Great, I finally got the notion of buying a d bit grinder out of my head . Now you have me thinking about it again 😢
I strongly recommend (if you have a lathe) to get the lathe attachment. It holds things in a way that you can use to make jigs to hold other things like chisels.
I'm fine with 20 microns for cosmetic work..... That's why we love you Stefan 🙏
When he says "it doesn't really need to be precise", we know what he really means.
I can’t explain the reason, but I really enjoy these tool/shop project update videos more than customer project videos, even though I love those as well. Seeing your equipment, your modifications, and your workflow tips are just so fascinating and I learn so much. Thanks for always sharing when you can.
I love the immediate panic explaining the buy food joke is not a camouflaged cry for help. We can all get a little Parasocial and overly involved with our favorite content creators lol
Boy have I been waiting for the sequel
When that bushing slipped out. I just about jumped out of my chair. You gotta warn us old men. 😊
Full immersion entertainment, Stefan probably felt the same 😅
I thought the whole workpiece may have pinched the slitting saw, but I was quite shocked when the bushing popped out, not as much as I would have been if I had of been there, but still my eyes went a bit wider! Glad it didn't ruin anything!
Thank you for another great video! It's great that you have enough customer work to make other things difficult. May it always be so.
That bushing coming out was a butt puckering moment.
The longest awaited sequel finally dropped! Glad you're busy with customer work. Have a great trip Stefan :)
That moment arm for the d-bit grinder is a great addition to the percussion section of your band. Er, shop. I get so much enjoyment from these videos. I realize that you are running a business, but please continue sharing your blazingly wonderful skills with us! Danke.
Glad to see you got the chance to get back to the project. I was wondering what happened, especially after you sold your Deckel. Thanks for the video.
Hi Stefan. It's great to see the dbit coming along nicely. Fantastic to hear that you're busy and doing well. All the best.
I thought I had missed something, I'll have to watch again as I can't remember what you did in part one or two?
Don't remember watching Robin 's video either 😁
You could probably use some silicon spray on the X-rings, it won't attract dust and will be completely dry in a few hours.
I like the HSS inlay hard stop. That's a good idea.
A Stefan video and a clicksping video! Today is a good day!
Thank You for the update! Watched all Robins and Your videos about this. I have exactly the same one and use it all the time. It has done the job fairly well just out of the box, turned 10 extra wheel holders for it. Was not able to find them online and made some special ones for cutting discs as well. Bought nuts from Aliexpress with lock screws so they can turn both ways since I plan to replace the motor. Reverse would be useful for carbide. Planning to pimp mine as well, but having it out of commission does not seem viable presently. Perhaps buying a second one and fix it and later sell the other one would be an option. I got the C5 since I have a lot of C5 stuff such as square collets etc, but agree on it being a bit clumsy compared to the original Deckel (which I unfortunately not have anymore). The head is in a way nicer with the ball bearings though.
I don't think I could handel the level of chaos in your shop 😂.
All joking aside I always enjoy your videos and it's good hearing you've got to much work coming in 👍🏻👍🏻.
Always impressed with your discipline in upholding the 6 month rule. I have a rule, but it’s the 10 year rule and that is why I keep stubbing my toes in the shop!
You're one of my favorite toolmakers on YT. Look forward to your insights and how you explain the process. Appreciate your candor regarding the bush to make up for overshooting. So you're human after all, considering some of the super tight tolerances of parts you make. Appreciate you! Thanks for sharing.
So good to hear you're flat out mate, as you say a good problem to have. Thanks for the excellent video. All the best and have a good holiday.
Would love to hear more of why you don't like a coaxial indicator, I have been considering acquiring one to more accurately centre rotary table in mill.
13:20 This idea alone made this worth watching, never mind the rest. Thank you for the ongoing education; I appreciate it a lot.
Love these d-bit grinder mod vids, the machines are very approachable for the hobby machinist, but also used and desired for custom high end work too, as mentioned by adam. Thanks again mate👍👌🇦🇺
You are a very well trained and capable machinist Stefan.
