (who eventually got fired) against Slovenia in 2010 WC. Yes we won the group, over England, but a win would've further solidified our lads confidence going against Ghana in the Round of 16 - maybe we beat Ghana..
3:10 What McBride is referring to here is Steve Sampson leaving Alexi Lalas off the 1998 World Cup roster, which forever embittered the fragile mega ego of Lalas against Sampson. Later on, when Sampson became the coach of the LA Galaxy, and then the following season Lalas was appointed the General Manager, Lalas predictably fired Sampson as his very first personnel move.
Dr. Bert Mandelbaum replaced my ACL! And that is pretty much the only thing I have in common with these USMNT legends, lol
He's the only striker we've ever had.
So underrated
Brian McBride pull your head out of the US Soccer backside. In what world is Berhaler the right coach for this team??? if you just look at the games against higher rated teams or pretty much any away game. This team has so under performed it's unbelievable. You and your comment are exactly why U.S. soccer has declined. You can tell yourself different, but seeing and hearing what's being talked about is not positive. Sorry but facts are facts.
It is his friend. He hired and backed him up.
Lost respect for Edu, laughing at Bruce Arena mentioning Eddie Pope, you would hope to be as good a player as he was.
Crushing it!
I remember McBride playing thru a match with a big gash over his eye…gushing blood
McBride the greatest aerial player in usa history. Portugal did not c what was coming. When we played against usa 70% of my ficus was preventing his headers.
Best US Striker of all time. They dont build them like McBride anymore
Wasn’t expecting that Carragher answer
The best striker in usmnt history.
Tim Howard is the only answer for USA all time GK
The one thing that McBride gets wrong is thinking that MLS has any chance of getting a top player in their prime. That will not happen until the level of the rest of the players improves dramatically. No top player will waste their best years playing in the minor leagues. Jude Bellingham isn't coming here until he is in his Mid 30s. Doesn't matter if they get paid big bucks. No legit footballer will want to play against players inferior to them. It will be a short career for them. In terms of him saying the quality having got to the level that will attract top players, I think 35 year old Lionel Messi answered that when he came and had the same competition as him playing against his 3 sons. The current top American players need to stay in Europe. They will only get worse going to the MLS. This is exactly what they don't want to do to improve. It is honestly so depressing to see how delusional even some of these former players are that are brainwashed about the US system. Nothing ever changes.
I think that he kind of insinuated that after talking about players no longer playing for their country if they did come over. I do think the mls has the potential to rival Europe but it is many years away. I think a start would be to have some champions league games over here. I think that would motivate more money to be invested in game over here. Let’s see what happens after 2026. 94 did a lot for the game here in the states.
Truth is we could probably have the best league in the world if soccer was our #1 sport here in the states. Gotta bring soccer to the hood and stop making it pay to play.
Only way it’ll happen is if MLS can scout the big name So Americans & try to buy a player and go is a year or 2 out from going to Europe
@@RickyRicardo84 EXACTLY!!! This is the point. I am a long time avid soccer fan and sometimes I feel like trying to find games on tv is like finding a needle in a haystack. The masses will never embrace soccer until they are able to watch it free like they can with American football, basketball, college sports, etc. The networks are doing next to nothing to promote a massive opportunity with exception to the rare World Cup matches, some Premier league games, or Copa America matches. If as you said, people in the hood, or just the everyday man or kid can't access it without paying for it, it will never take hold at the level the other major sports do. They also need to heavily promote it. It is a gold mine they are leaving untouched.
@@odb233 If I lived in Europe, supported my club and then they moved the Champion's league games to the US, I would be pissed. The US doesn't deserve them. They are doing nothing to try to grow the sport or televise it. The reason that US players that play in Europe get disrespected is because there is anger and irritation at how disrespectful and arrogant the US and their media are towards soccer. Would US fans be ok if the Super Bowl was played in China for instance? There is a ton of money out there from potential corporate sponsors, rich donors, and others that will go untapped until the networks (basic cable) take the risk and broadcast not just MLS games, but European games. Since Europe is 5-6 hours ahead of the US, it is no brainer because it does not conflict with the NFL broadcasts, or other sporting events. People won't invest themselves into something they only are exposed to every 4 years or occasionally when something is broadcasted.
One of the select few players that were able to elevate the status of American players in Europe.
So dumb to line up the women's and men's teams. The women's team should pay for itself as should the men's.
Completely agree. Should be based on revenue. It definitely handicaps the mens team for sure.
