Griffith seeks to become the ruler of Reality and Fantasy, to become the Supreme Being in all of existence, overthrowing the other God Hand, the Elemental Kings and even the Idea of Evil.
that would be kinda rad. actually... there could be nothing more appropriate. as Guts said, Griffith just keeps going higher and higher.... it would be a mistake to put a limit on his ambition.... it could indeed eventually reach as high as usurping the other fingers of the godhand, or even usurping the idea of evil itself. While reading in Rickert's shoes, I was wondering about Falconia.... "why? at what cost? what's the catch? there HAS to be a catch, right?" Is Griffith at hist truest, deepest, authentic self evil? or is his truest deepest vision truly that of a utopia, with no other catches or gotchas aside from the price already paid at the eclipse, "for the greater good" if you would? If there are no extra catches to his utopia.... every sign so far indicates he is tearing down old notions of good and evil.... between humans anyway.... even if he has to redirect the common enemy to be the creatures of fantasy. idk I'm rambling by now. Anyway great observation you got there.

This must be the best video about Berserk on UA-cam. The insight into the deeper consequences and ultimate meanings of Miura's world structure is lucid and extremely focused, while the exposition is crystal-clear.
To all those who say Berserk isn't worth reading past the Eclipse...ooh what are they losing.
Having finished the video, I just realised how much of a dumbass I am. Time to re-read Berserk because I missed all of this.

It shows how good of a writer he is. People hate Griffth so much, that they miss the amazing things he accomplished out of sheer hate of a character.
It’s one of the harder things to do well tbh.

Awesome work, i think it's safe to say that StudioTaka has the best Berserk content on youtube. The person who wrote the episodes of these series really knows what he is talking about.
It's a collaborative effort with Soaring Falcon and few other members of the community. Studio Taka mainly handles the production of the videos but I do work closely with the teams to make sure it's the quality we aim for.

@CW Soaringfalcon and I do a mix of writing and editing that varies by video. Auryn (the narrator) helped edit the script for this video as well. The efforts involved are pretty balanced. You can find information about contributions in the credits.
@CW I usually come up with the video idea and lay out the topic in my first written draft. Auryn helped with fixing grammar and expression, Seasnipper also does that but sometimes also adds her own ideas to the script. Usually I also overlook the process of making the video where I collect the necessary pages and give feedback on the editing, although that's minimal work compared to what Shaybs does in regards to that.
Alexandzcr has a real good channel too concerning other berserk aspects but yeah that one is real good

It feels like the god hand wants to create a livestock of humans for a greater sacrifice for maybe the next member of the godhand. Maybe that's why Griffith chose to create this big city and tried to unite all.

Loved the deep analysis, poetic wording and the structure of the script gives it a cohesive narrative that only aids to bring the message across while being incredibly fitting for the type of story is telling. Masterfully done.
It makes since. Griffith wants to be a GOD.
Guts carried Griffith. He was a leader of a lowly mercenary band before he had Guts. Sure they weren't bad, but Guts took them to lofty heights. When Guts left he lost it all.
The whole arc was about Guts' dream of swinging his sword around - Griffith just thought it was about his dream.
Not to mention Guts, outside of politics, made a better leader than Griffith. The band could've easily lived a good life not chasing royalty, but Griffith was an ambitious man.
Awesome Berserk video, I really love the work Studio Taka is doing, I myself was not only inspired by Kentaru Miura to produce Berserk Motion Comic in my channel, but also inspired by Studio Taka for an Amazing job they are doing producing these videos.
This channel is the epitome of quality over quantity. Astounding job as always.
This theme presented here hews closely to the Millenarianism movement and how its hope was fueled by tremendous blood sacrifice, mainly from the disenfranchised and uprooted mentioned above.
I miss Miura's art so much. Also, the editing is on point.

@CW His current style is so mediocre and kind of bland. I know he's probably not the one actually drawing, but that only makes it worse.

His current style is different because he switched from traditional drawing to Digital, which is why his current style is a lot “cleaner”. Personally I still think his art looks great, and his attention to detail hasn’t changed, but your opinion is your opinion

I feel awful for Princess Charlotte, honestly. Like she's one of the people of midland who's got it worst in a way...
Not even close, Charlotte was in a cushy castle her entire life. Even when the Kushan took over she was still treated like royalty. Of all the people in the story she's probably had it the best... So far.

I think me saying she's got it worse is going overboard, but she's definitely fucked and it's not really addressed much.

Would love some thoughts on the following:
1/ How was Reborn Griffith able to manifest his Femto form atop Ganishka? We know the Godhand are typically only able to manifest through certain forms.
2/Given that time is a spiral in the world of Berserk, what is the endgame for Femto?
And Void?
You may hate me for it BUT I still think that Griffith (or what part of him is left in Femto) is a tragic hero who will, in the end, bring a happy resolution for all.
that could be an interesting ending. Guts has to accept that Griffith made the world a better place, but will still kill him.

It is set up that Griffith is the embodiment of the Übermensch, the man who knows the nature of the world and by his will to power is bent on changing it, and Guts is becoming the last man, the one who also has seen the true nature of the world, but instead of wanting to change it, he accepts it and moves on with his life. His character arc becomes more and more clear, he is slowly abandoning his quest for vengeance to instead build a new future with those he cares about. Having Guts kill Griffith would be such a dissonant shift in the themes and narrative that has been established over the last few arcs that it would seem extremely jarring. There will probably be a fight before Guts finishes his transition, but I think that this fight will never conclude for Griffith is not the true antagonist of Berserk, it is Guts, or more specifically, the dark side of him that is personified by the Beast of Darkness and supported by the Berserker Armor, and this is this part of him that Guts will have to slay or tame, killing Griffith would embolden this part instead

Thank you for this absolutely stunning video. Watching this made me again realize, that with the death of Miura we’ve lost the mastermind behind one of the greatest stories ever told. And this story will now never be finished by him. One of the greatest losses in art and storytelling the world has ever experienced.

