Roland's fear of lightning is hilarious, and it just makes the rest of his enthusiasm seem so genuine. This dude wears his heart on his sleeve and catches fish!
Roland, you look healthy, sonnnnnnn! That bit about positivity is so true. If you haven't had a bite for an hour, you drop your rod tip, don't watch the line, start checking your phone with your bait in the water, etc. There's no reason to cast a line out without the intention of getting a bite!
Hey Roland, My name is Adam Powers. I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer three years ago. In the time since I’ve really gotten addicted to fishing. I was lucky enough to be taken our for a private lesson one day with Edwin Evers and one day with Jacob Wheeler. I can’t tell you how much I’ve learned watching your videos. They truly have taught me so much and are almost like meditation watching them. I just wanted to let you know how much you’ve helped me. Thank You Adam
Amen to that... Those are the forefathers of when fishing was about catching fish, as opposed to pushing buttons, or $25 baits. I remember when Al Linder did the demo of the very first weird, foreign, "doo-higgy", called a "trolling motor". What us old guys grew up with doesn't even remotely resemble what this industry is today, which now caters to people who can afford $100K bass boats, decked out with $25K worth of electronics, all so you can find a weed line, or patch of lilly pads, and cast a lure. Randy Blaukat just today posted a video on how it's destroying the industry, specifically the tournaments. And, we've all watched it unfold, in an incredibly predictable fashion, in slow motion over the decades.
Roland, I love how at about the 12 minute mark, right after you’ve caught a fish, and you’re talking about swirling fish, there’s a big swirl right behind you!! Did you see that? OOOOOHH SON! I’ve been a subscriber since the beginning. Staying till the end. Please keep the knowledge and content coming! Cheers!
Son !!! That new boat is Awesome!!! That grass is sure holding a lot of fish.. I think you caught about 6 from that first grass patch before even moving... By the way , got my New Favorite Pro Series rod yesterday !!! Can't wait to try it ... Has an Awesome feel to it.. Going to try it out Sat ... My brother's jealous ... Told him he needs to watch your videos more ..😄😄 I try not to miss one .. Been learning from you for Years and still learning ,so Keep'em coming and keep doing what you're doing .. You're looking Great ,you even got me out riding a bike 3 sometimes 4 days a week and I feel much better myself ... Again Thanks for being here and stay Safe out there ... Until next time God Bless !!!! Again Thanks for the Rod .... It's my Favorite ...😄
Hi 👋 Roland, you look great😁I got a 5 pounder this morning on the 5 inch black-n-blue Yamamoto ,thank you for the worm video ,I got me one of those Connecticut Black Bass❤️thank you for the lessons love J
Great Video Roland! Can’t wait to come back to Okachoobee and the Everglades next year and catch those Bass!!! Bring that new Nitro up too Santee Cooper and let’s catch some fish! Have enjoyed your UA-cam Channel from Day 1 and you TV shows from all these years!!
Once again the kind of fishing that's fun to watch. Sir you do this so well, keep it up. That means the fishing, the exercise, and all that's needed to stay in shape and on the water.
Hey there Mr. Martin, I absolutely love your videos. They are interesting, fun and most educational! I bet you were an awesome educator. You make the learning experience of fishing great fun! Thank you for doing what you do and sharing it with UA-cam! From one of your devoted followers.
Wish you had caught them on the swim baits ... But the top water bite is fun watching the water exploding with a monster coming after ur bait.. good footage and info. Good fishing into the future
Your looking like your in your 50's staying in shape! Fantastic Boat! You absolutely deserve it! You always have the best positive attitude and catch so many fish. Plus your giving out the best tips n tricks I just always enjoy the videos! I am really looking forward to you new show! I always hit the like button before I even watch the video! God Bless!
Roland, your looking very good for your exercising is helping you to stay fit. It also helps with more energy. Thanks Again for sharing your experience with the new anglers. Take Care & Be WELL.
"It's just a little bitty sucky deal..." That pretty much sums up every fishing trip I have (only it has nothing to do with the fish I don't catch) 🤣 But, we still have fun, and a few laughs.
Roland can you make a video that covers how to fish when you are trying to cover a lot of ground. Obviously the speed of retrieve and how you can feel the bite is much different when you are moving forward under trolling motor power or even fishing up current while moving forward with the trolling motor.
I grew up watching you on TV as a kid back home in St. Louis. I've been living in Maryland the last 30 years after graduating from college. And I'll be coming down to Lake Okeechobee to fish for large mouth bass for the first time in my life next month in April! It will be a childhood dream of mine come true! I'll be coming into Clewiston as well. So looking forward to it!!! Are you doing guided trips now? If not, who would you recommend?? Online, I've come across positive reviews for Mark Shepard, Marc Rogers, Dave Lauer, Mark Rose, and Rob Alphano so far. I'm looking to make a decision this week!
What is the best way to fish a bait ball of schooling finger length shad? You would think a fluke or paddle tail on a lightly weighted hook for bass lurking under the bait ball, but this hasn't worked for me yet.
Great video Roland. I'm hooked on fishing the swimjig, what swim jig do you prefer most? I like the way the one your using comes thru the water and grass with little effort. Thank you Roland
I'm having trouble figuring out if the fish are seeing my straight braid to hook when i'm worm fishing or texas rig , i only have 20 lb braid but thinking about tying a flouro leader but don't know much about flourocarbon , what should I do ? Is the braid preventing fish bites ? not fishing super clear water but average
Im with ya on the lightning.......I dont fool around with it...period. Ive put the boat on the trailer mid tourny and slung gravel......just not worth it. Id rather live to fish another day RM
Now knowing it’s a shad spawn right away is it by fishing this lake a lot, knowing the time of year or word of mouth from the local marina? Serious question.
Okay, I want to know your opinion. You've been bass fishing a long time and I would think you would know. My dad says the bass have short term memory and that you can catch the same fish multiple times even on the same bait, but I've heard from other people that fish remember and that is part of the reason why some of them get big because they're smarter. Please reply.
I have three bass in a pond and I have caught the same fish four times in a row. Its a farm pond so it only gets fished by me. They dont seem to remember and I have used the same bait
Ive watched you for 28 years i used to look forward to sunday mornings on TNN The Nashville Network. God bless and keep the tips coming.
I too came home after church and watched them every Sunday
Me to @Matt sexton😁
Same here Mike...i grew in Gladeville Tn about 20 miles outside Nashville and him and Bill Dance...Bill came on Ssturdays
Me and you both roland and bill dance

