    I’ve got 6 of these, use them for work. I’m a self employed builder so I don’t use them every day but they get a fair bit of abuse when I do use them haha, 18 months in and they’re still ripping like day one. Definitely worth the money, as you say, you can get 3 for the price of one dewalt battery. Great video mate, thanks for uploading. 👍🏻

      With me I have an actual visceral reaction to seeing the DeWalt battery prices when I'm the big box stores. I walk down the aisle, see the price, then blurt out, "Oh come on DeWalt! What are they? Gold bars?" Thanks for watching Brad and make those cars last baby!

    Been using my 5 AH Wheatley batteries for 3 years. Brought 4 of the 5 AH 2 packs. No issues, they run about 80% against Dewalt factory 5 AH batteries.

      Thanks Art, mine have worked great. I'm up to 4 batteries now... 2 6AH and 2 9AH and they're terrific. 1/3 of the cost of the DeWalts, and great performance. Thanks for watching. I hope you're a subscriber and make those cars last baby!

    Personally I've seen people using these batteries in a mitre saw all day and they never fail to hold a charge and deliver the power they are absolutely worth the money and I'm even considering selling my dewalt batteries to buy more of these

      Thanks Joe. Yes, if I could have 3 Waitleys or 1 DeWalt OEM I'd take the 3 Waitleys. That said, head to head I think the DeWalt's are better with their LG cells or Samsung cells... but at 3x the cost and at the risk of buying a fake... no thanks!

    One of the reviewers on Amazon took a 6AH Waitley apart and the cells are labeled as 2000mAH each, meaning 2 rows equals only 4AH batteries. He also did a capacity test and yielded 91% of the 4AH. He concluded that it only has 61% of the 6AH labeled capacity.

    • @TheSwitzAutomotive
      @TheSwitzAutomotive  Рік тому +3

      I haven't seen that but I don't doubt it. Quality control and consistency of manufacture could definitely be an issue. But the bottom line for me is that I can buy 3 Waitley's for every one DeWalt, and they last a long time. Thanks for watching!

      @@TheSwitzAutomotive Yeah, it's definitely a great value compared to OEM. And there are other UA-cam videos praising the Waitleys compared to other knockoffs. It would be interesting to compare the rating of the 18650 cells used in the older Waitleys against the newer production to see if they have changed to cheaper less robust cells. Although I'm not sure we could trust the labels on the no name cells like we could on Samsungs and LGs.

    I ordered some of these batteries. I am sure they will work just fine. I use a 1/2inch impact every day as a mechanic and i beat up batteries. I found that the cases on all these knock off batteries are not as durable as oe. However compared to dewalt they last just as long as in overall service life and tend to be just as much power. For me out of all that I have used as a professional auto tech they last about a year. Even dewalt, especial if u use a sawzall much. I have a off brand that has lasted almost 2 years an just died recently.

      @@TheSwitzAutomotive I use a variety of tools. Harborfrieght, Gearwrench is honestly one of my favs. Craftsman, snapon, mac matco etc.. some things are better some thing s it doesn't matter. Snap on screw drivers tend to fit better, my grearwrench wrenches work are great, my harbor freight impact sockets i have had for 10 years. Lisle is another good brand specialty tools I tend to find on line like pullers etc or parts store bran work just fine too

      I run all dewalt as a flat rate tech. I find them a way better value than what is available from the tool trucks. Unfortunately if I drop a gun it's usually the battery that dies so I'm trying these waitleys.

    I agree with your opinion, I have two 20 v Waitley batteries for my Dewalt drills and I've had them for years. Are they as good as Dewalt batteries, no. However they are about almost 1/3 the price, I use them for home repairs.

