They aren't that crazy of an investment, and it's nice to know you are using good quality cables that actually list the components, so you know what you're getting.

Just so long as no one told them they weren’t the $20k cables they were using previously lol. Cables definitely matter, that’s what makes these so special imo. These exact ones you’re reviewing. Sorry to be facetious - I really like your videos - I love it that with someone sneaking in to your office swapping out the cables, you would not be able to hear a difference. Sounds like you are on to something :)
I'm not exactly sure how you intend this comment to be received. From my point of view, some differences in audio are subtle enough that you wouldn't pick them blind, but in direct comparisons it's clear. It doesn't make the differences irrelevant, but it does put them into perspective.
@kkklllaaa1234 ruile no 1: Everything has an influence on everything. Like in life. That's a fact. Believe it or not. Try it or don't, everything else is pointless talk that won't get you anywhere Rule no 2: Never tell others what they can or cannot do. This makes you absolutely ridiculous.
Lachlan made an important point when he said, without the benefit of direct comparison, he said he may not be able to tell the difference between the 2 cables. I went through the Phillips Golden Ear Challenge (unfortunately no longer available), which was originally intended to test and train their audio engineers. It put the listener through a series of tests comparing music selections that were pure vs. doctored in some way, such as frequency differences, digital artifacts, loudness, THD, etc. They had levels from introductory, to Bronze, Silver and finally Gold. Although I was happy to have made it through the Gold section, I would end up spending a minute or more sometimes comparing 2 pieces of music trying to decide which was doctored and how. I concluded that, if I heard either one out in the wild without being able to compare, I sincerely doubt whether I could tell which was which. So, if cable differences exist, but you're not heavily focused on critical listening, is it worth spending big bucks for gains you may not even notice? And with that in mind, I'm happy to see comparisons of sanely priced cables, as I have been looking at WBC, along with Blue Jeans and Snake Oil (company name).
That's exactly my take on it too. In my living room where we are generally not paying attention to the music, I spend no money on the cables. In my office where I do all my critical listening for reviews, that's where I invest the time and money to choose the right ones. Save money where it doesn't matter so you can spend it where it does. 🙂
I have the Snake Oil Taipan XLR cables in my setup, and have been quite happy with them. They're very high quality, built to order. It's the better of their 2 cables. But I've never really compared them to alternatives. I'm familiar with Blue Jeans, but these WBC XLRs are cheap enough I might try some and compare with the Snake Oil. IDK if there'd be any improvement, or just subtle difference... Comparing the Snake Oil cables with the WBC, one uses German Sommer cable, the other Mogami from Japan. Is one better than the other? Same connectors on both. So minimal differences otherwise. The Taipan Sommer based cable is 20AWG, the Mogami 2549 is 22AWG. Both are OFC copper microphone cables. The more I compare them the more I wonder if it's worth trying some in my instance? If I were shopping for cables I'd definitely check WBC out! 😀
@@jonathansabini4039 I like the choices with Snake Oil, WBC and Blue Jeans. All are reasonably priced so you don't feel as though you're entering the Voodoo Audio space!
Horses for courses. Even though I'm an avid 2 channel stereo music lover, I also love the occasional movie, too, and due to lack of space, I have to optimise my setup for multi-channel listening also. However, when it came listening to my newly discovered multi-channel setup, I immediately became aware of how the room sounded different. Didn't know what it was at first, but coming from an audio black background, there was no way I was prepared to put up with it! Even after auditioning 3 separate AVR's, the same electrical ambient sound of the room was still present! That told me the extremely faint background signal noise I had been experiencing (poor description) had nothing to do with the actual units. Therefore, my attention changed to the cables. And even then It was only on the third occasion after living with two previous sets of cables that I ended up finally purchasing shielded cables and that is when the noise floor within my small room finally came down to satisfactory levels. Cables often act as antennas for attracting RF, and the longer the cable, the better the antenna! Probably explains why when I used to disconnect my heights and surrounds within 10 minutes, the faint background signal noise (RF/EMI) within my small room used to almost practically disappear/dissipate The more cables I shield, the quieter my room becomes, and the better the shielding, the more the cables are likely to disappear. In fact, the last group of cables I changed were from my HDMI's and lo and behold the room became slightly quieter yet again. If one has the same sensitivities and is looking to address this matter, but is also hoping to notice (hear) the incremental differences, I would suggest starting with analogue cables before moving on to digital and power cables (no good getting rid of the quietest when one hasn't addressed the noisiest) Trying to achieve a totally silent room sadly has turned into obsession for me. However, the results speak for themselves. There are times when sitting in the MLP and pressing pause (or mute), I'm unable to differentiate whether the systems on or whether the systems actually switched off. Of course, audiophile equipment helps, but in reality, for one to experience an exceptionally quiet room with a multi-channel setup, shielded cables IMO are a must. When friends or guests came over, I used to show them how loud the system goes. Nowadays, I prefer to press pause and show them how quiet it goes. None of them gets it, of course 😊
Noise is a very real challenge but it is highly variable. If you always buy the shielded balanced cables you should generally be fine. If not, it's something you need to be aware of and can often fix for free if you're willing to track down the source or the part affected - making sure cables cross and run properly, power and other emf sources are placed consciously, etc
I agree. There are many variables that go into the sound of a system and decently shielded cables are a way to control one of them and this remove it from consideration. Thanks for sharing your experiences!

