    What an absolute LEGEND for club and country. One of the BEST Fulham captain the club has ever had in its history. It's mental to think that at some point in that era for Fulham, we had McBride, Bocanegra, Dempsey, Keller and Johnson on the pitch at the same time in the Premier League. That's 5 Americans. COYW! ⚪️⚫️⚔️

    I just found this series. Watched the Eric Wynalda interview and then this one. Two legends, very different approaches. Eric didn't hold back at all. Brian was a bit more reserved. Both were great interviews. Ready for the next one!

      @@alfiend331 I prefer Wynalda’s approach. It annoys me that Brian kept holding back and saying “I can’t say” or “idk” makes me think he still wants to be part of the U.S. soccer sphere and wants a job in the future with them.

    The one thing that McBride gets wrong is thinking that MLS has any chance of getting a top player in their prime. That will not happen until the level of the rest of the players improves dramatically. No top player will waste their best years playing in the minor leagues. Jude Bellingham isn't coming here until he is in his Mid 30s. Doesn't matter if they get paid big bucks. No legit footballer will want to play against players inferior to them. It will be a short career for them. In terms of him saying the quality having got to the level that will attract top players, I think 35 year old Lionel Messi answered that when he came and had the same competition as him playing against his 3 sons. The current top American players need to stay in Europe. They will only get worse going to the MLS. This is exactly what they don't want to do to improve. It is honestly so depressing to see how delusional even some of these former players are that are brainwashed about the US system. Nothing ever changes.

    • @odb233
      @odb233 3 місяці тому

      I think that he kind of insinuated that after talking about players no longer playing for their country if they did come over. I do think the mls has the potential to rival Europe but it is many years away. I think a start would be to have some champions league games over here. I think that would motivate more money to be invested in game over here. Let’s see what happens after 2026. 94 did a lot for the game here in the states.

      @@RickyRicardo84 EXACTLY!!! This is the point. I am a long time avid soccer fan and sometimes I feel like trying to find games on tv is like finding a needle in a haystack. The masses will never embrace soccer until they are able to watch it free like they can with American football, basketball, college sports, etc. The networks are doing next to nothing to promote a massive opportunity with exception to the rare World Cup matches, some Premier league games, or Copa America matches. If as you said, people in the hood, or just the everyday man or kid can't access it without paying for it, it will never take hold at the level the other major sports do. They also need to heavily promote it. It is a gold mine they are leaving untouched.

    • @CG68810
      @CG68810 3 місяці тому

      @@odb233 If I lived in Europe, supported my club and then they moved the Champion's league games to the US, I would be pissed. The US doesn't deserve them. They are doing nothing to try to grow the sport or televise it. The reason that US players that play in Europe get disrespected is because there is anger and irritation at how disrespectful and arrogant the US and their media are towards soccer. Would US fans be ok if the Super Bowl was played in China for instance? There is a ton of money out there from potential corporate sponsors, rich donors, and others that will go untapped until the networks (basic cable) take the risk and broadcast not just MLS games, but European games. Since Europe is 5-6 hours ahead of the US, it is no brainer because it does not conflict with the NFL broadcasts, or other sporting events. People won't invest themselves into something they only are exposed to every 4 years or occasionally when something is broadcasted.

    "What's the next leap for soccer in our country after the world cup?"
    Soccer literally can't take a leap in this country because the USSF serves MLS owners rather than the actual sport. No leap will take place until and unless MLS and the Federation get neutered by a successful antitrust lawsuit. Then we start talking serious about open systems and converting the sport into it's proper form in the US.

    I loved Brian as a player. I believe his grit was only second to Duece, but watching this show was a little disappointing. I still think he's great, but he answers or doesn't answer like a politician. Other than that, I appreciate the hosts for asking some tougher questions. Good job, good show.

    Biggest takeaway, the past USMNT teams were factioned. It feels slimy tbh to watch the "cool" group. I hope our new generation is more professional as we come to WC. They got fight. These guys are so obsessed, landon is vetter than clint. Pulisic is superior to clint and and Donovan.

    The example of Messi is wrong. He was the greatest player of his generation, but the MLS didn't get him at his prime. This is a retirement league for too many players.

    Brain is cool, Kate is hot as sh*t and the boys are on fire. Great video. I remember watching Brian's first goal for Fulham against Casey Keller! It was actually on Fox Sports World that day. Great memory. Don't agree that Gregg is the best coach / manager for the team though. He's NOT and cannot get the best out of this team because he makes the game about himself and not the team. He's a Closer to Steve Sampson than a Bruce Arena and McBride knows it.
