About the cat thing: when they lay on their backs with their belly exposed, it means they feel safe around you. Because their belly is the area they have to protect the most. So if you rub their belly, even when it is exposed, they won't like it, and they will have the instinct to attack you. So please don't take it personally. I'm sorry you and Andrew were hurt though.
