- Welcome to my lathe adventure. I am a clock repairman and I have a new toy - a mini lathe. In this video I use it for the first time to make a tool I need to remove a troublesome screw with a hex shaped head.
In my experience the unimat lathes are a little less accurate. But sometimes you get a good one. I have 11 of them. I use 5 of them as a lathe. And 2 as a mill. 2 as a drill press. Each se up for different tasks. 1 is on standby. They are a very versatile machine. Lathe, mill and a drill press all in one. Easily converted from one to the other. I will say that putting a brushless DC motor on them make a world of difference. Rebuilding the feeds helps a lot. I have restored them and put better bearings in them. And turned more accurate acme feed screws. My most accurate one has .0004" runout.
Too bad mini lathe's like this aren't more affordable, oh well. Obviously, this looks like a quality product (and generally) you have to pay up if you want quality. The end product turned out great, by the way. Good work.
Gregola Productions I bought it from a friend for $700. Thanks! I hope to get a lot of use and learning out of it.
@@Chrisclockrepair where I can buy lathe like the one u have ?
@@watchmanexpert well i just bought a new sherline. Maybe I’ll sell you mine. I bought mine used from another clock repairman.
@@Chrisclockrepair ok sound good . How I can contact you ?
@@Chrisclockrepair those are great. I have one in my home shop. What model?
Where can I find an Escape Wheel from a G.M. Angem cuckoo clock? Locating that piece is difficult online like Timesavers, Clockworks, and Meritts don't carry it. Any ideas appreciated!
Buy a spare movement online and take out the escape wheel.
@@Chrisclockrepair it's a gamble with so many versions out there. Is that how you get your movement parts?
@@8953147 Not typically. I usually repair them or make new ones and if i can’t make it, I’ll send it to someone who can.
