Regarding "de-nazifying": Russian education doesn't emphasize the anti-Semitism of the Nazis, so the word has a different cultural connotation. Russia suffered absolute horror at the hands of Germany (and themselves but no one's admitting that) Their Holocaust is focused on the loss of Russian lives, not atrocities committed against Jews; this means being a "Nazi" has become synonymous to being an enemy of Russia.
Its tragic how often people discredit the Russian's sacrifices in WW2. I've heard many Americans claim that the USA saved the day in WW2, but I find this hard to believe given the Russians lost tens of millions of souls to the germans... if the Russians hadn't taken so much of Germany's attention, it is doubtful the allies would have progressed the way they did. If Americans have the right to call their enemies "terrorists" then the Russians certainly have the right to call their enemies "Nazis"
@@JackPitmanNica you do realise that neither the USSR nor Russia have ever cared about how many of their citizens would die, so long as their strategic goals are accomplished. In the eyes of the west, the loss of tens of millions of people is tragic. To countries like Russia or China, it is a small and insignificant price to pay for victory. The truth is, without USA's industrial might, even USSR would have lost in WW2, they themselves admitted it. The allies were willing to win the war with their money and wealth. USSR was willing to win the war by using its citizens' lives as fodder. USSR was as responsible for their terrifying loss in human lives as the Nazi Germany was. It was not the reason why the war was won, human lives were worth less than a penny to them.
Fair enough; but why must we give all the credit to one side? Why must we always paint a picture where somebody comes in as a hero? But hey, most people love to disrespect Russians so I'm sure people will agree with you@@lonefish8128
@@JackPitmanNicaI think that's the cold war. From what I've learned in America... if it wasn't for the US, Europe probably would've fallen to the Nazis, and Russia probably would've reached a stalemate on their front. IOW, the Russians weren't going to liberate the rest of Europe, if the US had stayed neutral. And then, once Germany had developed nukes before Russia, which would've happened in that scenario, then Russia would've surrendered. However, even though Russia helped Germany attack Poland at first, their later opposition was necessary to split the German army between western and eastern fronts. If the Germans could've focused all of their efforts on western europe, then in that scenario, the US might've arrived too late (Germany would've been in a much better position, if they hadn't had to battle Russia). So, Russia was definitely an important ally for 3 years. It took everyone's participation to win - Germany had the premier military, and the latest technology, when the war began. Russia was in somewhat rough shape, but the had a scale that Germany couldn't fathom.

Simon clarifies a lot of things, but…. clarifies them from a strictly hardline Western perspective that leaves absolutely no room whatsoever for the official Russian explanation of their actions. Simon speculates on the motivations for many things based on western opinions, rather than the clearly stated Russian explanation for why they did what they did. For example, he acts as if there were some secret battle with the west for supremacy over Georgia, on the contrary, Putin was very straightforward about exactly why he did what he did… Azerbaijan was attempting to export oil from the Caspian sea through Georgia, and that’s why Russia got involved, because the west was attempting to put an end run around their oil and gas industry

You know Simon's content is quality when he cites sources for information as he says it. I can count on one hand how many other channels do the same thing.
Citing sources doesn't make someone moral you know. Intellectuals have come to see citing sources as like, morality. It isn't. It's an empty action even the most evil of people can do. It's a sign of doing bare minimum intellectual research requirements. Not saying anything bad about Simon. Just weirds me out that people who pride themselves as intellectuals have made a false god out of anyone who cites their sources.
@godwarrior3403 was making Simon out to be a shining example. Just saying it's nice to have a channel to watch that makes it clear (even if it's the bare minimum thing) where they are getting their sorces from.
This and the “guns” special are amazing. Perfectly in depth and fitting for those of us who want “complete” analysis. Appreciate the work you and your team put in Simon. I know making this is time consuming, but I look forward to more!
It is, but please be critical of everything you watch on the internet: Ukraine had no separatism before Russia intervened and there is no evidence that majority of people in Crimea Donetsk and Luhansk wanted to leave Ukraine. There are still millions of Ukrainians in occupied and unoccupied territories that want Ukraine to get its 1991 borders back
@@TKUA11 yeah, no shit. (???) I fully believe in and support Ukraine’s campaign to reestablish its ‘91 borders… can you not recognize an ally or do you just presume to know what everyone is inherently thinking or subscribes to based off a general statement? lol in what world does my comment evoke such a response? You really think I sit here and listen to everything I see on internet and take it for fact? Don’t presume to know anything about me or my education. I’m a trained journalist who left the trade because I lost faith in the narrative publications push... from both sides. I support small market journalism and I believe Simon and his team are an unbiased treasure in an otherwise hostile and unbiased world. Whether you believe there was a separatist movement in the east of Ukraine or not, the fact of the matter is that they are under Russian control as we speak and the Russians will not give it back easily. Whether it was Putin’s “little green men” circa 2014 or the full scale invasion of 2022… history can’t be changed and it must be recorded. And-quite frankly- Ukraine’s east has been the ultimate form of Russian “Active measures”. It’s a confusing, complicated time in history… not everything is going to be black and white. With that said, and since I feel obliged to let you in on a little of where I stand: Do I believe those regions are Ukrainian? Yes. Do I believe the invasion of Ukraine was an attack on Europe, and by extension, an attack on the western world? Yes. Give em f-16’s & long range capabilities & free Ukraine now.
The fact this was two hours of such detail and more focused on his character building was fantastically interesting. Thank you. Maybe one of these could be done for other global political leaders.

