I wouldn't go lower in the rear but just some new coil springs in the front would level it out perfectly. Just stock new coils because first gens have soft coils that sag down over the 20+ years in the road
I agree, new springs up front will balance it, but if you are gonna change the rear again, do it soon, as the suspension parts will wear into place, exposed threads will corrode again, etc. either way, the new shocks were needed anyways, well done
before you start working on the frame get you a sand blast attachment for that pressure washer of yours it will make life so much easier take it from a guy that's twice as old as you. also to get even more rust off you can spray the frame and all the steel parts with Easy-Off oven cleaner in the yellow can it's caustic so keep it off the aluminum. but it'll make everything nice and pretty and ready for paint.
Hey Greg, I did my frame when I had my bed off. Wire wheeled everything, then I pressure washed it, then I brushed rust dissolver on and then washed it again. (Be careful not to get it on the body paint). Then I put a couple coats of rustoleum heavy rust primer on the frame and then 2-3 coats of gloss black rustoleum. All the paint was brushed on to get it thick. Been a couple years now and still look great. Good luck.
I would run it for a bit to see if doesn't settle down when the new shocks get some miles on them. It looks good either way though. Love that rear view.
Thanks Greg for everything you do. I am looking at getting my first diesel "04 5.9 Cummins" for my bbq business. Hope to see you at some Mid-Atlantic area diesel events.
GREG_ALBERALLA try some rust converter on the frame, it not only gets rid of the rust but it also primes the metal for paint. I did it on my 79 F150 and it worked wonders
Shocks dont settle... They are either good or bad and the truck wont sag if you remove them completly. And the springs are allready sagged after 30 years.
whats next neon under glows? lighted shift knob? i hope ya put some traction bars on it, without them overloads talk about major axle wrap, crazy pinion angle.
from my eye it looks like the front of the bed is lower and the back is higher which is giving most height change. check bed and cab mounts to see before doing something really difficult. also dent removal, hot water with the ball applying pressure and then ice cold water to shock it and sometimes will pop it out. also suction cups with heat might work.
pull out the other spring and put the one you took out back in. it will let the rear sit just a little lower and provide support when it drops down just a little in the bed.
Take that last helper out and the height will be perfect. Needs tint, traction bars, a roll pan that's not crooked as hell, black led headlights and maybe refresh the interior along with some bucket seats.
looks badass with the roll pan and take that other Leaf out and I think it would be perfect. but it would probably be too spongy without that other Leaf you might have to move the spring perch just my opinion
Hey Greg A you got a huge shout out on one of TC9700gaming channel he's really digging the first gen build. It's in his spin tires welcome to west fork bogs video
quick question about 4th gens and fitting wheels on them, do you think you could fit a 20x12 american force wheel on stock ride height on a 2014 Ram 250p cummins? I seen in a video a few weeks back, one of your buddies with the white 4th gen was running 12 wides and didnt look like it was more than a levelling kit on the truck
don't take more leafs out get drop shackles. I know the truck isn't going to haul but you're still taking away integrity from the spring. love the build man can't wait for more
Caleb Carlton it was just water. He said it was raining earlier and there are drain holes in the bed so when they lowered the rear the water could get to the drain. Nothing to worry about.
try this stuff on the frame. its called Krud Kutter rust remover and inhibitor. try this before using a wire wheel on the frame. you just pre-wet the frame and coat it with the krud kutter and pressure wash off. here is a link to it on grainger but you can get it at alot of places www.grainger.com/product/36P490?cm_mmc=PPC:+MSN+PLA?campaignid=229053149&s_kwcid=AL!2966!10!8973609293!1102900020296&ef_id=WUgoHgAAAYTHGShC:20170619193806:s
Awesome stance now it looks mean almost ready to go for a nice long drive in it and what about the front shocks they might be wore out to making the front sit a little lower than normal if replaced the front might level out with the rear
The shocks do not dictate the ride height, the springs are what sets the ride height the shocks only control the motion of the suspension as it moves through it's range of motion.

