This is the best modelling App I've ever used and now I discover it can do animation? (And yeah - I've used 3D software since before 3D Studio became 3D Studio Max or even 3DS Max.) The barrier to entry is so low, there's no excuse not to have Blockbench in your arsenal.

I justify it as in case I want to apply an effect to whole model, like squashing during jumpsquat and landing, but I never see anyone else do this so I wonder if its pointless or straight up bad

I have a question, how do you add the animation into the game for a mob. Basically I created a mob with the entity wizard and then I animated it and I can't seem to get the animation to work in the game even though the .json file is in the animation folder. Ive looked at the behavior json and the other json under entity and noticed all the animatinos were labeled humanoid (i made this mob with the zombie base which had no animations which is why I think it was this way compared to some other mobs which started with animations) so I changed them and loaded up the world but there was still no change, in short how do you add custom animations or apply animatinos to the game files etc etc??
1. Do you installed the plugin? Just go "file" scroll down to "plugin" and search for "Animated Java" and install it 2. Its also for Java soo.. have fun mate.
Do newer versions of blockbench not allow you to change the type of keyframe (linear, smooth, etc)? I'm using a Geckolib model, if that may be the problem.

So Blockbench doesn´t have animation layers yet? Here is an example: layer 1- animate a 1 second loop of a flapping wing layer 2- animate a 10 second loop of the bird flying off (changing its position through space/air) result: the bird will loop fly for 10 seconds and the 1 second flapping loop will work throughout the entire 10 seconds! You need to nest the folders for the arms under the folder with the body.
I can’t animate when I rotate my thing it moves the whole thing is it Becuse I saved it?
When you rotate a bone (folder), everything in the folder will rotate. If you want to animate a single object, make sure it has its own folder.