I recently ordered a pair of these as I didn't have the appropriate length in their Mogami variants. I really liked the flexibility of the new set. Sound quality was about the same to my ears, at a better price, so you can't go wrong with the Pro in the budget realm. I've ordered probably 12 different pairs or interconnects in XLR and RCA, a digital coax cable, and a pair of their speaker wires (Mogami) and never had an issue. I don't have the ears to appreciate the fine differences in cables, but I like the quality that you get with this company.

Impedance Matching - (Why I only buy cables with a know impedance) 110-ohm characteristic impedance minimizes signal reflections and ensures maximum power transfer in digital applications. In analog, this translates to cleaner transmission with less distortion over distance. AES/EBU or the Audio Engineering Society/European Broadcasting Union set this standard in 1985.
Hi Lachlan, interesting review. From my perspective, I believe you have independently confirmed the value of bi-wiring. Namely, using thick cabling for the bass woofers, and much thinner cabling for the mid and treble drivers. It's well-known that using very thick cables causes the treble to be rounded off, while emphasizing thr bass frequencies at the same time. Dedicating the thicker wire for the bass drivers and thin wire for the treble drivers gives the best of both worlds. Again, I believe your results support this concept. Personally, I use very thick wire (4x14 gauge) per bass terminal, and one 16 gauge wire per treble terminal. My system soundstages incredibly well with crisp highs, full bodied mids, and excellent bass.
One test that I would very much like to see someday is a double-blind A/B test where half of the data points are obtained by simply severing and reestablishing the connection with the same cables, and the other half involve an actual switch. My pet theory is that people really do hear a difference after a cable change, but this is because the act of severing and reestablishing the connection is changing the electrical properties of the circuit somehow.
Lachlans microphone sounds likes its worth $20,000. I use WBC in my mid-range 2-channnel system, stick with their canare and mogami runs. When I first discovered them on Amazon, I thought it was a joke, the brand name and all that. Once I read their background I understand.
@@PassionforSoundOthers don't have sense of humor 😂. I do believe in cables. I have quality ones but not expensive ones because I can't afford and really from some point they don't really make much difference from what you good folks say.
I used to be one of those people-scoffing at the idea that cables could make a difference. "Snake oil!" I cried. That is, until one day, in a fit of experimentation, I yanked the RCA cables out of my system. And guess what? The sound didn’t just get worse-it completely vanished. Gone. Poof. Silence. The audacity! I was shocked. Naturally, as the free-thinking, inquisitive type, I decided to dig deeper. So, I put the RCA cables back in and, emboldened by my newfound curiosity, pulled the Toslink cable connecting my CD player to the DAC. What happened next was nothing short of horrifying: the music didn’t just lose detail-it disappeared entirely! The soundstage was so barren, so devoid of life, it was almost as if… there was no sound at all! Incredible. Since that fateful day, I’ve become a firm believer in the power of cables. They don’t just make a difference-they make all the difference.
You should check out the vovox sonarus as well. They outpreformed Mogami as I understand is similar to wbc. If you like the sonarus you should also continue and check out the bigger brother excelsus.
Cables make a difference in that it would be possible to make one that doesn't work. Or that has filler components that affect the sound. But any sensible cable is similar to any other sensible cable

The message should say we will consult our Technical Team after the weekend and get back to you with a solution. In summary to expand the shrunken banana plug (as the former equipment had tighter inputs the banana plug shrunk to fit) to fit the new equipment (to re-expand the plug to match the seemingly regular sized inputs in the new equipment), please drive one banana plug into the other (or a hollow tube roughly the width of a banana plug). @@HerbertShooler If audiophiles are willing to spend $1,000 on cables and passionately defend their beliefs, then those cables will inevitably be produced. As long as there are enthusiasts who subscribe to the mystique of high-end cables, manufacturers will continue to cater to that market with premium-priced offerings.