Greg A P.O.R. 15 would do wonders for that ole frame on Scrap Pap. I used P.O.R. 15 on my 96 2500 Chevy it looks good, can't complain.

Also I think the stance is fine. I like the tiny bit of rake to it, gives it that aggresive look.
Thanks Greg for everything you do. I am looking at getting my first diesel "04 5.9 Cummins" for my bbq business. Hope to see you at some Mid-Atlantic area diesel events.
Does he have a lift on this truck? Or do 20x12’s fit under there without it? I have a first gen and need to know!
GREG_ALBERALLA try some rust converter on the frame, it not only gets rid of the rust but it also primes the metal for paint. I did it on my 79 F150 and it worked wonders
Use por15 with a harbor freight detail gun on the frame. Did that on my 98 Cummins and it worked great. 🤘
where did you get those clamps also try chassis saver on that frame I used it on my 1st gen works great
Looks sick but prolly would look a lot better with the other leaf out !
One more leaf. And traction bars.
You should paint the valve covers same color scheme as the truck, light grey into darker grey into light again with a red pin stripe 🤙🏼
hot damn is right Sir its amazing how badass you can make a patina'd pick up look with a couple new parts and some cleaning
Greg another great video! My only complaint is I could watch for hours and these 10-15 minute videos are such a tease. First gen is looking great!
Back is still high because new shocks are brand new. let it settle for a week.
Shocks dont settle... They are either good or bad and the truck wont sag if you remove them completly. And the springs are allready sagged after 30 years.
Ape Hoaxman says the guy with one WOW video on his channel. 😂😂😂😂
whats next neon under glows? lighted shift knob? i hope ya put some traction bars on it, without them overloads talk about major axle wrap, crazy pinion angle.

Tires and rims set it off nicely.
Who makes those tires?
I think the rake loooks amazing man i wouldnt mess with it...Drive it around a little bit see if it settles a little bit though!
pull out the other spring and put the one you took out back in. it will let the rear sit just a little lower and provide support when it drops down just a little in the bed.
Take that last helper out and the height will be perfect. Needs tint, traction bars, a roll pan that's not crooked as hell, black led headlights and maybe refresh the interior along with some bucket seats.
My as well pull the other overload now while the hardware is still nice and clean and easy to work with.
was there a particular reason you didn't just go with drop shackles instead of removing leaves?
needs tint ASAP
jperkey7089 I'd tint it for free.
Good morning Greg A fam!
Were did you get those coolent clamps from. I like how wide they are
Loving the videos and the trucks. I am wondering the brand of hood you are running on the third gens.
When you restore the back half of the chassis you should get it sandblasted then paint over in black
looks badass with the roll pan and take that other Leaf out and I think it would be perfect. but it would probably be too spongy without that other Leaf you might have to move the spring perch just my opinion
Hey Greg A you got a huge shout out on one of TC9700gaming channel he's really digging the first gen build. It's in his spin tires welcome to west fork bogs video
Looks like your driver side headlight is dimly on or the passenger side headlight is out
Greg A.what do you think about the newest 6.7 cummins
How much fuel in tank? just a full tank might be enuff to get that extra little bit...
The first gen looks sooo good! Ugh...... I want one
Greg. what do you think about the newest 6.7 cummins
Love the videos. Best cummins project channel
i would leave it, if u ever put anything heavy in the bed, u dont wannna look like a ford dragging on the ground with a tinny load ;)
Brian Reiff that's what the tow pig is for