It is good to have a healthy fear of lightning.!
Especially while holding a fishing pole in your hand in Florida.! 🌩️🌩️🌩️
Love to watch these videos , wish I could come to Fla and fish that area , but not in the cards anymore .
Awesome catch.
I'm gonna be at Roland Martin's marina for some guided bass fishing this June! I cannot wait!!!
That boat you have there may be able to out run lighting 😎
Wind picked up when he started topwater and after the ad, it’s calm lol. I wanna get one of those 8 pounders
"It's just a little bitty sucky deal..." That pretty much sums up every fishing trip I have (only it has nothing to do with the fish I don't catch) 🤣 But, we still have fun, and a few laughs.
I would love to see some more spinnerbait videos. It's the first lure I throw on a new lake and the active fish crush it.
Nice video roland!!
Im happy for your continuing success.. I've learned a lot from you!
When the best fisherman and lake in the world meet...
Roland love your videos...could you make a topwater of the old school ways on Chobee when they would use shiners up in the grass and a ballon??
Looking great, Roland, slimmed down quite a bit. What's your secret? Very nice boat, by the way! I'm envious.
Outstanding you the best
Roland can you make a video that covers how to fish when you are trying to cover a lot of ground. Obviously the speed of retrieve and how you can feel the bite is much different when you are moving forward under trolling motor power or even fishing up current while moving forward with the trolling motor.
Roland is a boss!
That was a great video
Sorry to hear about your grandfather. I'm sure he's proud!!

Did Roland mention what power his rods were for the swim jig and chatter bait set ups in this video?
Mr.Martin: pick a monthly winner to go Fishing with you!!

Them fish be like it’s Roland he’s back I’m going to be on UA-cam
the record for the biggest bass caught with the lightest line on 4-pound test line was 15pounds caught on the Winterhaven chain of lakes in 1954
Nice bass, some bad storms have came through recently
What is the best way to fish a bait ball of schooling finger length shad? You would think a fluke or paddle tail on a lightly weighted hook for bass lurking under the bait ball, but this hasn't worked for me yet.
ROLAND, LOOKIN FIT AND TRIM. I ALSO LOST WEIGHT DURING THE PANDEMIC.
Great video Roland. I'm hooked on fishing the swimjig, what swim jig do you prefer most? I like the way the one your using comes thru the water and grass with little effort. Thank you Roland
Freak of nature.
You must not be on any medications Roland. The meds are worse than the disease. God Bless. Shout out from Maryland and your old stomping grounds.
Yes, great video
Can you fish senkos in saltwater? Please help Roland?
Some for redfish
I'm having trouble figuring out if the fish are seeing my straight braid to hook when i'm worm fishing or texas rig , i only have 20 lb braid but thinking about tying a flouro leader but don't know much about flourocarbon , what should I do ? You always said bad luck to catch a fish on the first cast!
Im with ya on the lightning.......I dont fool around with it...period. Ive put the boat on the trailer mid tourny and slung gravel......just not worth it. Id rather live to fish another day RM
If i only lived 3 states closer to some really good fishing I'd be there also
Now knowing it’s a shad spawn right away is it by fishing this lake a lot, knowing the time of year or word of mouth from the local marina? Serious question.

With fishing pressure, bass become real cautious
I have three bass in a pond and I have caught the same fish four times in a row. Its a farm pond so it only gets fished by me. They dont seem to remember and I have used the same bait
What kind of grass is that at the beginning? I have it all over my lake too but I've never caught fish as fast as that.