If I can hear a clear difference then I am happy. If you can't then congratulations and I hope it isn't because your system isn't at all revealing. But mostly I am in awe of someone who can here through a scientific paper/video that things make no difference...
Guaranteed to be as good or better then any other cable is a slam dunk as they'll all sound the same or you'll convince yourself the most expensive is the best. Mind-blowing, when even cheaper cables will also sound the same. Its this sort of nonsense that gives ;audiophiles' such a bad rap.
The determined way you state that cables make no difference certainly sounds like an issue of belief. If you hear no difference, then there would be presumably be 3 possibilities: 1) there is no difference. 2) your system is not revealing enough to show the difference. 3) Your ears are not good enough to hear the difference.

Nice review!
I own both xlr and rca world best cables and love them

just picked a 1 ft pair to connect my new smsl raw-mda 1 to the apos gremlin when it arrives!
Nice! What an awesome budget setup!!
That intro was cool 😎
I'm glad you liked it. Someone else hated it 😂
@@PassionforSoundOthers don't have sense of humor 😂.
I do believe in cables. I have quality ones but not expensive ones because I can't afford and really from some point they don't really make much difference from what you good folks say.
Would love to hear your thoughts on Ghost XLR cables ✌️
I haven't heard of those before. I'll have to check them out
One thing is for sure - you need cables in most systems to play music. If you take them away, happy time stops working 😂
Not going to lie ....
Less is more is less. (more or less).
I have to applaud your absolutely purist approach. 👍
@@markconway2677 if less is more, imagine how much more more would be.
have you compared to the Aussie cables like Robertsons audio cables, Audio Princpe, etc
I haven't, but I'd be keen to
@@PassionforSound Pretty damn good. Note i only have a few Audip Principe cables now.
Major call going on here. But since Lachlan is a hi-fi warrior, this is very interesting.
I'm pretty sure anyone who tries them will be impressed.
You should check out the vovox sonarus as well. They outpreformed Mogami as I understand is similar to wbc. If you like the sonarus you should also continue and check out the bigger brother excelsus.
Thanks for the tip!
What Hi-Fi set up would only use a meter of cable per speaker?
Monoblock setups
That's just a pricing reference. It's not the only available length.
Ahh ok, I own the wbc 7 gauge 10ft cables
Pro Quad seems to be the cheapest XLR cables this brand provides on Amazon. What were the other ones you said you tried previously?
They have (or had) a basic grade made with Canare or Mogami wires and those were just ok, but not great.
Cables make a difference in that it would be possible to make one that doesn't work. Or that has filler components that affect the sound. But any sensible cable is similar to any other sensible cable
3 Ft. speaker cables is hardly long enough. How much are the 6 Ft. version?
They're equivalently priced, but I don't have the exact numbers on hand. Just click the links to your local Amazon and you can see your options. 🙂
Diy xlr fine silver mine. Best investment and sell the silver after
😅
They don’t get back to you if you email them with issues. Edit: I was wrong and I misspoke. They did get back to me. It was in my junk mail.
That's not good to hear. Doesn't Amazon step in to assist?
@ I reached out directly to the email on their website. I will give Amazon a try. I do like the cables but the banana plugs for their speaker went from being too tight to very sloppy loose in a short time.
@@PaulFauteux-i7t Hi Paul, we are sad to see our email over the weekend has not reached to you. Can you please check your spam folder? The message should say we will consult our Technical Team after the weekend and get back to you with a solution. And as promised we have now shared a second email with you, including photos on how to achieve the desired result. This tube or the other banana plug will slid into the space between the banana plugs outer circular sheet and the central reinforcing pin, thus expanding the banana plug :)
@@worldsbestcableswbc7823 you did reply and it was in my junk box. I had also reached out on your FB page with no response. I did not receive the 2nd email with pictures. That being said I will delete my comment as I may have overreacted.
Anyone know where they to be found in the Eu?
Have you tried a local Amazon site?
I believe they only sell through Amazon.
we have to laugh the "debate" continues despite science conclusively saying zilch,if people want to waste cash on fancy cables well let them, its their right to be stupid.
I have tried many RCA cables and I can say that just because it is more expensive does not mean it is better.
I agree. Often they are better, in my experience, but the margins can be tiny and the need for a highly resolving system could completely negate them.