This was a great listen. Though I am not sure why NATO is not a threat to Russia? NATO was formed against Soviet aggression. And if Putin is to be believed in his interview with Tucker Carlson, Russia was itself denied membership. Seems like the alliance did not want Russia in Nato and Nato wanted to still move closer to Russia geographically. That looks like an advance to me.
NATO is a defensive alliance. If a NATO member attacks another country they revoke their article 5 protection. Ukraine wanted to join NATO because they needed protection from the russian federation. russia had already attacked ukraine in 2014 when they took luhansk and donetsk and formed the LPR/DPR as puppet breakaway regions as well as storming crimea and taking the peninsula from them.
To point it out simply, Russia has nukes and JUST because of those any straight up war with Russia ends up risking Armageddon. NATO can check their influence sure, but they can't actually physically threaten Russia in a way that wouldn't backfire on everyone. Russia might not be the military powerhouse it advertised itself as, but a nuclear power is a nuclear power. There's also the fact that Russia and China have been trying to expand their influence both domestically and abroad (as well as deepen their mutual cooperation)...prior to them being moved to Ukraine, Wagner was helping to prop up puppet warlords in Africa in exchange for resource extraction (primarily gold). So while SOME argument could be made regarding NATO expansion, it kinda falls apart when you realize it's the pot calling the kettle black. Also their actions caused NATO to expand even further, so they were counterproductive anyway. P.S. Russia and China were still invited to the UN security council as a show of goodwill. Unfortunately this has resulted in a lot of gridlock, making the already impotent UN even less capable.
So much information. This guy is genius. 2 hours longgg and god knows how much it took him to gather all information to simplify it for his audience. Great job!! 👏

The amount of Simon and The Fat Electrition videos that I’ve shared to friends in the last few weeks is over 20. This will also be shared, you all do an amazing job. I love the research that goes into it and that you give us your sources. Most of my friends who I share these with attended the same critical thinking and critical researching classes as I did so we’ve been able to really sink our teeth into these topics and have readily available “verified” sources to utilize rather than having to pick through the trash of “information” online. Love you, thank you, and we all hope you and your families enjoy life!💚
Fat Electrician is slept on.
The Fat Electrician is awesome.
It is a really good video, but it really isn’t true that Ukraine had separatism before Russias involvement. If you want to see what Ukrainians think of separatism, please check the map of Ukraine voting for independence, even 53 percent of Crimea voted for independence in 1991.
Dude i hope the ppl you're sending this too will enjoy it or else getting these types of videos can be really exhausting

Simon & Crew's transition from variety show to hardcore investigative reporting is truly unbelievable.
If a fight is inevitable, you have to throw the first punch? It's 90 seconds to midnight.
So, you want to be the one to get punched first? 😂
I immediately thought of the nuclear strike implications of this as well.
Took me a minute and 30 seconds to get the comment. Yes, we are screwed. We are ruled by madmen.
That's what game theory says
the fact that we're still here means the fight is not inevitable yet, or western leaders are so paralyzed by bureaucracy and indecisiveness and Putin has years still to throw said first punch

Haven’t even watched the vid yet…. I’m a simple man; I see a 2 hour warographics documentary on Putin and I click like
Well, the warographic is masterfully done, no doubt, but imho it is really stupid to name Pitin a warlord. He doesn't fall under that defenition.
He is the head of horrifingly-hard-to-control federation with a reereally complex government system, put in his place thanks to a compromise between "Siloviks" and "Oligarchs", in the midst of eternal "War of Kremlins' Towers"
A warlord is a guy in charge of a micro pseudo-state with an ierarchy represented by one straight line.
Putin is an internal compromise representing power of conflicting groups

