Thanks for sharing your story and letting others know sobriety is possible. Congrats on 7 years, 8 mo. That's something to hold dear. I've lost more friends than I can count and by the grace of God I'm still here through addiction to Oxy and other pain meds.
During the last few years i had some major random act of violence against me where I was given pain meds in the hospital but leaving I knew that prior PTSD and this most recent incident that taking the pain meds at home was a recipe for relapse. I know I would have been risking over a decade. I was also in a car accident that should have killed me 9 months prior to being attacked. My orthopedic Doc and other 2 doc's all did "pain management" which is pretty much weed cards and "30s" based on everyone talking in the waiting room. I told the primary doc from jump, no opiates. He looked surprised and said okay, never asked again. The 2 other doc's asked once each and never asked again as well. They asked about a MMJ card which i said no for multiple reasons. A. Gun owners cant have MMJ cards, B. I lose my ability to carry and clearance for some contract work. Plus I haven't smoked in nearly 20 years. Not for me.
We all settled on low grade, non narcotic muscle relaxers as needed which i fight thru the pain of torn up back, neck, knee, ankle, and wrist fractures down my right side.
Surviving this accident is truly a miracle. I missed being crushed by a falling 100 ft tree driving on a clear night. It crushed the entire vehicle and missed crushing me by inches. I had a nasty concussion I'm still getting headaches from that nearly 2 years later from the roof catching me as I ducked. My GF skipped the ride 10 mins before or she would be dead. The roof was on her seat.
You're absolutely right that we are where we are supposed to be. My GF and I say "Everything as it is meant to be". Even in the hospital after the attack that again should have killed us both was something we took in stride and have tried to help each other through the PTSD symptoms. I can't get into much of the attack as it's still a legal issue.
Congrats again on your 7+ years and work you're doing. I guarantee you are going to reach kids with your message. I never realized the severity of the reckless shit at 16-17. I see dudes who I was in school with at 18 who are nearly 40 now and still are fucked from stupid crimes, violations on probation and snowballing crimes to feed addiction. This is 20 years later they're still in the system which is nuts. I'm happy you didn't fall back into using when losing your Mom. I see a rapidly declining health in my Mom over the last 4 years and it sucks to watch.
I am blessed to be here and not only have my partner who never has used but has an understanding of addiction who is supportive in this and my business but also we have leaned on each other throughout the struggles with sleep and anxiety from the attack. I feel horrible for her since this is her first serious run in with PTSD and I've been working on it for 7 years in therapy, I went back almost a year ago to get ahead of the last events. I'm trying to encourage her to go because I want her to have some safety in her mind and not be "on" 24/7. I know she needs to do this on her on with support when she's ready.
Loved the video yoo! But just throwing this out there, acid is actually what got me clean. I was day trippin alone in my room and I started talking to myself. I said "I'm on drugs. Wow, I'm really on drugs. I don't wanna be on drugs anymore" and I cried for like 4 fuckin hours lmao. But ever since then, I quit doing all drugs except weed. Then eventually dropped the weed too.
This guy is very smart and well spoken.
Glad that you dont interrupt the guest when they talking, ya just let them tell their stories and sometimes ask them a question or to explain something
I never get tired of hearing your story, Louis. I’m proud to call you my friend. 💙
Excellent episode. I’ve had one hell of a life I don’t remember most so it’s so amazing to hear these episodes and the details are on point. Wish I could do it!
Thanks so much!!

@@ClipsCrazy__bro he’s got enough on his plate let alone responding precisely the way YOU want him to lol not to mention he does respond to some comments. You sound weird. If you really want to talk to him send him a DM, he has said many times that he responds to DM’s easier than comments on a video
Hey much love for the shout out to Truckers! I'm a proud Locked in Trucker🤘🏼
Appreciate you!!
I only listen and don’t watch podcasts while I work also. I restore old cars to new condition. I started off detailing for 15 years and then it just got to oversaturated so I went to the next level and learned how to paint, fix interiors, paint, wheels, restore, headlights, do small body and engine repair.

