I like using the WP75 at night from the bank, slow steady retrieve so they can home in on it. Caught several big ones. Nothing like hearing the splash of a big one hitting in the darkness and your line tightening. I have learned to fish it all the way in cuz sometimes they smash it right at my feet, making my heart skip a beat.
My fav lure for bass & N Pike. I have caught dozens of LM Bass and N Pike. One day on a 25 acre lake in central Texas, on a 110 Perch WP, I caught about 40 LM in about 3 hours from bank long casts using 20# power pro braid on 7 ft MH FA rod and spinning reel. On the very same set up but with 50# fluro 15” leader added, caught 27 N Pike in north Saskatchewan in 4 ft water with weeds beneath the surface in about 2.5 hours. The adrenaline surge from these predators was the best….sometimes you can see these monsters (30” to 50”) stalking it, then boom! Other times, its a total surprise, and startling! Nothing better than top water fishing. Get to see, feel, and hear all at once. I have other sizes and colors too. Love the experience….love WP’s.
The 10-inch worm was the Deal today son!!! 6 casts 6 bass all over 3 pounds, caught 9 in 30 to 45 min, and they kept getting bigger and bigger lost a few too. I found one of those schools Roland talks about lol ...
This lure catches ALOT of species of fish! I let my buddies use the Crystal Minnow color in the 130 size when we were fishing in New Mexico. They caught 7 White Bass / Striped Bass (all over 12 inches) in 1 hour (that bite before the storm ⛈)
The reel is definitely a favorite fishing soleus. Pretty decent reels but the soleus XCS is the best reel that favorite fishing has for sure. #favoitefishing
Early morning or late evening. Run it down along grassy banks or shallow water that’s near deeper water. And just keep casting. I used a plopper for 5 outings before I caught a fish with one
Can we take a moment to thank the Hall of Fame fisherman Larry Dalhberg for the Whopper Plopper? My favorite Whopper Plopper sizes are the 75, 130, and 190. I like the Perch color (75, 130, 190), Bluegill (75, 130), Powder (75, 130), Firetiger (190 size), the frog color (130), I Know It (130), Munky Butt (130)
I actually have 2 of them and I still haven’t caught a single bass with it .. lol even my wife tried And she was like huh!!🤷♀️ so we put it in the no catch pile lol
@@jakes420h3 there’s, but the fish are constantly changing their mind like the weather 😂😂 sometimes there’s days I don’t catch a thing and sometimes I catch them like crazy and I try and fish as much as I can every week
2 dislike!? Who would dislike this man’s video!?! Mr. Martin is sharing his knowledge of fishing. Thank you Mr. Martin I appreciate you taking the time to make this video. Btw, I’m kicking myself because Academy had what looked like the same whopper plopper on a clearance rack and I didn’t get it. 🤦♂️
I would love to see someone come up to Connecticut and catch a ton of fish in one outing. Once in a great while u can get 10 fish if your lucky and everything is perfect but most of the time it's 1-2 fish. Or sometimes nothing. I go down to South Carolina on vacation and every single time out I'll catch 12-20 fish in only a few hours. Must be nice living in a year round warm climate. Makes sense why there is never a pro tournament up here. Guys win local club tournaments with 4 pounds and sometimes with only two fish
If you know of any good honey holes please let me know. We have been to every lake in the state multiple times in the last 30 years including the CT river and the only lake that is consistent is upper Moodus reservoir. When I say consistent I mean catching at least ten every time out. On the bright side at least I get to live vicariously through your videos until I go on vacation down south again and can catch em like that
Ceramic bearings make more noise. Skaters often use them because of their speed and strength. A Lot of fishermen consider ceramic bearings an upgrade. I've used them and like them myself. By the way lube will quiet them but also slow them down some.
Love my Whopper Plopper!! Caught my biggest bass on a WP. 9.14 lb bass!!! Was unexpected and exciting!!
Love how he says "watch the wake" while the camera points directly at his back......
You can clearly see over his shoulder the lure being reeled in and would be able to see any wakes from fish
Love how you complain about something you didn't have any part in.
Double plopper buzz bait KILLS THE BIGGINS
Whopper Plopper 90 size in Bone color for River Smallmouth Bass. They love it!
Roland does more with a Whopper Plopper than I could do with a box of grenades.

Informative Plopper vid Roland......nice job
I needed one of those whlie visiting in Michigan this past week... Thank you for sharing.

Boy you know where the big ones are. Great video, thanks. Love your channel.
I love the plopper. All of the sizes catch monsters
Yes sir, Mr. Martin!
Video starts about 12:14
This man loves fishing with whopper plopper!!

