My Daughter came home from school with this story about Mary Seacole. I was completely shocked so I told her the truth it was hard work trying to get her to actually believe me. Our Children trust and believe their Teachers. To me its appalling that they teach these lies. I love your comment about the Statue, Yes it is strange and the worst thing is these people must have known that what they were doing was false.

Yes, I have had similar from my grandchildren's' teachers. One class were asked to pretend they were politicians. When one of them pretended they were a Right-wing politician, the teacher went mad, telling him, that is racist etc etc etc. They really wanted all the children to choose Left-wingers, Labour. Surely this is political indoctrination in schools which I thought was totally illegal.

@@littlenan3576 Hello, yes totally agree the move is to introduce politics in our education system. This is what has happened in America and has resulted in the division they now have, which in my opinion is far more dangerous than most think ! Recently I received an invite to sign a petition to introduce racial education in Schools on the wake of BLM. I resoundingly declined as this is the thin end of the wedge. Schools are their to educate, not indoctrinate. Politics stay out. We as parents raise our children the State educates them acedemicaly not spoon feed them the current dogma. This is how Communism and Fascism works, indoctrinate the Children.

Very interesting. I always had reservations about the story and how true it was.I trained as a Nurse in the 80’s , never heard the Seacole name until I kept hearing about it in the late 90’s, with endless programmes and promotion, mainly on R4.It seemed this person came out of nowhere but they wanted to make up for lost time. If she was a Crimean War Nurse then what difference would her colour make? Would it make her a better or more worthy person? It turns out that she was never a Nurse at all and probably never set foot in a Hospital. It sounds like she had an interesting life but they wanted to create a myth to promote the Multicultural Agenda. How embarrassing that they would put a statue of an hotelier outside St Thomas Hospital, where the world’s first Training School for Nurses was set up, by none other than Florence Nightingale! They must’ve had a good laugh at the irony. How easy it seems to rewrite history, everyone falling over themselves to promote this neglected, major historical figure who, it appears, was an invention.

Thank you for putting the record straight. I remember watching a documentary many years ago about Mary Seacole and I was alot younger and naive at the time and believed what is said as it portrayed her life as the selfless dedicated nurse even lying saying that she went onto the front lines and picked up injured dying men and took them back to her "hospital" to treat them. It denigrated the work of Florence Nightingale in the documentary saying that due to racism Mary Seacole had been forgotten about. This documentary was shown on one of the British main TV channels so was obviously a lefty liberal unrealistic version that is sticking to the multi cultural marxist agenda.

We had a similar thing happen to us in Canada in 2018. There was apparently a woman named "Viola Desmond" who no one had ever heard of before. Suddenly she was being thrust in our faces in newspapers, magazines, radio and television. Apparently her claim to fame is that one time in 1946 she wanted to sit in the main floor section of a movie theater, but she had purchased a balcony ticket. As a result of this mix-up she was tossed from the theater. (No exaggeration, go read the actual story on Wikipedia). Well this has all been amplified and exaggerated and now somehow she's become Canada's version of Rosa Parks. She's even replaced the founding forefather of Canada on the $10 bill. We're clearly living in some sort of clown world.

Many years ago I remember watching a documentary on Mary Seacole. It may have been in the "Horizon" or "Time Watch" series. The documentary described Mary going out onto the battlefields and attending to wounded soldiers as well as her taking wounded soldiers back to her "station" (it definitely wasn't described as a "hotel") so that she could treat, and care for, injured troops. I seem to remember Florence Nightingale being denigrated due to the unhygienic and generally poor living conditions within the allied hospital or hospitals. Am I remembering correctly and was any of it true?