"But but but you need 46,000 hours for the cables to start opening up, trust me bro"
If you hear no difference, then there would be presumably be 3 possibilities:
1) there is no difference.
2) your system is not revealing enough to show the difference.
3) Your ears are not good enough to hear the difference.
How would these compare to the supra i-xlr cables? Think these replaced them as the best budget option?
I think the fact that the WBCs get SO close to the Supra Sword makes them a comfortable winner for the best budget XLR cables I've tried.
AGONY,AGONY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No gloves while adding tubes . OH the INSANITY.
Sorry man I a wee drunk .
You have a very valid point.
😂
One only needs to listen to bad headphone cables to "BELIEVE IN CABLES".
So true!
About less than 5 per cent of people have gear 0:23 with xlr outs and ins
How do you arrive at that conclusion when almost every DAC these days has XLR out and most headphone amp/preamps too?
I use WBC and Mogami. And I lose nothing in transition.
Why do you use a tube amp with the Chord combo ? Need to round things up ? Chinese copies of high-end cables are the best bargain for me. I bought a false valhalla 2 pair of speaker cable and it's amazing what a motivated chinese company can achieve ! Nevertheless those cables shouldn't claim to be the best. The reference is so different from system to system that it's impossible to claim that !
I use lots of different amps including solid state and tubes. It all depends on what I'm testing or what I feel like swapping in for a while.
I think you meant 3m pair speaker cable not 3ft pair. 3ft is only 1m.
Nope. I meant 3ft. It's the shortest length they're available in and I try to use the price per 1m length where possible with cables to create a standard reference point.
@PassionforSound you'd need monoblocks or use desktop speakers for that length. Is that how you used them?
No. It's just a price reference.
@@PassionforSound Did you use a 3ft pair or not, what don't you get? Man you have an attitude problem. Not sure why, how's your spiritual life? Have you accepted Jesus as our Savior?
@PassionforSound Did you use a 3ft pair and not 3m pair? Which is it?
consumer audio (cable) brands 😂😂😂 above $500 for a cable you are being conned 😮 and that is already way too high 😅
i have monoprice cables and wbc cables. the monoprice xlr's are like half the price and no difference in audio quality. wbc are not what I would call cheap. i guess they are versus stuff like moon audio.
Which version WBCs do you have? The standard ones (not the Pro Quads that I've reviewed here) aren't any better than the standard HiFi store cables I've bought elsewhere, but these Pro Quads are excellent.
That WBC Pro is no different then a Mogami W2534. Almost identical in makeup
I haven't compared them with the Mogami so I can't comment
@PassionforSound I am just a DIY guy who builds specialty cables for folks. It would be awesome to be able to send you a set of my RCA and XLR cables that use a 20 AWG OFC in a cotton Insulation with AECO connectors. Me And others have found them to be quite revealing but I don't get to compare them to others.
@kevindillinger3699 I'd personally be very interested in that, but wouldn't be able to make a video about them due to the fullness of the schedule.
@@PassionforSound That would be awesome. Only bad thing is it would cost me more then I have in the cable to send to Australia since I am in the middle of the US. Love your videos.
Yes, shipping is pricey these days!
To the cable naysayers: Cables make a difference on guitars sooo......
*includes paid promotion* lool
Every video where the product is gifted to a reviewer should be marked as paid advertising (as it is here). I've got plenty of examples of similar situations where I don't recommend the product.
Wow, you are finally realizing that $500 cables are a complete waste of money and will make a negligible difference on the best systems. Time to do another video comparing your $500 USB cables to Amazon Basics and I promise you will get the same results.
No.
Yes
As I said in this video, I've used the lower grade WBC cables (speaker and RCA), but found on both occasions that they noticeably held back the performance of the system.
I'd hope that this video proves that it's not about price, but about what I actually hear from the cables, but we'll see...
@mattman7495 forget about performance.. just the added noise floor alone, one experiences from false economy cables, warrants an upgrade
i just hate the opening....do you believe in cables...what is there to believe? it's physics. do you believe in gravity? duh
Some people believe they make a difference and some don't...
Yeah, its the same as when you see people asking "Do you believe in evolution?". Its not a belief proposition, therefore the question can only reasonably be "Do you accept the science?" or "Are you willing to try something new?"
@shreddherring lol maybe you should do a review on cables.
@@shannonwilliams6623 Heh, I'd consider doing videos on that topic, but I think that no amount of times me saying "your mileage Will vary, and these are my Subjective impressions" I'd get accusations and death threats over it