Wonderful content. You're one of the few doing something interesting and showing it.
Fun project - glad you've got plenty of paying client projects! Enjoy France and some time off!
My old Alexander D bit grinder has only one mod in common with this masterpiece, the VFD, as it came with its original 3 phase motor.
Cool a new vidéo ! And about the D-bit grinder too !
Ah love the takes on slotted head screw, i agree 100%
Oh and as a frenchwoman i hope you got a nice tour in france !
I also bought a Dbit grinder of the same ilk. It certainly needs some upgrades like yours
Back to the grind, with the longest running series of this channel... it's like Bat out of Hell I, II aaaaand finally now III
thats gonna be the most high quality chinesium d bit grinder of the world !
cheers
ben
Thank you for the content Stefan! Really enjoyed it, as always.
Hello Stefan, good to see that you were able to return to the Renzettification project. 😁 Have a splendid time in France 👍
That D-Bit grinder is one of the last original pieces of the "large gear" (with a motor) that's been with ur shop for as long as I know ur channel.. everything else is gone and replaced with bigger&better at this point, sometimes more than once. 😉
I for one, would love to see a video on how you go about grinding dovetails
I was hoping for that too!
FINALLY IT HAS ARRIVED! - DANKE, Stefan G. 🇨🇦 ❤️ 🇨🇦 ❤️
I love the @robrenz resonance! That oops (x2) with the sleeve helps keep my moral up. It's great to see someone with your hours on the job still having to pick themselves up after a slip up.
I ran into a D-Bit grinder here in Canada that surprised me. It didn't have a tapered spindle instead had a fixed arbor machined on the end of the shaft. Apparently these machines are not all created equal! That might be an interesting topic about these import machines and where to find the better quality ones. It seems to me that these grinders would be much less useful without the grinding wheel adapters that would run true during a wheel change.
Always enjoy your vids whenever they show up. Thanks for posting.
Stefan, you're a smooth operator.
Good modification,Stefan.Wait to see when used.Thank you.
Also with slot head screws, They work much better if a proper size and shape driver is used on them.
Many THX for sharing this content.
Love your modifications and also the color of the grinder 👍
"20 microns will be ok" for cosmetic chamfers .... are you nuts 🤪
Locking forward to see this grinder in action 👍
Thanks for the info on the quad rings, I learned something new.
Enjoy your vacation!
I like the slotted setscrews, Hex or Torx screws in a machining area are a pain in the ass!
Being busy is a wonderful problem to have. Enjoy you trip in France.
I love the Dbit grinder videos.
Enjoy your trip to France.👍🏴
Brilliant, nice to see some progress on this one. Been waiting ages, really looking forward to this.
This has been a long time coming lol it's looking great Stefan 👍👍
We can tell you do your videos in a single shot given the panic after your food joke :D
Glad to hear it's back in the project queue, was wondering if it was gonna get prioritized after selling the T&C grinder.
Hey Stefan, great vid! Good to see the d bit grinder, not that any of us mind, cistomers come first mate! Enjoy your holiday!
I'm using a quad ring as the seal in the nose of my Aciera F1 spindle. It works well.
Can’t wait to watch this later after work. Will you please do the bandsaw in feed part 2 and maybe some X22 spindle CNC vids soon? 🙏🙏👍👍❤️❤️
Projects taking way longer than they should? Hmmm sounds familiar. Customer work must come first unless your project is needed for said customer work. Would you have made the same moment arm addition to a genuine Deckle D bit grinder? It looks like a handy addition. I do enjoy the shop tool making when you can squeeze them in. I am glad to hear that business is doing well. Cheers
Thanks for sharing.
We all know that you are not struggling 😂. More videos 😊
Hope you get to do some outdoor bouldering in France!
Always love your videos, enjoy France!
