    HAPPY SENEGALESE INDEPENDENCE and welcome to the first episode of my WOLOF class! This first episode is called Nuyoo - Greetings. To celebrate the independence of Senegal this year, I decided to put this Wolof class together to with the world :).
    Starting from April 4th, I will be posting a Wolof class online EVERY DAY for a week. Each lesson will consist of a video on UA-cam, a blogpost + downloadable syllabus/worksheet on senegalesetwisted.com and some additional info on my Instagram. The video will start with a dialogue and afterwards, I will break down the dialogue. Definitely go to senegalesetwisted.com for the lesson materials. If you have any questions, go to my Instagram, where I'll be giving you the chance to ask me anything! Let’s get into the first class: Nuyoo! - Greetings.

    just discovered you. I find your class easy to follow. I was born in Senegal, lived in Rufisque ( Tangueje). Last time I visited was 1996. Still have families there. Since I just followed your 2 yrs old lesson, I wanted to ask you to help the non-Wolof speaking guests to understand the words better by transcribing the major words while you speaking. It would be a visual and listening video for all. Good job and thank you

    Salaam malekum, I have a question. So when asking how’s your family I hear people ending it with “gi” or “gu/ga”. What’s the difference, if there is one?

    • @SenegaleseTwisted
      @SenegaleseTwisted  8 місяців тому +2

      Wa Aleikoum Salam! That’s a valid question! It’s just a difference in pronounciation, but not in meaning. So you can either say for example Naka wa kër ga or Naka wa kër gui but it means the same! I think it derives from the other ethnic groups that also speak Wolof so for example someone whose first language is Pulaar may say it different than someone whose first language is Sereer. Just like how Gambians have a different type of pronounciation that may derive from them being anglophone and not francophone like in Senegal. Hope that helps!

    Salut.
    Bon moi je pense que tu devrais mettre ici la transcription écrite dans les deux langues que tu vas utiliser, anglais-wolof, ou français-wolof, ou espagnol-wolof....,
    Beaucoup d'entre nous n'avons pas le temps d'aller consulter le matériel écrit ailleurs sur Internet.
    Le plus efficace pour moi c'est d'avoir tout ici, la grammaire, les phrases, les conversations, mais toujours avc la transcription écrite dans les deux langues pour pouvoir répéter et pratiquer l'oral et l'écrit simultanément.
    Tu devrais utiliser la transcription écrite dans les deux langues dans tous tes vidéos, pour bien aider les Européens qui veulent apprendre le wolof, et au même temps les wolofs qui veulent apprendre la langue européenne que tu utilises pour expliquer le wolof, l'anglais ou le français ou celle que tu préfères...
    Voilà, c'est juste mon avis personnel.
    Je cherche des cours de wolof complètes et bien structurés sur UA-cam, avc un enseignement progressif de grammaire, phrases, conversations, dialogues, ....de plus a moins...et franchement il n'y a pas grand-chose, en général ils ne sont pas très bien développés...

    • @SenegaleseTwisted
