In this series, Prof. Greg Araya from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) teaches how to create TV and broadcast ready animations with Adobe Animate. Make a modular template for a repeating fence pattern.
What you learned: Use the drawing and selection tools, gradient fills, and transforms to create multiple instances of a design element.
    * Edit the walk cycle Symbol by double-clicking on it. Inside the Symbol, Un-Guide the foot position and stride length layers so they become visible up the hierarchy.
    * Ensure that the exposures for all this Symbol’s layers is exactly twenty-four frames. To ensure that there are tween targets where needed, select the entire column of frame twenty-four and convert all those frames to Keyframes.
    * Once frame twenty-four has been converted to Keyframes on all Layers, select and delete all the exposures on frame twenty-five.
    * Back out of that Symbol to the main Stage Timeline.
    * Create a new Layers for the fence and for notes.
    * Lock all layers but the fence.
    * Draw and modify the first fencepost using the Rectangle Tool and Direct Selection Tool.
    * Fill the fencepost with a linear gradient. Adjust the orientation of the gradient with the Gradient Transform Tool. You may need to click on the Edit Toolbards (three dots) button at the bottom of the Toolbar to access this tool.
    * Edit the colors of the fence gradient using the Color panel.
    * Convert the fencepost to a Graphic Symbol.
    * Alt/Option-Drag the fencepost two more times to make three instances of the Symbol on one Layer. These will not be animated on this layer so it is okay to have multiples here.
    * Align the points of each fencepost with the registration marks of the stride length guide. Move the fenceposts into position so it appears as though the character’s feet are resting on the tops.
    * Select the three fenceposts and convert the selection to a Graphic Symbol.
    * Edit the middle fencepost in place by double-clicking on it.
    * Alter the shape of the fencepost with the Direct Selection Tool to decrease the gaps between the posts.
    * Introduce variety in the shape of the fenceposts by converting the first three frames of the Symbol’s Timeline to Keyframes.
    * Set the Looping Options for each keyframe to Single Frame of frames 1,2 and 3 respectively.
    * Once again, edit the fencepost in place by double-clicking on it. Slightly change the shape of each frame of the fencepost.
    * Save your incremental progress as a new file.
