OMG!! I used to play this album for my kids at bedtime . They are now in their 30's. I wonder if they learned from it. They are successful young men.. my 2 oldest. Wow. A lovely live recording of "Lonely Looking Sky", set to those beautiful images shot by Jack Couffer and Jim Freeman (and directed by Hall Bartlett) over 40 years ago. Thank you so much for uploading this; I have never seen this before. I researched the making of the film version of "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" for 3 years, for a documentary that I ultimately couldn't make for legal reasons. I wasn't able to talk to Neil Diamond, but I was able to talk to composer Lee Holdridge, who told me that Diamond opposed him in court when he asked to share credit over the music. Fortunately, the judge ruled in favor of Holdridge, who got to share credit with Diamond... Holdridge's contribution to this music should not be diminished.

While Diamond did help to make this beautiful movie possible, he did not behave very well during its release, when he sued director Hall Bartlett and Lee Holdridge for insisting that Diamond share credit for the music with Holdridge. Diamond unfortunately wanted all the credit for himself, but fortunately, Holdridge won the lawsuit. Holdridge told me that Diamond doesn't like to talk about the movie because he's probably embarrassed by his own behavior during this period.
