So, I made a mistake by calling Bette Midler by Miller instead which was a habit. It was an honest mistake and I am human. Sometimes people get upset at the most basic things. LOL.
No worries!
Thank you for honoring her
She doesn't oversing this beautiful song.
Some people will be introduced to Bette midler by watching your channel so you should do your research first.yes your human and you get things wrong.we all are.i appreciate you owning your mistake.if getting someone's name wrong is a basic thing to get upset over then you don't mind if someone gets your name wrong time after time.
You need to see "For the Boys". It is from the movie about Janis Joplin.
The Divine Miss M a singer way before she became a actress.
Watch the movie
OMG i love it! I’m a child of the 80s (born in ‘82) and Bette Midler and Elton John were my original musical loves back in the day! I too loved that she did singing, movies, and theater. She is certainly a beautiful gift to this world and deserves appreciation. Glad I came across this, I’m new to your stuff but I love that you’re out there uplifting other people, we need so much more of that in our society. Anyway. Spot on and good review for the Divine Miss M!
When she sang Wind Beneath my Wings at a live 9/11 tribute, all of Yankee Stadium was in tears. Check out her performance of "Stay with me Baby " from the film The Rose.
Thank you. You really need to see the movie.
She was in the chorus of We Are The World, too. She has a huge heart. She's been an avid supporter of gay rights since way back. She started out as a pianist/singer in gay bath houses back in the 70s. She's super cool and genuine. And her smile is just magnificent. She did a fun film called Big Business. Very cute.
She is underrated bad, she is great, her voice will give you chills
Hello Patrick!! Love Bette Middler! This song is from the movie THE ROSE and her performance earned her an Academy Award nomination. The character is loosely based on Janis Joplin. Bette gives an amazing performance so I highly recommend you to watch the movie with buttered popcorn!! 🍿🍿
Hi Debra! Happy Monday!
Yes!! I’ve been a huge fan of Bette for years. I totally forgot she recorded music as well. But, what an incredibly amazing gift she has. I loved this performance. I will check out that movie for sure. I don’t think I’ve seen one bad movie by her. 😎
Love the movie also. This song was my wedding song.....in 1981! Wind beneath my wings was played at my Mother's funeral.
@@awordfrompresidentpat1985 love bette to
@@awordfrompresidentpat1985 The Rose is amazing but not an easy watch. For me the best way to describe it is frenetic, but if you love her acting watch it.
Great movie! Well said Debra!
Your facial expressions say it all.
She's been performing and making records since 1972. She was a singer long before she started making movies. She had a special Tony for her shows on Broadway in the early seventies.
Makes me cry everytime I hear especially the live version
My Mother passed away 3 years ago and she introduced me to Bette Midler as a child in the 80's. I woke up this morning and this song came to my mind. I looked it up and your reaction came up. Your reaction is exactly how I reacted years ago. Thank you for sharing!
Amazing, I was 2a5 yrs old when I watched BETTE MIDLER'S movie ""The Rose""!!! 1985 was the THE YEAR OF GREAT & INCREDIBLE MUSIC 🎶🎶🎶🎼🎼🎼❤️🖤❤️💛🖤💛

Ahhhhh. The Devine Miss M. You have a lot of material to go through. This song was always a favorite of mine. It tore my heart out when I saw the movie. Also, don’t forget to watch the movie “for the boys“ there’s some wonderful music in that
Truly underrated 😪 💯 beautiful woman singer and actress xx
I just noticed when Bett sings her face never stops smiling. One of my favorite songs.
I just love that movie and Bette Midler! Great reaction
Love bette Midler. Beautiful voice and a brilliant actress 👏 ❤️
Bette Midler's "The Rose" is based on the life of singer/rocker "Janis Joplin"
Wow. Such a voice
Thank you for your eloquent reviews. Bette Midler is great, I've been a fan since the 70's the "Divine Miss M" You should listen to her rendition of 'Do you Wanna Dance' and 'When a Man Loves a Woman'. I also like 'California Dreamin' ' Poetry Man' and 'Simply Beautiful' by Dana Owens (Queen Latifah). May I also suggest two other females with outstanding voices: Karise Eden, and Judith Hill.