Maybe it’s just me or it’s him speaking through his throat …. But I can’t stand it 😊though I want to hear this story.
@@shariacook640 it’s probably you, but let me re-listen to the video again and see if I can relay it to one person out of 1 billion people
McGruff the crime dog is who you where thinking of Ian. His line was "Take a bite out of crime".
Scruf mcgruff chicago Illinois 60652 oouu lol I remember😂
Faxxxxx 70's Baby ctfu
They say you have to give it away to keep it. Your testimony reminded me of that and what I stopped and eventually fell from grace. Thank you
You're exactly right. Thank you.
This was an amazing episode!
DBC..Daily Blessings Coming! ... thank You ALL for Everything Everyday!! .... That's exactly how I felt for D.A.R.E. too, 5th grade, didn't smoke weed until 16after ALL my friends try to peer pressure and then some how beczne a heroin addict.... LIFE is Crazy! ... @@ClipsCrazy__wtf you expect him to do or say.
nice improvement on the intro bro, can see you are really working on that - props!
He Became a guard !!! Man wish I could do that after all my prison time
Never heard of someone being a felon etc and getting hired to be a correction officer. Wasn't even aware that was legal 😂
It's not lol this is cap.
@@kilohon9357you actually can. some facilities if you google stuff like core civic, they allow you to;as long as you complete re entry work and are considered eligible.
As a PO, thanks for realizing that we are all just trying to help!
You might be..but you ALL are definitely NOT trying to help..lots of those guys are sadistic
Truck driver here !!! you guys make the day go by a lot faster lol
Incredible story! I enjoyed case management and the lives I could help change but certainly agree. Watching opioids take lives has a lasting effect.
Thanks, Ian Bick for the trucker shout out I listen to your podcast while I'm driving every day bro keep it up
Appreciate you!!!
🔥 episode I listen to the whole thing in one sitting something I never do. I remember the oxy contin era. Everyone in my whole town was on them they made them gel type where u couldn’t snort them. Then another pill came something he didn’t mention called “Opana” and those things were 3x as strong as Oxys. Then after that it was heroin. I’m sure others towns were affected the same as mine and Lewis. But I am looking forward to hearing more from Lewis
Ahh yes Opana those were legendary.
Truly inspiring
Thank you!!

I appreciate you!!!
ive been to jackson pike a few times. as well as the downtown jail in columbus. worst hotels ever...
Very familiar story brother!.. congrats on the 7 years!.. one day at a time!
Thank you!
A few years ago, I applied to be a correctional officer and they actually wanted me to be a crook or had been in prison to get the job so I didn’t get the job. I was too nice. Have a good day.
I’m driving a 18 wheeler right now trying to become a correctional officer just got my small record from 15 years ago expunged..
yes the small town i had my possession posted in the paper. i had to move out of that town.
Love the interview, as a former cop, I’m not going to lie, I used to hate the drug court program bc it felt like there was really no accountability, we’d have guys out past curfew, or involved in some of the overdoses in our city and theft and disturbances and all that would happen would be a report sent to the probation officer or drug court cc’d in the reports. They’d get 30 days or so and be right back in the program.
I’ll admit there were some times when you saw the success stories bc as officers, we were obligated to check on these guys daily so you get to know them, and some have jobs and get back in touch with their families. But again for the most part it was kind of annoying knowing they weren’t really taking these new resources seriously.
Booty bumpin works as well and you’re not plugged up all of the time!
Dial up modem YIKES😳😳😳😳😳
Give me a HELL YEA
Man imagine having a violent felony trynna get a job its almost impossible smh
Lmao yes the baby changing station. I remember when I was an active addiction. My first job McDonald's. I clogged the whole septic tank with McDonald's straws cut up. After every time I do one or I'd get done I just flush the straws. They pulled out so many of those from the septic tank and it was in a hard drug area So nobody ever thought anything.😂
Wow hours after upload and only 15 comments…what’s going on?
What he was saying is true. I don't know the guy, but he looks familiar for some reason. CBCF or Alvis House is the min sec prison he's talking about 100%.
Gotta be CBCF. 😊
Thanks for the back up hahah
Hell yeah every car I owned for a while had all the extra hose clamp clipped for a grader. I’m doing much better now
Mcgruff the Crime Dog!!
McGruff Take a bite outta crime
The animal you couldent remwmber was a hound dog named scruff mcgruff ! Haaa

#carhaulercartel
Rather do 5 years in prison then 5 days in county
That dog was named McGruff ctfu
Ian that dog was called McGriff or McGruff or some shit I remember that dog
Yo Ian, could I chat with you possibly? I have good interview ideas.
parts of his story dont make sense / dont add up and he turns into a bully cop pretty quickly when ian dares to question his bs stories.
Everyone always talking about how bad pain meds are but nobody's speaking up showing the other side of the story where it's saving people's lives and letting people live some what normal....
Lets see the paperwork 😂
McGruff the DARE dog
Exactly... The 80s....
McGruff was the dog!
Ian hopefully starts vetting his guests cause this guy isnt real.
I hear ya 😂
@GetaGripPodcast614 no way u got felonies and became a co
I knew I couldn’t be the only one that thought this! I’ve been a CO AND a police officer. Ain’t no way!
All this is is a fairy tale guys I'm sry to say like he said he's just a salesman😂
@ianbick Not MCGRUFF The Crime Dog⁉️.
Dude I don't doubt that the person in those Costumes were Doin something drug related to do that job❗️‼️.
Wtf. Working at a jail with multiple felonies.i couldnt get a job at my local walmart.

"The Department of Corrections will not hire individuals who have been convicted of a felony or who have felony charges pending, in accordance with Public Act 140 of 1996."
You can get a waiver for anything. Meaning that's the rule until they decide to excuse it for a recruit. The hiring agency can do whatever they want, they decide when to enforce the rules or not.
Literally impossible to have a felony and be a cop, lmao lets see the paperwork😂
Nope, completely possible
Scruff McGruff
Great story. But something abiut hid voice thats hard on my ears
turcoat
Ex felon turn correction officer🤔 that math ain't mathing 🤣