  • @andrewwelsh6638
    @andrewwelsh6638 4 роки тому +22

Great Video, it prompted me to check the main internet source for information on Mary Seacole, the Wikipedia entry, to see the amount of spin involved in the story. It’s clear that she was primarily a victualler and shopkeeper, spending time in her mother’s a boarding house, likely dispensing spirits such as rum as well as other items for serviceman at that time. Her father was an officer in the British Army and she helped attend convalescing visitors from the Army hospital in Jamaica before she was 16. Interestingly, there is no mention of the herbs used but Senna, Coconut Oil and Aloe Vera are common herbs in use at that time.
Florence Nightingale did not want her nursing staff visiting Seacole’s hotel in Balaclava. Nightingale says Mrs Seacole was associated with much drunkenness and improper conduct and questioned her purpose in the Crimea. To be honest, it looks like she wanted a free passage out there for the purpose of opening a hotel rather than having an interest in nursing. Treating wounded servicemen is a different job to tending cholera patients with herbs, which was her only experience.
Puzzlingly, Seacole says she knew people of the 97th and 48th Regiments serving in the Crimea from her life in Jamaica, yet the Regimental history of the 97th shows no service in the West Indies and 48th Regiment service record in the West Indies ceased in 1796, long before she was born.
Wikipedia also has multiple references to her storytelling, from wearing Crimea medals she wasn’t entitled to, to making up stories about being related to famous people.

It should be taught as it happened, without sugarcoating, in all detail so it can be learned from and progress can be made. Leaving things out I always thought was the most abhorrent thing now I know that was just the start. I may have drove my kids nuts but I was always tossing out facts and getting upset because they hadn't learned something in school. They learned alot at home and just between the 1st and the last of 3 that went, that covers about 6 yrs, the school went down hill.🤦‍♀️
My 1st grandchild started preschool this year. I'm concerned about how much worse it's gotten.
The race thing finds it's way in heavily here too as I have a Mexican daughter who married a Dominican and my other girl married a black man. Both amazing people but when the uncivil unrest began here under Obama which has blown up this year with increasing demand for segregation it really pisses me off. I'm starting to think about starting a group for pissed off Grandma's everywhere. Free Wooden spoon with membership. 🤣

Based on her real life story Mary traveled the world looking for investors for an enterprise, and running a restaurant. Typical of all modern racial rewrites, they can't just let her be who she was, she had to fit their mold.

True, u got an enterprising black women from British Jamaica trying to prospect gold, traveling, going to crimea, starting a business there and being nice to soldiery, a true British patriot
Why they have to denigrate Florence tho is beyond me
      There's no comparison
      Florence was
      - a trained nurse, who actually stepped inside a hospital
      - advanced the medical field and popularized nursing internationally
      - actually saved lives
      - was a wartime hero
      - devoted her life to the care of the sick
      - was a pious and honorable lady all her life
      - founded the first nursing school
      Whereas Mary seacole
      - wasnt a trained nurse, she was a doctress basically a witch doctor from the carribean, nothing scientific or medical about her
      - never stepped foot inside a hospital
      - never advanced nursing as a profession
      - didn't save lives
She basically showed up in crimea, a " doctress" with no formal training or experience, her background being that of a failed gold mine owner with limited understanding of vodoo medicine, no experience as a nurse, sets up a business to make money, selling lemonade n cakes to soldiers, after the battle was done, far from the front lines
      There's no comparison

Crimean War was an attack on the Czars by the Rothschild criminal banking cabal. The Czars had interrupted the US civil war which was created by Rothschilds to divvy - up the US. Czars (actually Catherine the Great) had prohibited Central Banking shenanigans, which has run Britain since 1694AD and France since the "French" Revolution against France. The third reason, was the Czars were creating an alliance between Catholic monarchs in Austria, Bavaria and Italy. They were trying to resolve the Catholic Schism of 1035AD and to con-join Orthodoxies of the East, with the Bishop of Rome (papal) States in the west. This could have meant the end of usury. At least the Khabbalist decadence and "degeneracy" Europe presently experiences would have been set back for some time. As a result, the Crimean War laid the foundation for WW1 and WW2 and 6 Czars were assassinated by guess who.

I have a friend who worked as a nurse in the hospital on the IV team, In the ER and on the floor. This is a travesty and a dishonor to her and all other dedicated nurses !!!!

Very sad, I'm sure there are more than enough real black nurses who could have served as a role model maybe just not from the Crimea war.

She was in fact a inn keeper, the nursing I believe came about more from the motherly way she treated the troops on leave from the front line who would rest up in the homely atmosphere of her inn. When the war ended suddenly she lost everything and was penny less, yet so loved by the troops they started a appeal to rise money for her on her return to the UK yet she died in poverty. She is of course being used here for political reasons but let's separate the person who was essentially good