If you have never seen this movie, please give it a watch! The Rose was her film debut in 1979, and she won a Golden Globe and recieved a Best Actress Oscar nomination for the role!
This song is from the movie, "The Rose" which was loosely based on the live of Janis Joplin.
She has a beautiful voice and a talented actress. Love her.
This has always been an emotional song for me. Always cry and at the end get goosebumps. It cuts right through me. 🌹💕❤
There is a wonderful version of her singing with a lady dancing as well.
Bette was a singer way before she started acting. She is magic.
I live in Australia. Where were you? I own her music and later her movies.
It's okay ty for your reaction -- yes you're appreciated.
thank you for letting us hear her beautiful singing and not cutting it off every other line. she is such a wonderful singers.
I must be OLD, because Bette was a singer long before she was an actress. Heh. Check out Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy. Fantastic!
Bette Midler is soooooooo vastly underrated as a singer. She is so talented
'Met her once in Nashville. She was staying at the Hermitage Hotel where I managed food and beverage, right across the street (diagonally) from the Tennessee Performance Arts Center. She was lovely. Simply lovely! SO nice! And I took the night off to go and see her. Her show was mind-blowing! What a great experience...
OH YES the Divine Miss M One of the best female ballad singers that ever lived.
never seen that performance thank u awesome love her acting she makes me cry and laugh awesomeness Amen
You really need to hear the studio version of this one.
Beaches! Cried like a baby
Let's do Bette and Stay With Me Baby (vintage video) and make ourselves nuuts!! You must!! You simply must! ❤️
I sang this whilst on a cruise round the Caribbean..love it I do..
Definately watch the movie “The Rose” for which this was the theme song. The movie is based on the life of Janis Joplin. Bette was nominated for the Oscar for Best Actress and won a Golden Globe for her performance. THere’s a very good reason she was known by the title “The Divine Miss M”
This is from her Academy award nominated performance in the rose which was loosely based on Janis Joplin

PATRICK AS EVERYONE'S COMMENTS SAY YOU HAVE WATCH THE MOVIE THE ROSE 1979
UNBELIEVABLE PERFORMANCE. 💞
Love Bette's version of this song. She has a great voice and also did a wonderful job of acting in the film "The Rose". I do hope you give her back her proper name of MIDLER next time you react to her music.
Thanks much for today's reaction.
Her live shows were hilarious and tear jerkers all in one. Her first accompanist when she started out in The Baths in NY was Barry Manilow.
Pat- she went out in her 70’s with a Best Actress in a Musical Tony for her spectacular turn in Hello Dolly.
She’s also a huge environmentalist and has contributed greatly to creating neighborhood flower and veggie gardens all throughout NYC.
I would recommend the video of her singing to Johnny Carson on his show’s last night- so great it won an Emmy.
This performance here was more subdued compared to her others.
I love this song and the studio version is amazing. I wasn't crazy about this version, to be honest. I think that she's probably just tired of singing this song but I've heard her do much better than this.
Agree. Studio version is very moving and expresses the feeling the song deserves.
I believe she tried to "make it hers", instead of Rose's.
That’s what I thought too.
I totally agree with you. The original version is on UA-cam. Just type in The Rose Bette Midler original. I love that version. I used it in college for a presentation.
Oh no, she is not a singer or an actress, she is a true performer. You should see her dance. ❤️🧡💛
Pat, she was in the film, "The Rose", loosely based on Janis Joplin.
Watch her sing "Stay With me Baby".
always had a major crush on Ms.Midler.. don't know what it is....her and Ms. Streisand ...oof.... make an old man smile.. :)
I remember watching that performance, I believe this event was celebrating the establishment of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. A great and very appropriate song for the occasion.
Listen to from a distance!
Ms Bette Miller came to fame in the US by singing in mens bath houses and growing a huge, devoted fan base on her way to her first love, which was indeed acting. So, in the end, she got to have it all and we got Her!
There are so many great songs by Bette Midler but one of my favorites is when she sang " One for My Baby" on the final episode of the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. It moved me to tears and Johnny too. Check it out.
Really?? Aww. That’s a must. I HAVE to check that out.
🙏🏾
She won an Emmy
Wonderful !! on the Bucket list !!
