    Finally. I can install the milling machine next to the baby crib.
    Seriously, I didn't think it'd be possible to make them that quiet. Nice.

    Yes, this type of tooling has a better dampening effect than solid carbide. This dimension of boring bar used in this application has a special dampening mechanism to counter vibrations. BR / Heinz Götz-Werner, Application Specialist General Turning

    nullifying sound is one of the most important things when machining, and it's cool to see steps taken in making it happen.
    I always thought that silencing of tools and parts would be easiest to achieve by live treating machining space with inverted sound waves. The effect is known as Active noise Cancellation, and it is already used in commercial electronics.
    I do wonder if it would work on machines.

      I could only take that as sarcasm, and I respond by saying... It's the lowering of vibrations in the process that are the target. The fact that it is scarily quiet as a result is only a byproduct of great engineering. The silence just represents a fantastically smooth cut.

      actualy ive seen something similar. They installed something similar to a speaker directly to the spindle. But not to make a inverted Sound waves, but inverted waves to the vibrations on the machine spindle.

    We are working on this problem.
    For example; before it leaves the workpiece, each swarfette is fitted with a special dampening mechanism of 352 oscillating hydraulic rams that guarantee zero sound emmissions by the process of inversely proportional ratio of flop versus wongle.
    Furthermore, the giggle pin is separated from the laughter shaft by 2 degrees.
    For noise, there can be no escape!

    Y claro. Para la porta pastilla, ayuda mucho que la que vibra, lleva muy poco corte. Y la que no vibra lleva mas profundidad de corte. Siempre que vibra es cuando los cortes finales lleva poco profundidad(1, 0.8, 0.4mm). Vibra porque vibra. Cuando se está desvastando, no vibra la barra. Pero para una medida de poco corte, ahí es cuando se reconoce el tornero.

    But how is the block of steel for the milling demo setup? Because the machine is a nt2000 from mori?
    Did you make a table or fixed it on the turret?

    Ap conversation is wrong on milling tools. Should be .05 and .1 roughly, not .005 and .01. Good demo!

    the cutting speed was WAY to low for the Inserts, Cutting speed should be around 150 to 200 M/Min for the Roughing and 250 to 300 for the Finishing(at the turning)
    Yes i use the Sandvik Inserts for Steel

    Is it just me, or is the tool flexing a whole lot at 0:47 ? Is this as stable as a conventional tool in that regard?

      Hi Patrik,
      There is actually no difference between a damped and undamped tool when it comes to static stiffness. However, with the damped adapter the dynamic stiffness is much greater eliminating vibrations.