Just finished watching it. I knew most of the information, which is not meant to say that it isn't well written and informative, because it is. Well done, team!
Here, I've finally finished watching this video. Incredible work, incredibly detailed, superb narration all over. You really went out of your way to put this out to the world.
Personally, I think that if he really has cancer, it has to be responsible of a lot of his actions for this war. Cancer has a way of making people realize that they're under a time limit to accomplish life goals or enjoy "bucket list" moments. His actions definitely strike me as those of someone whose time is running out.
I was born in 52 just like Putin. I’m in good health but time is definitely limited. You don’t have to be ill to feel the pressure to achieve long term goals.
Really good biography video 👍🏻
That it's a British guy commenting that "the age of kings have come to an end" seems ironic.... yet oddly fitting at the same time. 😁😁
King Charles has basically no real power. Putin is closer to shut. An actual king than Charles is.
Charles is the most toothless monarch ever, he doesn't even have the late Lizzie's personal popularity. He's basically an empty crown, so yes, it is at an end
Ever since about 1910 the British monarchs power has greatly fallen to the prime Minister. They can cast a tiebreaker vote and ve an ambassador bur that's about it. Queen Victoria and Albert were likely the last real ones.
@AeneasGemini His brother is a pedo and Charles somehow manages to be less popular than him.
This guy is a master at western propaganda
"if a fight is inevitable, you have to throw the first punch. "

brutal. this is awesome. i see a lot a things much clearer now. this is quality content. hats off evan!

But they didn't include the Muscovites amongst the Rus. The Muscovites offered the Mongols their service..🧐
Thank you for a comprehensive and detailed video Simon and team! Really good to get an in-depth analysis. If you've going to do such long videos, could you consider posting them as podcast? And/or maybe signpost parts? I listened to the lot but not in one sitting.
One of your best, Simon.
Watch better channels maybe? Unless you're verifying the sources, you have no idea what kind of information you're consuming.
@@mariusvanc I watch more informative videos than I honestly need to
@godwarrior3403 was making Simon out to be a shining example. Just saying it's nice to have a channel to watch that makes it clear (even if it's the bare minimum thing) where they are getting their sorces from.

I fully believe in and support Ukraine’s campaign to reestablish its ‘91 borders… can you not recognize an ally or do you just presume to know what everyone is inherently thinking or subscribes to based off a general statement?
lol in what world does my comment evoke such a response?
With that said, and since I feel obliged to let you in on a little of where I stand:
Do I believe those regions are Ukrainian?
Yes.
Do I believe the invasion of Ukraine was an attack on Europe, and by extension, an attack on the western world?
Yes.
Give em f-16’s & long range capabilities & free Ukraine now.
The 'Yes Man' phenomenon is the most interesting to me.
When someone in power stays there too long....
Well, they don't need reality, right?
The fact this was two hours of such detail and more focused on his character building was fantastically interesting. Thank you. Maybe one of these could be done for other global political leaders.

I really hate how much AI "footage" and photos you've been putting into documentaries. 7:12 looks absolutely horrible, and it calls into question the authenticity of your entire program.
Agreed. It looks horrible and just cheapens the entire production. I highly doubt there's any lack of appropriate stock footage that could be used.
"The age of Kings has come to an end" spoken by a British guy who literally has a King right now.
It can be argued that Charles is literally a douche.
I learned a lot. Thanks Simon.
Every time I hear someone talk of Putin and the things he’s done, it all sounds so similar to things I’ve heard about our own country. Funny.

Their ‘last merry christmas’ now that he is in power. Thats also pretty high up there.

He is a very patriotic leader. Not a saint but you will be hard pressed to find any politician anywhere in this world

Where s the episode on the american warlords?
Right
The closest we got was Mac Arthur, Edgar Hoover and Ulysses Grant.
4 years a term, 8 years max. We have corruption issues, not warlords. Almost like our country was founded to avoid such things.
Iraq had old WMDs from 1980's but they weren't the modern ones we expected. This isn't just a technicality: Some people glorify Sadaam as a victim of the US. In reality, sadaam used chemicals weapons on his own people, the Iranians, and kurds in the 1980's.
One lady who lost a son to his cruelty said that "even if I personally cut him up, it wouldn't have been enough to satisfy me." People should really look up the history of others before immediately assuming things.