For the Boys is the movie you need to see is with James Caan. The Song, "Stuff Like That There".
Also used in the movie that was Janis Joplins live
My favorite 🤩🥀🥀🥀🥀💜❤️💕💯
I feel her original recording is much better. I love her voice also.
She started out as a singer.
Her song, Hello In There, makes me cry. It's from the concert Art Or Bust, which is brilliant ... do try to see it.
Bette is an Icon !!!
I'd rather hear you react to the studio version. So much better!
I highly recommend her version of "When a man loves a woman" from the movie "The Rose" and even more "Stay with me" from the same movie. A lifetime performance !! ua-cam.com/video/scMAwJGVYA8/v-deo.html
Thank you. I’m gonna check it out. 💯🙏🏾.
My favorites by her us Wind beneath my wings and from a Distance
Love seeing your face and that you get and appreciate her and her talent.because this was live she got to ad lib change notes, tone from the original way she sang it.it was good but not the best.try listening to the original recording or with the film the rose it will get you much more emotional.
Great one
Big Bisness hysterical movie
Fun fact: Jenifer Lewis (black actress) used to sing backup for Bette Midler
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
i love the way you do your reactions, have you ever reacted to Pentatonix you would love them. You would have to distort the video they will block it. Take care and be safe. Let us all love each other.
Actually it comes from a bio picture based on the life of Jason Joplin
Definitely check out her movie "The Rose"!
Bette MIDLER. lol aka The Divine Miss M
About Janis Joplin. Came from the movie of the same name.
Modern Renaissance, watch the movie " The Rose" it is loosely based on Janice Joplin's life, it will blow you away, it was in 1979
The song came from the movie called the rose.
Listen to Bette Midler singing the Beatles song “In my life” you won’t regret it
MIDLER-
I believe the person who wrote this song did it in only a few minutes from listening to a radio show question about what you would compare love to.
Better version - ua-cam.com/video/jxvPjuREDpE/v-deo.html
Need to hear I Shall be Released
Hi Patrick! Bette Midler is a great singer, you should look "Come rain or come shine", For the boys, the film 1988...available on UA-cam...TERRIFIC! Comment...
a friend of Québec, Canada.
Thank you for not yakking through the song. God bless.
He name is Midler ..not Miller
I honestly didn’t even realize I put Miller. Thank you so much for pointing that out me. 💯🙏🏾.
Bette Midler BEGAN as a singer.
"The Rose" is a film loosely based on the life of Janis Joplin.
I thought the Rose was about Janis Joplin.
I don't think the song has anything to do with Martin Luther King Jr., perhaps the event she was at did. Her "From a Distance" is beautiful.
I think he was referring to the tv special she was singing this on.
Definitely not the best version of this song from her. But oh my still great. You just listen to it originally. She has the most amazing voice! So much talent. Her voice ! Her acting! And boy is she funny too!
It's bette middler
Lou Rawls sang before your time, perhaps 😀
The rose was pet meddlers first movie Loosely based on Janis Joplin must watch must watch
You know the first movie she was ever in was Hawaii and she didn't sing on that one she was just an extra.

The original movie version, or soundtrack version is stronger, ESPECIALLY when you know the storyline. If you don't know it, think about Janis Joplin. About when a torn person, who's been fighting for the right to be herself all her life, is finally about to have a revenge, to show the people in the hometown, that she has gotten successful, by being HER, or so much "her" she managed to be. The pressure she feels, the nervousness, the anxiety. How will the hometown audience react? What will they think? And suddenly the amount of soothing and calming "meds" became too much.
Just when she has the chance to bloom, to shine... The bitter snow...
Her name is Bette Midler, not Miller.
The Rose is a tribute to Janis Joplin
Like someone else said, this is definitely not the best version of this song. Maybe it’s because I’ve always loved the harmony as well as her voice and the harmony was mostly cut out, as well as the motion I usually feel.
un hommage a Janis Joplin
I'm..um Gay and happy -- even tho both parents And My Cat died in 2022
Check out the original from Janis Joplin
Hi,love your voice, but it sounds as if you said wing beneath my wings and your title days better Miller, and you repeat this error many times, keep striving it's good ,thank you