Ganishka didn't oppose griffith because of his will power, it was griffith's plan to have an opposing force to defeat, a hero can only be measured by the villains he defeats.
Too bad the writers didn't make some improvement to the Berserk anime 2016 by adding these scenes from the Manga series because we get too much focus on Guts, Casca and the others, that we never get to see how Griffith rescue Princess Charlotte as well as being reunited and restore Midland to it's former Glory after defeating Emperor Ganishka.

This was a really well made video
i don't think most people understand. he was willing to give up his dreams, he already had when he symbolically let flowers off his hand while looking at the castle go away. Only thing he cared and loved was Guts, as long as Guts was with him and accepted his vulnerable burdening state he would've accepted it nomatter how much his coping mechanism of dreams collapsed.
But Griffith loved Guts. And him overhearing about Guts leaving, triggered him and his trauma.
When the one thing that made him forget even his dreams, the love of his life Guts left him, he ran to his coping mechanism of his dreams of gaining a kingdom, slept with princess, and destroyed him physically and status wise too. He felt if Guts were to leave again, what remains of him would be destroyed. Because of his love for Guts he was able to live through torture, but also left him emotionally vulnerable and desperate for an escape. This he overheard right after he offered up himself to casca to feel even a smidge of self worth in the eyes of someone else (casca wanted to at one point), but was instead rejected and was held in her hands. He was already utterly despaired and vulnerable, the thought of losing Guts again on top of all that? Broke him completely.
Its tragic that he still lived him till the very end before the godhands manipulated Griffith. He reached out to Guts inpulsively despite Griffiths own life was on stake, because he still chose Guts over his dream. It was Guts that let his hand go, and Griffith saw him being abandoned by him once again, watcing him plummet into the dark abyss.
I think Griffith finally snapped after this and this was the pushing factor to sacrifice Guts as well. Sort of a 「fuck you Guts」 gesture. Wanted to forget and cover his own weak human heart by tossing away the light in his darkness, Love that made him forget his cold, heartless dream. Sacrificing Guts was a ultimate form of self harm and destruction for Griffith.

@The Spell Alchemist Griggith doesn't ask for forgiveness first of all. Moreover teamming doesn't necessary mean Guts forgiving Griffith
So basically, demons are the product of antisocial negative emotions, while the astral creatures are shared negative emotions produced from stories - a structured, educative fear, if you will.
Demons look more chaotic and eldritch, while astral creatures tend to have some structure and sense to them. Like a giant with a big beard can be a personification of a thing, but a large betentacled slug with several eyes and toothy mouths doesn't really mean anything other than "evil yucky".
The giant can be described to another person - it's a communicalbe idea. But a demon is born of the personal unreasoning, animal pain that only an individual can feel with regards to themself. The deadly astral creature is sane - there's a sense to them. They're a product of known dangers, the consequence of living in a dangerous world. They're written about in stories and folklore, so they're conquerable by man.
But a demon is insane, representative of something unknowable, thriving on fear of the unknown. Ironically, perhaps humanity didn't need Griffith to save them - they could use their own wits to conquer the astral creatures on their own. But humanity can't deal with demons, as demons are inherently a thing that disrupts collective understandig (in fact, those of great individual will and character are the only ones that can confront demons) - but humans get subverted into mass mind control by Griffith, because religion makes them ignorant and whatever (though religion would have historically helped many people expand their understanding of things in a pragmatic sense), we get the usual story of institutional greed parasitically corrupting those that politically fall under it. :V
Tl;dr Berserk was written by a right wing libertarian japanese man. Feel free to argue otherwise?

The purpose of the Godhand is to facilitate evil in the world. The point is to give the suffering of existence meaning to humans since that’s what the Idea of Evil says in the cut chapter. It was created for this purpose and that’s why Griffith is treated as God in the world of man because he’s their evil king like King Gaiseric/Skull Knight used to be before he died and became a wraith only motivated by revenge.

I feel that Griffith is going to make the same mistake he did last time, getting close to a higher position only to be distracted by something he written off as 'unimportant'. Whether he'll be distracted by Guts or something else is irrelevant, what matters is that he'll make the same fatal mistake again. And it will be the entire world that pays for his mistake this time around.
So are all apostles are supposed to follow Griffith regardless because he is God hand?
Pretty much, and if they don't do so, whatever they do will still fall into their hands because thats the hierarchy of their demonkind. Just look at how Ganishka ended up benefitting their goals.

I personally think that this is the equivalent of the jealous younger brother playing NCAA 2013 after blowing the last game he played against his older brother. He's still playing, only his brother left, and he's playing with the controller still on and there's no way the other team can win.

What is a man who have gained everything but without love? Really makes you think if you want a king or God who rules through pride and do anything to be in power or loves you enough to die for u. Just like this world, for the sake of riches, glory and comfort, people rather follow evil even when it's right in front of them. He's probably going to have to find some way to use his minute influence against causality to cascade a response within the human subconscious and desire in such a way that overrides and strips the God hand and idea of evil's power. He has to find a way to return free will to mankind by taking it from the idea of evil again. No small feat when he's a single person. But it seems that those he interacts with can at times he affected by whatever unique flow he has.