Heaven Of course you can put 20x12 wheels on it stock height I just don't recommend driving on just the rims without tires 😂
smcox1991 and 33s sorry lol
reminds me of the truck from gamer but the one from gamer was a chevy that had a chopped lowered roof.
Permatex rust treatment works very good it would be a quick and easy fix for the frame and any thing else that is rusty
It's a 3/4 ton truck I think it needs a little rake to it. It's perfect.
Do u plan on doing any new lights on it?
Needs a visor over the windshield, another leaf taken out and the rollpn straightened and if sent it
This might sound dumb but it looks bent in half where the bed and the cabin meet
Stance is perfect. Don't change it.
I think the rake looks sick
love the truck but your going to get bad axel wrap without that overload in it!!
Hey Jesse, what are those?!?
great vids need tint on 12 valve
Greg, honestly we all know you'll eventually get this thing in show room shape as much as you deny it lol.
you need to try fishermen's friend cough drops
"Wait till you see what I got for ya tomorrow" (said on Friday)
Greg can you get us some decals or something of that nature? wouldn't mind rocking a few on my vehicles
Rye Shields35 seconds ago
Looks sick but prolly would look a lot better with the other leaf out !
don't take more leafs out get drop shackles. I know the truck isn't going to haul but you're still taking away integrity from the spring. love the build man can't wait for more
halls, good enough for Greg A. new sponsor for the channel?? now paint the pumpkin cover yella to match the new shock jobs! lol
how come ur keft headlights always on
rain? not here in NJ! ugh
looks great but not be a buzzkill what up with the tailgate gap with the rollpan looks like an 1 1/2" difference from left to right
He just threw it on real quick. A mock up for our viewing pleasure. Surely it will be straight when it goes on for good.
Kent 06-3500 looks like the bottom left of the Rope ant is rolled up and that's why it has it out of square he needs to measure both sides
sorry roll pan not rope ant
I think it looks good the way it is👍🏼
20 on the windshield on the first gen soon?
Why dose the driver side head light barely on when it's running?
At 7:27 you can see at the best
looks pretty dope for a dodge!!!!
Why is your roll pan crooked?
build a small weight box where spare tire would be
definitely looks like you installed the rollpan while only wearing one shoe
looks good! but yeah needs more low
put another leaf on the front?
Tomcat mentioned you in his newest video , he says hes a fan of your Gen1 and all your trucks 😅😂 just to let you know 👊
Tint the windows. Can't remember if you said you couldn't or not
next time do one side at a time that way the center bolts arent a bitvh to line up.
Leave it alone, it looks good.
left side of bumper was a lil low
Never been this early before. Cool vids man
I think the ride height looks perfect
What was the stuff pouring out ?
Caleb Carlton it was just water. He said it was raining earlier and there are drain holes in the bed so when they lowered the rear the water could get to the drain. Nothing to worry about.
I do like that idea of removing dents. very cleva
Just put new front spring it looks to low
bit love the videos
look at Dr x rust remover for that frame!
hey I am Frome tomcats UA-cam channel he kinda showed you out
Who's channel was this? Thanks!
Its gonna ride like an ole buckboerd wagon! lol!
when are you making her posi?
nice clean builds tho I like your videos man
can anyone help out im trying to fine a good chip or programmer for my 2012 durmax
try this stuff on the frame. its called Krud Kutter rust remover and inhibitor. try this before using a wire wheel on the frame. you just pre-wet the frame and coat it with the krud kutter and pressure wash off. here is a link to it on grainger but you can get it at alot of places

Why do they call no boost no boost?
SEND IT!
Paint those shocks black!!! Please.
dont remove leafs. just get the leaf springs de arched
Awesome stance now it looks mean almost ready to go for a nice long drive in it and what about the front shocks they might be wore out to making the front sit a little lower than normal if replaced the front might level out with the rear
Hunter Prowse good call I agree

Well when I changed my rear shocks I gain a half inch not sure why if what u say is true
Did you measure it before you changed the shocks then set it down and measured again right away?
Ya
Greg.the ole girl looks AWEsome!!!!Just need some Johnyy send it LOPE!!!to it,Cause it looks bad!!!!Make it sound that way,,,2
Get lowering shackles to
wheels to wide for the tires
Pull other helper leaf
Hey Greg A!
looks the same then again my truck is 5/9 and i feel its not that low 😂
I love no boost!
Roal pan ain't streight one side is lower than the other
That rear end is ALL MEAT NO POTATOES
POR-15!
i second the por15 it is a tuff as nails rust converter and it is gloss black
Zay Phillips Yeah, and its the best rust preventative coating out there, and you don't even really need to wire wheel too much.
