@@stevengill1736 A giant coincidence I'm sure. But some countries in that area were looking to construct a natural gas pipeline that needed to pass through syria in order to get to europe. This would allow an undercut of russias gas prices. Al Assad refused to let it pass through, knowing the damage it would do to one of his closest allies. Then the Arab spring happened and America began strategic bombing campaigns in the area.
The Syria situation is pretty important.

It would be a short episode. As drones become cheaper regular people fly them more frequently. There is no registration required so they can't be identified.
Conspiracy forums jump on this to claim there is some huge event going on when really it's just as noteworthy as the rise of smart phones in the late 2000s. Omg they are suddenly everywhere it must be aliens!

It’ll be interesting to see if the Syrian uprising is going to end up like the Iranian revolution in the end. It’s just not “Our Guy” who got toppled like the West had with the Shah. And what the Western response to another Arab Revolution will be in the long run when/if they start doing stuff they don’t like.

Democracy is not something unique to the West. Imposing Democracy usually doesn't work, even false narratives (like happened in Germany post WW1 where the anti democratic right would decry the Weimar Democracy as imposed by the Entente) can usually completely delegitimize a State.
I'm also not sure which other form of government you think should come. A dictatorship? An Oligarchy?
I hope the Syrian people can find a Government that can guarantee their safety, their rights and their future but it will have to be them, no other country can do anything without ruining what little progress has been made.

The two most significant state actors for the reconstruction and regime stability for the dawn of a new Syria will be Turkey and Israel (not the USA, as Trump will have no interest). Turkey will be guided by their mistrust of the Kurds (whom the world owes a massive debt towards in terms of weakening Daesh/ISL, and fighting Assad for all these years), and this could cause an explosion of factional infighting. Israel will not want a strong centralized Syria that can challenge their illegal occupation of the Golan Heights, nor interfere with their security goals of destroying all remaining military infrastructure from the Assad regime. Israel will also not want a Syria that is too weak to govern itself and will want to avoid a situation where there's a perpetual impasse between groups and a vacuum that can be exploited by Iranian proxies, like what exists in Lebanon.
All of this makes me worried that the problems may not be over for Syria, and while they may be able to avoid Libya's collapse, they may experience some form of the sectarianism that has plagued Iraq.

When we talked about them giving up their weapons I am reminded what happened during the American Revolution when we fought for our independence from britain. That was the first thing that they wanted and that's the first thing we wouldn't give up. Responsible people keep their weapons locked up go through the training and need it for self-defense especially with what's going on in this country now. I'm talking about reputable people not teenagers stealing guns or parents not watching them however I'm surprised the pope hasn't chimed in on any of this and then a meeting with His Highness who is such a fraud he is tied into the one world religion the One World Government and I dislike this man intensely and the Catholic church is also a cult because they prayed all of these Idols to marry and I know because I used to work for a reformer years ago before I figured out what was really going on. Anyway once you give up your guns you have no power to protect yourself so that's a way of merging all of these other factions cuz if you take away their guns you can do whatever you want and it doesn't matter if you're just a tiny person in an apartment or whatever they will kill you and all of these syrians coming back what are they coming back to they're coming back to nothing their homes are no longer there there's no humanitarian Aid what is wrong with these people they are being deceived this current Syrian government if it meant anything to anybody which it doesn't they would tell them to just wait but turkey wants to get rid of everybody that's in their country that's why they're helping if Turkey keeps going the way it is we are going to be into World War III sooner because turkey is a member of NATO just remember that why not address that topic.
