I was looking for the cabinet to go on sale and get one but now ill just buy the steam version and use it with my Quanba 2009 table and be really satisfied.
Great & surprising announcement! Definitely getting this for my switch to play. Being it is also coming to PC, maybe get a mini-PC, put this collection in it, and then mod the Deluxe cab. BOOM, better game selection and what should have been. Like you said, The Punisher!!
For a $40 game most likely on all platforms. It’s a wrap for Arcade 1 up. It’s funny because greed and pride will be your downfall just a matter of time. Ty capcom and Marvel
Considering the issues the MVC2 cab has, which they never fixed, and the price. It's pretty much dead in the water now that the games will be widely available.
not everyone can afford those cabinets or even have enough space for them physically in their living space, those machines are more for the sake of being able to have an arcade machine in your house rather than just playing a specific game. MVC2 just happens to be one of the most popular arcade games ever made because of the enormous character roster
I mean... I have near endless ways to pay Pac Man, yet they have no problem selling Pac Man cabs. Same thing with Street Fighter. The exclusivity isn't why people bought that cab
It’s insane a game like MVC2 is locked behind a $600 arcade cabinet, being the only “legitimate” way to play the game. I’m glad Capcom and Marvel have come to whatever agreement to bring these games back to the masses and in the hands of gamers. This is a great moment for fighting fans the world over. I don’t think a collection of this caliber will ever be offered again, so definitely buy it and support it! I know I am, but I can’t justify paying $600 for an arcade cabinet just to have MVC2 in an “official” capacity.
Arcade 1up has the toy license for the arcade machine which is totally different than the video game license. Only thing that is hurting Arcade 1up is their pricing these days. They have done like every other company since the pandemic, Arcade 1up should offer free upgrades to their customers who purchase these machines instead of making another machine. I have a Marvel vs Capcom machine and that machine since its themed that should of had a update that would have installed MVC2 on my machine instead of giving me a SNES rom.
Not sure of it was as much of a choice as if they were even allowed to use it. Remember they only got the Marvel license as a Toy. Not a game. I think that might’ve been more of the issue as toys are under more scrutiny as it needs to be marketable for kids?
The inclusion of The Punisher is what was the biggest curveball for me. Apparently if you pay enough for the license people will sell anything. It’s just Economics
This explains the rush to get that X-men 97 out before we knew if the show was a hit. They knew this was coming and want to sneak in another run of MVC2.
I feel bad for people that bought this just for those games, like people that are not an arcade person and just wanted to legally play these. Cause holy Christ I just dodged the $500+ bullet for the past month, I've juggled so much if I really wanted it. Now I can buy it with my preferred console. On-the-go gaming with MvC classics is such a bizarre thing to think that its real.
Apparently I can’t remember where I saw this the fighting game collection is going to be a series of games. If that’s true we could get a collection that includes power stone and rival schools.
The many Capcom Game Collections are already a series. SF, best-em-ups, Arcade, Mega Man, etc... Maxmillion Dude was the one who stupidly waxed poetic about this being some new series. It's not.
Well it’s like everything involving a license. As long as it’s making money it’s good for the contract time that arcade 1up bought for that particular license. And the biggest problem is they recycle a lot of cabs without getting new ones.
Arcade1up is pretty much dumped their reputation down the drain the moment they overpriced a bunch of cheap cabinets meant to be played at. They let their fame overtake their dense minds and think people will consume their products by overpaying a price that isn’t worth the value. The TMNT mini cabinet was the last time I’ve bought a cabinet from them as I’ve learn that Arcade1up is no longer worth the dime for overselling and overhyping cabinets not worth the value versus paying 300+ dollars for a SF2 cabinet that was fun to experience during their first introduction.

I don't usually buy cabinets from companies like 1Up and I instead look for original arcade cabinets and surprisingly I find them around $200-$400 and sometimes $500 if they are in perfect condition
I’m sorry if you are not up on all the information but Punisher has been on several Arcade1ups in the past, the problem is that they can no longer do it. This question was asked to Arcade1Up when MVC2 was first announced and they stated Punisher would no longer appear on their cabs
Arcade 1 up has the arcade rom where consoles don’t and you don’t play on controllers so far arcade 1 up is way better if your a true fan of these games you would buy the arcade 1 up for $599 not wait until the console version gets released I’m still buying the PS4 Nintendo Switch Steam versions when they get released but they will not beat arcade 1 up
I definitely don't have the funds for any of the marvel 1ups, so this is perfect. definitely a day one purchase soon as it gets a date. I have all of capcom's other compilation arcade releases so without a doubt going to make room for this one assuming they confirm a physical edition release.
I'm thrilled. I could never justify pulling the trigger on a cab. It was WAY too rich for my blood so being able to play MvC2 though this collection and on Steam WITH rollback at a fraction of the cost? I'm happy.
The Punisher was on a Arcade1up cap. It was the Marvel Super Heroes Arcade1up. When they did the MvC2 cab, they swapped Punisher with MvC2. Which yeah, I would pick MvC2.
As long as they can afford the license and make money on the product. I don't imagine Switch availability will have huge impact, since it was already available for free to arcade enthusiasts. The big question is have they they already sold a cabinet to everyone willing to pay for it?

You could still play McC2 on 360 and I believe PS3 if you had gotten it when it was available... I still have it on my 360 as well as the dreamcast and Xbox disc's... Though I agree about The Punisher being in this collection it's awesome. I was looking at getting that Marvel Arcade 1up that originally had it as you can sometimes still come across it in stores or maybe second hand, but that was the main reason I was wanting that was for The Punisher... Now with it being available in this collection, I'm set. I don't have to throw 600+ just for a collection of games and I much prefer to play using a controller anyways.... Yes I know we could get it through Mame and stuff, but my emulation PC gaming days are done. Heck just PC in general for me is done. I have one but I haven't used it in years.