    THANKS,,, For a good review!
    30, 35 years ago, I bought my first Craftsman drill. It came with 2 batteries & work light. I built a 30 x 40 2-story barn & 2 sheds with that drill,,, & the original batteries were still going strong after many years of service. After, when I did need new batteries, I just bought another drill set.
    Seems like, The batteries got worse with every purchase! Now I have 4 Craftsman drills & work lights sitting here & all of them are in need of new batteries.
    I search everywhere for 'Waitley' batteries that fit these craftsman drills. ?? NO CAN FIND.?
    I have 8 DEAD Craftsman batteries here.
    Who makes the best cells? ( so, maybe I can try to rebuild some of these Craftsman cases)

    I bought a 2 pack of their batteries for my M12 Fuel, I really just needed 1. I don't use the impact often, but I hate sitting around waiting on the thing when I do need it.
    Second battery always insures I have one to use, even if I need to charge the other. For that alone it was worth the cost, I probably should have bought the smaller battery though.
    The stubby is nice, I like it, but mine came with a 4mah battery, which is perfect for 95% of the time. But 5% that bottom hanging battery gets in the way when I need to work on suspension.

      I got a set of these last night. Exact same size and weight as the Whaitley that I bought around 5 years ago that is marked as a 5.0, also the same part number. I have a brand new 4.0 XR that is larger and heavier. The 6.0 dewalt I just got is significantly larger. I should test all 3 batteries and compare them

  • @freedomiseverything2767

    Lithium ion does not like heat but you would get the exact same thing the heat issue with the DeWalt DeWalt use the same manufacturer cells which are apparently Samsung the housings are different and a charge controllers are different the downside of the Waitley is the plastic housing on their battery.
    There is no glass fiber reinforcements.
    And Whiteley batteries especially with non-flammable brake clean do not hold up well.
    From experience though keep that non-flammable brake clean away from any plastic regardless.
    If you want to reduce the heat honor tool go with a 9 amp power the amperage by 1/3 increasing the surface area reducing the amount your battery heats up percentage wise for cell lengthening service life off the battery.

  • @The_Story_Channel
    @The_Story_Channel Рік тому +1

    I would like to know what cells are used, not that it matters greatly if the run time is good but even if the run time is a bit less, it does not really matter because of the price tag.

    • @TheSwitzAutomotive
      @TheSwitzAutomotive  Рік тому +1

      I think they are just high quality generic cells. I believe Project Farm opened them up and they were not LG or Samsung cells used in the DeWalt OEM batteries. So I have no doubt they are using inferior quality batteries, but they appear to still work well. If you can buy 3 Waitley batteries for every 1 DeWalt battery you still come out ahead if the cells only last 50% as long. Thanks for watching. I hope you're a subscriber and make those cars last baby!

    • @TheSwitzAutomotive
      @TheSwitzAutomotive  Рік тому +1

      Exactly! The great thing about buying cheaper stuff is that it costs less and you have lower expectations. So instead of buying that $100 DeWalt battery I buy 3 Waitleys. And if three years later you're still using 2 of the 3 you'll feel like you got away with something. Now, granted, I wouldn't try to use cheaper batteries if I was a professional. Seems silly, if you invest in top quality tools, to gimp them with crappy batteries. If you shop the sales and specials, you can get the actual DeWalt (or whatever) batteries for not much more than the Waitleys- After buying my DeWalt stuff, I found a deal where I got 2) 2Ah batteries and 2) 5Ah ones for $129. That's FOUR DeWalt batteries...and the 2Ah are nice where working space is a an issue, or when you want to keep the weight and bulkiness of the tool down. Torque Test channel did prove that the Waitleys were better than the other cheap batteries...but still paled seriously compared to the DeWalt ones.

    • @demoniack81
      @demoniack81 7 місяців тому

      Yeah well, here in Italy the price of ONE 5Ah Makita battery (90€) is enough to buy nearly FOUR waitleys and I've never seen them on sale. Only the sets with a drill and 2x 3Ah batteries ever go on sale, and assuming you don't need 17 drills even with those you still end up paying 90€ for a 3Ah battery.
      I just bought a set of two and if it works I'll be happy to use these in my drill and save the wear on the original Makitas.

    Well now I am going to presume you've had some wondrous experiences with others. Much obliged for this :) As a home DIYer with a 2ah I am in the market for a bigger bat as I have to drill through my walls here for an outflow pipe, fed up of recharging every 5 minutes but also am dirt poor so looking for a best bang for buck over expensive DeWalt, good batteries and all, good warranty too, but very expensive.