Equity over equality. I am all for fairness, but instead we have the men's side giving away their World cup bonuses to subsidize the women's team. And the men's team is handicapped in who they can hire as the coach as well. Really a nonsense decision. Equal facilities, sure. Equal revenue share, great. Equal treatment, amazing. But we ignored those concepts for PR
True. Hopefully they separate the two teams from each other.
They won’t.. they double down all the time.. look how colorful our jerseys are.
It’s one of these interesting things when people say ‘Ronaldo!’ Now my assumption is due to the Premier League being where McBride played, I do believe he is referring to CR7. But people have to be careful and realise that there are still some of us in a generation that will differentiate the two. I call the Brazilian ‘Ronaldo.’ I call the Portuguese skipper ‘CR7’ or ‘Cristiano.’
Am I right though to assume that this was CR7 that was being referenced.
Also, I remember watching the UCL stuff. Has Alessandro Del Piero taken up the invite and will he be on Kickin It any time soon?
Mcbride.... I can't think of a more Accurate header of the Ball .......Columbus Crew to Fulham
Mcbride is the best. Such a good interview
"What's the next leap for soccer in our country after the world cup?"
Soccer literally can't take a leap in this country because the USSF serves MLS owners rather than the actual sport. No leap will take place until and unless MLS and the Federation get neutered by a successful antitrust lawsuit. Then we start talking serious about open systems and converting the sport into it's proper form in the US.
I loved Brian as a player. I believe his grit was only second to Duece, but watching this show was a little disappointing. I still think he's great, but he answers or doesn't answer like a politician. Other than that, I appreciate the hosts for asking some tougher questions. Good job, good show.
We need Eddie Johnson on the show.
"How much do those cost, Kate? Idk Clint." 😆😆she knows.
Dang- Dr Mandelbaum really did do everyone’s surgeries….including mine and I’m a nobody!
He was right about clint getting the shaft
I expected more from this...total letdown...
McBride always classy and when he played he had a work rate like none
So sad to see him shill
I'm old so I remember the ball and all tackles. Now a yellow card half the time
"Greg is the best person for that job".
and we wonder why things are the way they are. These people are clueless.
"Berhalter is the best guy for the job" that didn't age well.
Greg is not the best person for the job, Klopp certainly is! #YNWA
Loved McBride. Looks and talks like Will Ferrell some times. Haha
Brian is one of the great #USMNT but too politically correct which makes this one of the more boring episodes
He is a company man for US Soccer... dude shills hard for them, which makes him very uninteresting. Good player but definitely a corporate company man.
@@Jstoney127 this is the sad reality and it leaks all over this conversation. All guys were hesitant to ask him any of the #USSF questions.
I mean he says Shaq Moore is one of the best defenders in the world 😂
Call major US soccer players, Hall of Fame US soccer players are shills for US soccer lol it sucks
Call major US soccer players, Hall of Fame US soccer players are shills for US soccer lol it sucks except wynalda
Obed Vargas :(
Biggest takeaway, the past USMNT teams were factioned. It feels slimy tbh to watch the "cool" group. I hope our new generation is more professional as we come to WC. They got fight. These guys are so obsessed, landon is vetter than clint. Pulisic is superior to clint and and Donovan.
Mcbride threw me off with his skin colored t-shirt. i thought he had his chest out and was perplexed
I love that u guys got some of the godfathers of us soccer lol you should try to get Cobi Jones!!!
The example of Messi is wrong. He was the greatest player of his generation, but the MLS didn't get him at his prime. This is a retirement league for too many players.
McBride is sooo wishy washy and horrible at executive decisions. He backs his friends and think GB and Jurgen are great for the USMNT. WTF, dont let this man have control of anything. Great player and that is it!
Cmon mcbride dont support greg! Hes HORRIBLE as a coach! Theres no way hes the best guy for the job.
Why would any top players come to mls in their prime…our national team’s not good - and mls level is ugghh at best uneven…
obed vargas 😢
Brain is cool, Kate is hot as sh*t and the boys are on fire. Great video. I remember watching Brian's first goal for Fulham against Casey Keller! It was actually on Fox Sports World that day. Great memory. Don't agree that Gregg is the best coach / manager for the team though. He's NOT and cannot get the best out of this team because he makes the game about himself and not the team. He's a Closer to Steve Sampson than a Bruce Arena and McBride knows it.
How does Brain McBride have no white hair! He's 51! lol
"Greg is the best man for the position".... what a joke.
McBride should not be on any more soccer podcasts, his constant shilling for berhalter is so cringy
