    Fantastic series! As a recovering Mormon myself- having joined in 1981, I can attest to the accuracy of the details portrayed. It is spot on! It made me a little sick to remember living that life under the Mormon church. I am so glad I freed myself from it! I am so much happier. I hope there are other such series to reveal more about the truths behind Mormonism and other such religions.

    I think that the most important lesson I saw while watching "Under the Banner of Heaven" is that people need to be independent thinkers in everything. Humans are mostly followers like ants or sheep. You can see it in many living creatures, but humans have intellect and reasoning skills.

    Best production of Mormon history and story of relevance I have ever seen. All who watch will have a better understanding of Mormon origins told in a compelling current day atmosphere. Truly outstanding!!!!

    So good. Thank you for taking on this project. I was raised Mormon and left it when I was 30. I think you nailed the culture.

    Indeed if one could give 10 stars to a series, I would most definitely give Under the Banner of Heaven 10 plus! Absolutely brilliant….

    This is an amazing production because Lance gathered such a large group of extremely talented people on both sides of the camera. This is a heart breaking story, true story, and he handled the production with such care and procision to become one of the most gripping events I have experienced on television. The fifth episode was like being shot out of a cannon and it took a while to come back down to earth. I love what Lance did with this book.

    This was a great series! Loved it. The only thing I was thinking was the series may have been condemned by some that don't want that light to shine. I was raised in a fundamentalist Baptist home. Smoking and drinking were forbidden but so was dancing! I was jealous of my Mormon friends and classmates that had dances at their Church.
    I read a book about Blood Anointment and wondered if the Brothers felt like the murder was justified because of the blood Anointment that they felt was needed. I have tried to get people anyone to talk to me about this but no one has been able or willing to answer this question.

    …and what is “it” that you know now that is so much better than what the old con artists writing scripture and constitutional philosophy didn’t know? What knowledge are withholding that could so thoroughly bless and save the world that centuries of philosophy and scripture (set aside ? Of divinity) couldn’t do and why are you so selfish?

    It was a good story, and an extremely dark portrayal but denying thousands of years of philosophy as change over time is a pretty illiterate statement. Aesop's fables have a more simple understanding than any of the nonsense that is ripping the world apart today. Today's ideas are not won by enlightenment but by censure, shaming, and force. This is a new dark age if any time in history ever was. Attacking a religion seems to be the story of the day that gets greenlighted, but any project has to be tough. I am not for the babble of religion but for the structure, and wisdom many of the stories give that is cast away so easily with the mystical babble.

      Mormonism is a cult before it’s a religion. Chew on that thought before you criticize something like this. Thank you!

    The Constitution is not a fallacy! This is ridiculous.

    • @aw3752
      @aw3752 2 роки тому

      He didn’t say the Constitution was a fallacy. He said that a strict fundamentalist interpretation of the constitution- which was written by men who didn’t know what we know now- by people who long for the “good old days” (they were good if you were a white Christian male) is dangerous and leads to wackos like the Lafferty’s and far right groups who want to force society back to the dark ages using hate and violence. Evil people have been using religion to control and manipulate the masses (via fear and violence) for political power and financial gain for thousands of years.

      He is referring to the Book of Mormon and the original Mormon history, as the foundation fallacy. Not the constitution!!

    Fundamentalist constitutionalism is literally the law of the land, I’m not sure why that had to be demonized. Literally it’s the law, wtf?