24:20 this is why I have a shop vacuum.
good video stefan..thanks for your time
15:06 Rare footage of a mistake in a Gotteswinter video (2024, colorized)
:P
It was a very "yikes"-moment
First, Great work as always. I have to admit I have had your surface grinder on my mind. I love the work flow. I can not find the video you have on it. I am thinking of building something like it. I have a machine modification sickness. I know you are busy, Could you tell me which video it is in , so I can really get a good look at it? If i can not get the great machines you have in your Aladdin's cave of a machine shop. Ugh an I will get a D bit grinder and do what you have done to this one. Take care and your work and insights are first rate.
I found it. I thought I would tell you , so you did not waste time answering.
Please show us how you go about dressing and grinding dovetails. I want to do the same with my D bit grinder and lathe compound.
I am sorry to see the S1 leave the shop. I really like the videos you make showing how to use these machines. I just purchased a Deckel FP2 withe a dividing head. I am waiting for it to get delivered. I have been going crazy thinking of all the things I want to do with it. One project I know I want to do is make an adapter like you did for mounting things to the dividing head. Would you have any drawings or note that you could share? Thank you for all the great videos.
Regarding the fine thread screw, M10x1. What is the most commen fine thread pitch in Germany? Regarding buying screws and thread cutters? Or when you had to decide on two fine threads sizes for your shop projects which one would you chose for adjusting knop things?
I'm watching Stefan deburr parts as I'm deburring parts lol
I’m just wondering what music festival you are going to in France. 🎉🤣
Hi Stefan, I always enjoy the content, thank you for sharing your adventure. I happen to be a fortunate owner a Deckel SO grinder (circa 1952), and the toolhead runs the spindle with a plain bearing. Is your opinion that the ball bearing work head is a significant advantage? I am a simple hobbyist, and use the grinder occasionally for its designed purposes.
you really dont NEED to eat Stefan 😁
thank you
Cool bushing removel method 2 operations in 1👍🏻😉.
Any chance you could help out with making a set of hobby drills.... 0.10mm-2.0mm maybe 10x drills to a set.... I think D bit drills will be better and stronger than normal type twist drills
Re 13:30, one should think that you were one of my cement packaging colleagues from Beckum. Even those of them that design other applications are always yakking about that fscking cement as reason for using slotted screws.
Thanks for sharing 👍
We can look forward to Part 4 sometime in 2026? Pesky Customer Jobs 😁
Very nice! 🙂
15:00 Jump Scare for machinists
Great :D But i hate jumpscares ,during sawjops on the millingmashine. :P
Did you make a video on that chamfering tool?
Do you lock the Y axis when infeeding for a cut, like for instance on that x ring groove?
Frage, wieso geht der Schlitz nicht komplett durch ? (t=1102s) Also mir ist interessant was ist der Unterschied, wenn es komplett durchgeschnitten wäre und wie hier - nicht ?
Are you able to provide the name for the green colour you used?
Are you rock climbing on your road trip?
I see you have some Wera Joker ratcheting wrenches. Is the 12 point open end with the metal plate inset as useful as the marketing makes it out to be, or is it a useless gimmick? I have been drooling over those since the first time I saw them, but at the price I would like some first hand opinions before I buy them.
Gimmick. Get good open end/ratcheting combination wrenches that are not wera.
Right on👍🏻
Have a nice holiday. Don't eat too many frogs legs 😊
You published your video 3 minutes after a new Clickspring video. Am I supposed to split myself, or watch them both simultaneously on two monitors? ;-)
What was the vacuum doing while you were deburring ? it was making some weird noises.
The vacuum has a self cleaning filter funktion. That is the banging noise
Can you share where you get your motors? And do you have 3 phase in your shop, or just vfd?
In Germany, even residences have three phase power - thus his shop does have it. I’m envious.
@@624Dudley wow! That is such a luxury!
Hi guys, can someone suggest a cold blue compound in EU?
👍😎👍
👍😎
You keep talking about buying food. You want to buy more tools and machines, I suspect ;-)
Third! 😂
Deadlines are good!