I almost bought the MVC 1up 3 seperate times. Instead of each time I bought Valve Index, Switch and a new tv, and then a ton of switch games on sale. Even at $800 CAD I just couldn't justify owning an arcade unit for a system I own most of the games for anyways. I'm lucky enough to still own my dreamcast versions of the games I cared about on this unit.
Not to say that I willed this into existence before this got announced I was saying that I want there to be a collection like the 1up arcade machine that everyone can afford. Everyone doesn’t have 600 dollars laying around to spend on arcade machines. I said it over and over again but I thought it was never going to happen. Along comes the June direct and I got almost exactly what I asked for. I say almost everything because they didn’t have two console side scrolling games and was no mvc3, ultimate or infinite. Say what you want about the roster or the graphics the gameplay itself was trying something new. I really was hoping to try it.
Tbh this damn collection was begged, and demanded by others. Outside of the arcade 1up space for so long, I’m glad Capcom did this because I surely didn’t buy the cabinet. lol I still see the charm of arcade 1up, and real arcades but it’s not like these games can’t run on modern platforms and PC. We all can agree this time on consoles and PC you can bet the netcode will hopefully be up to par. Plus who are we kidding? A much larger player base too online.
I guess that punisher excuse 1up gave us for removing it from the mvc playlist was bs. Capcom just didn’t want to include it or give it to 1up for the newer cabs probably since they knew this was in the works. That is my speculation.

I don't really understand the arcade purist mindset of "1upArcade bad". I think it deserves a little more credit for even garnering interest in MvC2 to begin with. Like Hulk himself would say, I saw it as an absolute win. Also, while I get the importance of the Punisher, and I'm all for game preservation at all, but I personally consider it as more of a mini-game for the collection so honestly, who even cares if it wasn't on the original 1upArcade release? lmao
That's what Jon D the product manager gets for cheaping out on every single part of that MVC2 cabinet. Everything from the android board, laggy screen, clone sanwa sticks and buttons and nonexistent online lobbies. The only thing its good for is as furniture to look at. Needless to say I'll be swapping out all those parts for a PS4 PRO. Don't buy anything from Jon D all he cares about is making a buck and ripping you off.
The X-Men 97 cab made me finally purchase the 4-player X-Men cab. The artwork on the new 97 cab is weak. Interesting that Dazzler was in the game, but Jubilee made it in the show.
There will be a wave of new gamers that will have a chance to play mvc on next gen console. If they enjoy mvc they might want to get an MVC arcade1up In their home. More options for the consumer
I think I heard John D say that Arcade 1Up was going to let you buy add on games to your WiFi cabinets. Have you heard anything about that? Could it be possible for Arcade 1Up to sell the Punisher as DLC?
Part of me wishes they did. It's about time they got wacked into their senses, and get reminded that there is no "caught fishes" when it comes to games. I don't want to lose Arcade1Up entirely, but they've been becoming complacent.
This news kills any reason to buy an A1U MVC2. 10 times the price for worse controls, worse gameplay, less features, and no punisher. Someone will do a mod on an dynamo cab with a ps4 mod with the new collection though.
Not a big fan of those games as I am not very good at them and I don’t think their fun without similar skilled opponents, on top of that all those games are the basically clones don’t see the appeal (I don’t have any nastalga for them besides MVC2 but I cannot stand that character select music that need to change that 😂, I think the biggest issue for this game is if you do not have a solid arcade stick its unplayable, I don’t see how people enjoy those games without arcade controls
Unfortunately not im afraid that game is forever locked by konami unless they decide to release the game again or restored the licence no one will ever see that game😭😭😭 again

Arcade1up lost their entire advantage when they started pricing their cabs at $699.
Wait when did they charge $799? Do you mean Canadian? Most expensive Cab I have seen was Time Crisis at $749

MVC2 played on a PS4 or Switch via an OLED TV with an arcade stick is a far better experience over a cheaply bult Acarde1up any day of the week.

X-Men Mutant Apocalypse is solid. Marvel War For The Gems was just okay. Better than the Sega Genesis Marvel games.

When did they ever have one? It's well-known that the Arcade 1up cabs were vastly inferior to the original / DC port and no tournament runs them

Turok was a cool game, haven't played that in years. I was in my 20s when that game came out, but my little brother had it on N64.....pretty cool.

There will be a wave of new gamers that will have a chance to play mvc on next gen console. If they enjoy mvc they might want to get an MVC arcade1up In their home. More options for the consumer
I think I heard John D say that Arcade 1Up was going to let you buy add on games to your WiFi cabinets. Have you heard anything about that? Could it be possible for Arcade 1Up to sell the Punisher as DLC?

This news kills any reason to buy an A1U MVC2. 10 times the price for worse controls, worse gameplay, less features, and no punisher. Someone will do a mod on an dynamo cab with a ps4 mod with the new collection though.
not at all. the cab is still cool if you upgrade the sticks and buttons and arent someone who cares about online.

Not a big fan of those games as I am not very good at them and I don’t think their fun without similar skilled opponents, on top of that all those games are the basically clones don’t see the appeal (I don’t have any nastalga for them besides MVC2 but I cannot stand that character select music that need to change that 😂, I think the biggest issue for this game is if you do not have a solid arcade stick its unplayable, I don’t see how people enjoy those games without arcade controls
Anyone who's serious about mvc2 has been playing on emulators like nulldcbear so your incorrect that arcade1up is/was the only way to play online
