    Same here, I loved Moleskine and used it for a while, but two weeks ago, I discovered Leuchturm1917 and loved it even more and with this video, now I am sure that I will continue with Leuchturm1917. Thank you very much.

    Very helpful videos. I'm just starting to "get into" the whole quality notebook world and it's helpful to know that the much vaunted Moleskine line isn't all it's cracked up to be.

      +WastedPo Far as I'm concerned Leuchtturm1917 is FAR superior.

    However, the Moleskine feels better in hand and looks better for its size and its rounded corners. The leather on the soft cover is so beautiful. The paper is thin and too transparent but that's the charm - you want your notes to look a little messy. It's ideal for artists and fast notes, fast sketches. It's not like an Montblanc journal for business people and that's why I like it.

    Very helpful review, thanks. You're right about the quality of the Moleskine softcover, it is lovely. However, for this fountain pen user, Moleskine paper has become impossible. I'll be switching over today and gifting my remaining Moleskines to the ballpoint pen users in my life.

    How do the spines hold up as far as opening them all the way? Also which one lays better on a flat surface while writing?

    • @journaljoy
      @journaljoy  10 років тому +2

      Hi Jessica! Both notebooks have pretty flexible spines in terms of bending them back all the way. The Leuchtturm spine tends to hold up better over time and is also the one that lies flatter. Hope that helps! :)

    I use both but actually prefer moleskin paper, Maybe the paper is back up to par, I have two 2021 and the moleskin paper is definitely thicker.

    I only have one Moleskine, it's a Evernote one, but it has much better paper quality than the one you shoved here. Just wanted to say that you can get them with good paper as well :)

      @@i2harry Do you know that they have an actual leather version of their notebooks? Black and a light cognac brown that looks like that caramel colour. Except ofcourse; real leather. And really costly.

    Only two brands write better than Leuchtturm 80gm paper: Rhodia and Midori . But Midori makes too whimsical notebooks (coloured ribbons, bare binding) for my liking without indexes in the front. And Rhodia notebooks hurt the eye to look at, but the paper is excellent (I just buy RHodia paper pads and use a Leuchtturm Master notebook for more dedicated writing. Plus a Leuchtturm planner to battle my alcohol -induced forgetfulness lol).

    • @journaljoy
      @journaljoy  4 роки тому

      Yes I wish Rhodia would update their Webbie cover. You might like the Quo Vadis Habana, it uses the same Clairfontaine paper as Rhodia...

    I recently switched to the Leuchtturm, I used to love Moleskine but lately the paper has been getting worse and worse. Saying that what pens do you use? I've been using Pilot G2s for years but I tried a Uniball Signo 0.38 and it felt a lot smoother.

    • @journaljoy
      @journaljoy  10 років тому

      Hi there! Same here! I use the Uniball Signo 0.7 most often. I like it better than the Pilot G2. Also use just a plain Bic Roundstick medium and recently started using a Fountain Pen again, a Pilot Metropolitan Medium nib, which performs beautifully on the Leuchtturm paper. It's such a smooth Fountain pen for a great price!

      Hey L Luna, I honestly don't know much about pen inks in terms of how long lasting they are. If you are wondering about fountain pen ink, I'm sure Brian Goulet from gouletpens.com would know which inks last a long time. Maybe he even knows about Rollerball ink. There's also Stephen Brown, m.youtube.com/#/user/sbrebrown, who is a fountain pen expert and might know. Hope that helps! :)

      @EthDuck: i read your note inquiring about what pen. the Pilot Precise V7 Fine Rolling Ball is a high-performance pen, if you're leaning toward a ballpoint or rolling ball pen. i declared this the best pen (out of the ballpoint/rolling ball bunch) way back in October of 2005. now, 9 years later, the same exact pen is still being manufactured. trust me when i say it's good. :)

    I just got two of the larger sized Leuchtturm notebooks. One is ruled and the other is a sketchbook. Can anyone advise on the type of pen i should be using in the ruled notebook? Good video btw.

      Hi there! I personally love using a Uniball signo 0.7, also a pilot g2 works well, any ballpoint pen of course like a Bic Round stic. I also like using a fountain pen with it, if you are new to it I can highly recommend the Pilot Metropolitan, amazing pen for around $15. Hope that helps! :)

    Hey there, what model is your Leuchtturm Notebook? I love the brown cover, but can't find it anywhere. If you have an online link to where I can buy it from, that'll be great as well.

    • @journaljoy
      @journaljoy  10 років тому

      Hi there! It's the caramel colored notebook. Unfortunately Leuchtturm has discontinued this color, which I'm very sad about.
      If you contact them on their official website leuchtturm1917.com (not Kikkerland)- they might still have some inventory left and sell it to you.
      And let them know you want that color back! Maybe if enough people write them we can make it happen! :) It was by far the prettiest color in my opinion but they told me that the market is asking for different colors (candy colors, meh). Hope this helps! :)

      Rene R. Sanchez Jr Hi there! I’m glad you like my videos. It’s a German brand hence the German pronunciation. As a native German speaker I know how to pronounce the name correctly. But thanks for your input.
