I strongly recommend (if you have a lathe) to get the lathe attachment. It holds things in a way that you can use to make jigs to hold other things like chisels.

I can’t explain the reason, but I really enjoy these tool/shop project update videos more than customer project videos, even though I love those as well. Seeing your equipment, your modifications, and your workflow tips are just so fascinating and I learn so much. Thanks for always sharing when you can.

I thought the whole workpiece may have pinched the slitting saw, but I was quite shocked when the bushing popped out, not as much as I would have been if I had of been there, but still my eyes went a bit wider! Glad it didn't ruin anything!

I thought I had missed something, I'll have to watch again as I can't remember what you did in part one or two?
Don't remember watching Robin 's video either 😁
You could probably use some silicon spray on the X-rings, it won't attract dust and will be completely dry in a few hours.

Thank You for the update! Watched all Robins and Your videos about this. I have exactly the same one and use it all the time. It has done the job fairly well just out of the box, turned 10 extra wheel holders for it. Was not able to find them online and made some special ones for cutting discs as well. Bought nuts from Aliexpress with lock screws so they can turn both ways since I plan to replace the motor. Reverse would be useful for carbide. Planning to pimp mine as well, but having it out of commission does not seem viable presently. Perhaps buying a second one and fix it and later sell the other one would be an option. I got the C5 since I have a lot of C5 stuff such as square collets etc, but agree on it being a bit clumsy compared to the original Deckel (which I unfortunately not have anymore). The head is in a way nicer with the ball bearings though.

I love the @robrenz resonance! That oops (x2) with the sleeve helps keep my moral up. It's great to see someone with your hours on the job still having to pick themselves up after a slip up.
I ran into a D-Bit grinder here in Canada that surprised me. It didn't have a tapered spindle instead had a fixed arbor machined on the end of the shaft. Apparently these machines are not all created equal! That might be an interesting topic about these import machines and where to find the better quality ones. It seems to me that these grinders would be much less useful without the grinding wheel adapters that would run true during a wheel change.

Projects taking way longer than they should? Hmmm sounds familiar. Customer work must come first unless your project is needed for said customer work. Would you have made the same moment arm addition to a genuine Deckle D bit grinder? It looks like a handy addition. I do enjoy the shop tool making when you can squeeze them in. I am glad to hear that business is doing well. Cheers

I am thinking of building something like it. I have a machine modification sickness. I know you are busy, Could you tell me which video it is in , so I can really get a good look at it? Hi Stefan, I always enjoy the content, thank you for sharing your adventure. I happen to be a fortunate owner a Deckel SO grinder (circa 1952), and the toolhead runs the spindle with a plain bearing. Is your opinion that the ball bearing work head is a significant advantage? I am a simple hobbyist, and use the grinder occasionally for its designed purposes.
