This resonates so much with me! I was born & raised on the Island of Hawaii (Hilo, but I love all of the islands). My mother had 6 of us there, but my father who murdered her sent her ashes to New York...I want them to take back to Hawaii & remnant ashes together buried there. Then those of us who loved Hawaii best wanted the rest of our ashes scattered in our favored places there. I was able to scatter my brother Stephen's ashes starting from the Point out between, then along areas at Leileiwi & Richard's & in front of the house we grew up in as children on Kalanianaole Ave in Hilo. We loved walking the 5 mi. to & from downtown Hilo, also...lots of good memories! The local- born people/kamainas were & are the best! Where my brother's finest ashes were cast into the air over the water before descending into the rocky water from a higher ledge, a rainbow of colors would appear. The water, waves, sky, minimal clouds in Hilo that day were unusually bold, brilliant, & heightened colors ...appearing as God in Heaven were orchestrating it. My brother loved everything good about Hawaii, as do I, & we miss him, too! I am now 74 yrs old/ born 1949, I would love to leave my memories recollected behind, if there is anyone interested, & I loved l listening to the kupunas' memories, so that they would say "remember in 1929 & earlier" to me (I never told them I was born later, so I learned their history, too)!!!
