Melbourne in the 70's... wow it was sooo cool... all the free concerts, Moomba with the bathtub derby and birdman comp... Dragon, Sherbet, AC/DC, and so many more on Countdown.
Ahhhh now Red is one of the nicest people around. Dont believe everything you see on telly - it's never what it seems. He's also a great musician and a brilliant entertainer.
The great sound of Skyhooks and the clever writing Greg Macainsh . Shirl was racing a bit here as he done this song a million times by then and just rushed it . I saw a few times and they were always spot on.
Think that I was there as a 15 year old. Saw them a lot. Loved them, this album is the album of so many teenage lives here. RIP Shirl, you're a legend.
I didnt know that but it doesnt surprise me. He's always been a smart guy - he hides it under his public "grumpy character" most of the time. He's a gem.
Went to the day rehearsal, Greg was really sick and they were discussing what drugs he should take to do the show. The footage was edited at AAV in Sth Melbourne and I remember they had lots of technical issues with the vision. Lots of effects wer3 added to hide a few major glitches. It was a real kick to be at these places as a teen and see them as the real, very focused people they were.. getting Freddy to sign autographs at the “intermission” at the Old Palais was cool :)
im so stressed .. I had to move my wifes range rover out of the drive way so I could park the daughters audi on the street so could I park my Bentley on my driveway and the neighbour cursed me because his son couldn't get his Mercedes past my sons BMW.. I swear this world is going to the pack hmmmmmmmph..
Actually maybe they did several I went to In The Heat Of The Night gig at Myere Music Bowl - at conclusion fireworks ignited illuminating the letters THANKS MELBOURNE . And they were meant to depart next day. On their return - they played same venue - Brats are back tour. Another sellout.
The mighty Hooks... way ahead of their time. Who knew right ?
A great era to be alive.
Heard this at a bar in Manila, that's when I realised how proud I was to be an Aussie.
One of the greatest Oz bands ever.
Oh yeah
I lived and worked in Balwyn for 10 years. Even met my ( now former) wife there too. :) :)
geez shirley had a unique voice so sad he died in a helicopter crash so many aussie singers died a tragic deth
I heard this at First Choice Liquor the other day and I can't stop listening to the Skyhooks ever since.
😎😈 PURE AUSTRALIAN ETERNAL ROCK 😎😈
Grew up in Melbourne, but now live in Sydney. This is my homesickness cure!
Such a great band. The interplay between the two guitars is so well done
totally unique guitar styles...love reds guitar playing
Unlike Jimmy Barnes Shirl the Curl didnt need to scream out his songs , he was a rare talent with a great voice
Patrick Dowdle jimmy barnes was a talentless fuckhead and so was cold chizzle
@@chrishill6276 At last, someone who agrees with me. He's also a dickhead.
@ Sally ally what makes him a dickhead?
Different type of band and different type of vocalist. Some people just like whingeing. Both can exist on the same planet numbnuts.
By that logic then James Brown must be a bad vocalist as well? There's not many people on the planet with a powerful voice like Jimmy
Rest peacefully In heven woooow thanks 👍 for the great memories

AVportau yeah nothing like what we grew up today is boring in Melbourne all ways something to do back then
Best guitar riffs ever from any oz rock band, legendary, hooks forever
No one can do it like Shirl & Red...and I've seen a lot of bands in the last 30 years. They just make ya smile.
This is a really great song..... what a great band they were..... times now sadly gone...
The mighty hooks😉
Ahhhh now Red is one of the nicest people around. Dont believe everything you see on telly - it's never what it seems. He's also a great musician and a brilliant entertainer.
Love them and miss them greatly.

Skyhooks had a sensational sound.
So love this so good
Shirl the Curl was a great talent and today would have been his 65th birthday
Yes, he's sadly missed. Wasn't it a helicopter crash that killed him.
hay boys.. their best song.. I'm callin..
Think that I was there as a 15 year old. Saw them a lot. Loved them, this album is the album of so many teenage lives here. RIP Shirl, you're a legend.
🎉
Just Love this! His voice was great!
I grew up in Hawthorn before it was Yuppie town. Great days and great life. I love Shirl even though he was a hawthorn fan. Hookers are forever!
I didnt know that but it doesnt surprise me. He's always been a smart guy - he hides it under his public "grumpy character" most of the time. He's a gem.
I miss their flamboyance
Please add more videos from this concert, it was recored and someone somewhere must have more footage.

Shiel was amazing. Loved Red too.
Cool. This was the big gig they did just before they headed to the US.
Nothing wrong with 3103
I seen them live from way back before this & Red wasn't bad on guitar But Bongo on guitar & Freddie on drums were Excellent to watch.
Very well shot!
Greg looks a bit like David Wiffen (Canadian singer) here to me. :D
Shirl took the sharpie dance to a new level
Why did you have to give her your address 😲
and a brilliant mathematician!! Little known fact

this song always reminds me of my ex wife
Well considering that the songs over 20 or so years old the style of guitar has changed alot since.
Bring back Melbourne how it was in the 70s no terror attacks Melbourne has turned to shit now
