Also a quick flight over for example North Korea will show pretty busy streets for a country where children are literally playing on main roads of the captiol city because it does have such low traffic irl. Not to forget that they probably wouldn't even provide car data at all and that besides such countries, that wouldn't share car information of the public there are also still a lot of cars around all over the world that would probably be way to old to be tracked without them just using external GPS devices or anything.

People that believe in the last myth really have no idea both about game development and how msfs works at all. The time setting feature in the game doesn't affect the buildings and scenery in the Sim in any way therefore WTC doesn't exist in the vanilla game, therefore there's no reason to code a auto ban when the condition cannot be fulfilled without modding the game. Furthermore, msfs doesn't even have collision detection with scenery objects, only with the ground.

I think I should really clear the air regarding the ‘September 11th ban’ myth. It is only on the 2002 edition of Microsoft Flight Simulator, and exclusive to the VATSIM network, a group of multiplayer servers dedicated to making flight simulation as realistic as possible, by enforcing realistic pilot-ATC conversation and absolutely no goofing off (Not your PTFS ‘American 191 cleared for taxi and takeoff’ bullshit) and there is a decent chance it’s still in effect on VATSIM to this day in the later versions to safeguard against unsavoury pilots. Hope this helps.

Like another gamer who has commented, I owned a super-early version of the software and used to fly between the towers as my standard flight plan when taking a "Sunday drive" around New York. (My standard flight plan when touring Chicago was to fly from the lake to O'Hare and try to land there. It didn't usually work out, so I nicknamed the game "Crash Simulator." At least it got a laugh out of my wife.)

Not all places are modeled into the game. I went to Móron air base in Spain for a military thing, got on flight sim to fly there and the whole base is blurred and the air field is non existent.
I remember back around Christmas 2001 (2 months after the attacks) we were at my Grandpa’s house and he has MSFS2000 on his computer and my family were having a debate about various conspiracy theories about 9/11 and my one uncle said that inexperienced pilots couldn’t have accurately hit the towers only for another uncle (who is not a pilot) to pull up flight simulator and promptly and easily fly an airliner straight into one of the towers 🤷🏼♂️. He didn’t get banned, but then again it wasn’t connected to the internet and my grandpa may not have even had internet at the time and if he did it was dial-up…

I tried visiting the DMZ in Korea and was extremely disappointed. It doesn't even resemble satellite imagery like it was purposefully scrambled, which is odd because if they don't want you seeing it in a game, why can we see detailed satellite imagery online? Lol I mean you can even fly into Pine Gap which is almost modeled perfectly and I'd argue that's more sensitive.
South Korea hate satellite imagery of their country, there's been times when it's almost completely blank on Google Maps, though I think it works normally now (and did in the past, even streetview, though has been bizarrely "censored" other times). They also photoshop trees over various buildings

You need to fly a boeing 767 with american airlines retro livery with same weather, time, date, twin towers installed, and have exact flight plan of the actual flight to get banned.

I don't know if it still exists. But there was an official port of flightsim for at least android. It was really clunky and to fly anything other than a Cessna it required you to pay, and it wasn't a cheap cost. So it wasn't really worth it.
To cause a Streisand Effect and make people that never thought about that, attempting to recreate it? If you tell people not to do something, that has no real consequences, they are often more inclined to do it. There is literally dozen's of examples out there, like people trying to cancel shows because they think the contents are offending to them, just for so many people to watch the shows, just because they've heard about it from scandels. People that wouldn't have watched them in the first place, because they wouldn't have otherwise heard or thought of watching it. Also, isn't this a single player game? Why trying to limit what one does in a single player sand box game. It's not affecting others.
They recreate other events in games WW1 WW2 so I don't think this will get you banned. It's a fake plane using a Google map not like u actually stole a real plane. They recreated it in GTA V. It's a simulation a what if. It doesn't dipict current events.

The sub base in Georgia is mostly blurred out part of it is visible though.
