Microsoft Flight Simulator somehow hasn't put a B-17 in the game yet. Not even a public mod. I think a ton of us are VERY happy to finally see one in development. Great job MicroProse, keep up the good work and thank you in advance!

There is the Boeing 307 Stratoliner - a limited production pressurized airliner version of the B-17. Definitely not the same plane but its a great fit for MSFS since its civil aviation focused

A2A have abandoned the Warbirds that made them for small private plane models that everyone else makes.
Man if only they put this much effort into the remake they did too

It's called DCS (Digital Combat Simulator) and it's brilliant ... you'll never touch the crappy microsoft product again!
Unfortunately some of us can't afford a computer that can run DCS effectively

@@eddiegroover1917 Yea, I completely understand that, it is quite a demanding game and very expensive, at least once you buy the modules, they are yours forever. I've used an i7 7700 with a GTX1070 for over 6 years, but it is demanding.

How about MS make a new Combat Flight Simulator? It's been 22 years since the last one! This looks really nicely made and I know a lot of people would love to fly it in some combat missions.
Best place for that is DCS still, would love to see a fleshed out sim from MS
@@CondorTheBird You only say that because that is pretty much all there is currently. CFS was a great game back in the day, and so was the OG Crimson Skies on PC. A remake of CFS would do well in the market and would put IL-2 on defense, and give DCS a run for its money.
@@CondorTheBird I do love DCS. Since last winter it has been about the only game I have been playing! The F-4E has been so much fun to learn! I picked up Fighter Combat: Tactics and Maneuvering by Robert Shaw to hopefully get better in my flights.
@@ImpendingJoker DCS is pretty amazing. I have really been enjoying how deep and complex learning the craft can be. IL-2 seems really great as well but I have a harder time figuring out how to make it as fun for me because I am dogshit at dogfighting lol.

This was my exact thoughts sitting in the Flight Sim Expo seeing it release...
I think we're entering a flight sim golden age in mid 2024. New sims announced. New products announced. FFB sticks making a comeback. VR making leaps and bounds. Legacy developers getting back into the game. Continually opening up to the wider console ecosystem.
Only downer is the Razbam-ED situation. Otherwise, it's a good time to be in the hobby!
I have a mighty need. I hope there could be some WWII scenery for MSFS from MicroProse also.

Warbirds are nice.... But when you can't do what they're meant to do in the sim, they just feel like flying airshows all the time. Folks who get these must love their Warbirds.

Great News can't wait. On the other hand, I really enjoyed the WWI Flight sim from MicroProse called ! (Knights of the Sky)👍 for PC Released in 1990, I wish they would do a remastered version with great Graphics. You could also challenge the German fighter aces in that game.
Knights of the Sky remake and a new Silent Service would be insta buys for me.
I love MicroProse. I have their Atari 400/800 games on floppy, and many on DOS 5/6 also. I just wish this was for X-Plane. I started on MSFS but it's too flakey. I love the realism of X-Plane and switched completely about a decade ago.
Added to a wrong game, MSFS is totally wrong place for this. DCS is the way

I think new third parties would shy away from DCS given the current issues with RAZBAM
@@BradRaulston There is So Much Effort being put into Smashing All Information on the subject and then all the Major Pro DCS Streamers getting early Free early access to all DCS Models helping to Squash and Smash All Free Speech and Thought that stick up for RAZBAM for it to Not be True. You are Right. The DCS Forum is run with a Iron Fist Squashing all Criticism about DCS way of doing business from Model Control to Patch work. Very Sad but True.
very excited to retire my converted B17 for this beast 😊 looks very detailed for VR and detailed in general. I and many others are very excited for this!
I really do appreciate MicroProse doing this as an addon for MSFS, but i can't for the life of me wonder why do this right now? I'm sure HEAPS of fans are waiting for the Bloody 100th and updates to the Mighty Eighth Redux. Some of us are waiting for the VR version of Mighty Eighth. Hopefully MicroProse isn't stretching the team too thin... I personally am waiting for the arrival of the bloody 100th.... For now, the Redux satisfies my urge....only barely.
Please concentrate more on the Bloody 100th.... please...

Looks great, but I spend 90+ percent of my time in the cockpit. A shot or two oft that would have been nice. If it's not ready for prime time yet I get the omission, though.
I wonder if this is being done to drum up interest for their own B-17 game. People will fly it in MSFS, then want to drop bombs, so they'll buy the bloody 100th game.

Wow! This was unexpected! It's a travesty that it's taken this long for someone...ANYONE, to bring the B17 Flying Fort to the MSFS franchise. And it looks like Microprose will be the first to do it...kudos to the team!

If you guys can achieve A2A quality then you may be able to stamp yourself into the MSFS market. I am looking forward to this, but I have high standards coming from the A2A B-17.

Im still hoping to see pacific air war 1942 redux one day with graphics remastered at vga or svga , nothing better than taking on 9 zeros over PNG , or coming in a final approach at ~100 foot to the looming superstructure of the Yamoto at dawn praying that your torpedo would work, the flak could be avoided, and you wont get jumped trying to get back to your carrier.
The gunner position with ai pilot on the 2 seater models and ability to jump between planes was great, the dive bombing was great. some of the more realistic physics were pretty brutal and made the game substantially more difficult but you could still succeed if you were careful. The career mode just excelled for its time, I don't really feel anything till perhaps red baron ii / rb3d could best the overall experience that was delivered with the microprose release of pacific air war 1942.
Not sure about MSFS 2024, but you will be by yourself in 2020, since there is no multicrew.

I'm positive you could make a third party mod that simulates flying into flak, where you have a big group of people fly in a pattern, and a random dice roll determines who dies and when as they make the approach to the target. And then only 1/3 of you get to go home to land.

I hope this opens the door for more communication between the Devs and the Community about the bloody 100th and TM8th VR. This looks absolutely stunning❤😍 I will love this aircraft for ever because it is my fav of all time!

This is an addon aircraft for Microsoft Flight Simulator. A pure civilan sim with absolutely no combat. They don't even allow modelled weapons on warbirds in their ingame Marketplace.
Ok now do it for DCS.
I spent way too many hours in that game trying to understand what my grandfather went through. Not until I flew in a real B-17 did I get a taste of what it was like to fly in a plane made of tissue paper walls. I cannot imagine being under fire or being hit with flak. Insane.
No sim or game could ever help us understand what it was really like.