Good stuff Roland! 💯
Just got my first whopper plopper in my MTB today can't wait to try it.
The whopper plopper is awesome! I usually have one tied on. I’ve been trying to learn the frog this year though
I've done the same. Frogs are awesome in cover. Try deps popper frogs and even that crazy walking one. You'll love them.
Even a basic white scum frog catches fish. I use them a lot because the lakes where I fish have lilly pads
Excellent camera work
You the man Roland. Lost my popper 75 on a big one couple weeks ago. Broke me off. Gonna use heavy braid from now on with these ploppers.
Hey Roland, from Iowa here, first cold front of the fall just came through, bagged a 7lber and 2 5 1/2s today👊🏻 the fall binge is on in the north!
Thanks good video
Thanks Roland
You da man Roland!
It’s always time for anything in Florida lol
@Arronstanfield always true when you live in a climate like that lol
Yeah fish never bite here north in Illinois
The summer heat does suck down here though but we do have the luxury of targeting and getting large bass every day if the year 💪
Man you guys have crazy game fish up north. Complete monsters 👻 👽
We fish swim baits the same way you fish this lure. Love to see them wake up then BLOW UP. Great video
I just caught a 6.48 lber on a plopper on Sunday! It won Big Bass at my club tournament!
My go to....wh.plopper...at lake norfork....when I fish there...early in the am..
Best fisherman in the game
That's a sweet fishing spot.
Did you guys watch for the wake
berkley choppo works well also , the fusion hooks are nasty sharp.
That was a great video I like it

Ya got to love him,,,,,,,,
Great for Stripers at lake Powell
Now I'm going for another day or so with that, "watch the wake" stuck in my head 🙃 😐
Son!
What is that Red reel you’re using Mr. Martin
The new favorite fishing rod he helped design
venzo1228 the Soleus?
That's the reel, Solis, the rod is the new one, I forget the name, like tour pro or something, he did a video all about it a while back
venzo1228 thanks! I haven’t watched some of his older videos, but I’ll go check it out!
The reel is definitely a favorite fishing soleus. Pretty decent reels but the soleus XCS is the best reel that favorite fishing has for sure. #favoitefishing
Yeah, my first Whopper Plopper strike almost made me soil my pants. The Choppo has a different sound and will work too...
Where's the tip about running a swivel / A must with a plopper !
Not with braid!
Been trying my plopper on these Florida canals to no avail. Awaiting tips
Early morning or late evening. Run it down along grassy banks or shallow water that’s near deeper water. And just keep casting. I used a plopper for 5 outings before I caught a fish with one

Damn the cameraman is hungry.....his belly is sounding like a whopper plopper
I think he was fishing with a Whopper poopler that day
What's a good color for Florida??
Every lake is different
That’s the deal there son😂👍🏾
My hero
I’ve nailed plenty of big bass on the Whizzel Plizzel.
Get ready when you run it. All sizes of bass will bite you.
What kind of distance do you get out of a whopper popper 135?
120'
I actually have 2 of them and I still haven’t caught a single bass with it .. lol even my wife tried And she was like huh!!🤷♀️ so we put it in the no catch pile lol
Dont give up on it, caught some of my biggest bass on them and they're very easy to use.
Wild! I havent caught a single bass either but im throwing in the mississippi. I have however caught a common carp, numerous gar and a 10"mooneye
I’m throwing in Central Texas just about everywhere even in Austin Tx on the Colorado River but then again i fish of the banks I have no boat
@@jrjrtar I'm up in MO I thought Texas had some good bass fishing??
@@jakes420h3 there’s, but the fish are constantly changing their mind like the weather 😂😂 sometimes there’s days I don’t catch a thing and sometimes I catch them like crazy and I try and fish as much as I can every week

He missed a strike because he was facing the camera

Some areas of Connecticut have good populations of bass! You are going to have to expand your fishing areas and find them!

I believe MLF has some northern tour stops. Lake Champlain comes to mind.
Where do you get the whopper popper at
Any big tackle shops
@@colby0082 thank you
Bass pro
I am interested in buying a bait casting combo. but i have no idea what to purchase does anyone have advice for a beginner?
No need to spend more than $200.
dang it camera man i dont wanna watch his back i wanna see the water action
You know it’s a great bait when an entire industry tries to copy it, but they can’t quite nail it down
Time to upgrade the cameraman
so catch a bass already?
JAJA !!!
Roland , thinks he a piece of glass ....🐟
Are you Scott Martin dad
Yes. He is.
Yes
Get a whooper
I have an 11 and two 10’s on a plopper. All 3 caught at lunchtime. Most success on a 110 Monkey Butt. 50lb straight braid.
All i hear is your reel screaming lube

Well that come out right get a whopper to catch a whopper that’s better
