You are very correct! The Chickasaw Indians of the United States, have a world wide flood story , which describes how water covered the earth and the only creatures that made it out alive were one family and a pair of each kind of animal. They don't describe an Ark, but overall the story is much like the story of Noah and other world flood stories.

What's also fascinating are the correlations between different Creation myths, and their similarities with the beginning of Genesis. For example the Blackfeet tribe have the story, "Old Man, Napi, made the animals and then molded clay into a human shape and said, 'You must be People.'" The Cheyenne Tribe have: "Maheo, the All Spirit, created a salty lake. From a ball of mud he made land which rested on the back of a turtle. And the Earth was known as Grandmother, Earth Woman. Later, by breathing on one of his own ribs, Maheo created First Man and then First Woman. Maheo is still with us as all good and all life." The excerpts are from plaques at the Museum of the Rockies, a Natural History Museum in Montana, U.S. That is just two examples right there from Native American tribes. Think of the implications here. It's impossible for the Blackfeet or Cheyenne peoples to derive any influence from the book of Genesis, yet the similarities are uncanny. The logical inference here is that Noah's descendants retained these stories after the Tower of Babel thousands of years ago, and oral tradition slowly modified and embellished them into the myths we know of today. Of course this is only applicable up to the events of the Tower of Babel.
Exactly. The narrator did himself a disservice bringing up the epic of Gilgamesh, which predates Judaism by around 800 years, and by all accounts would be the closest to the flood in time frame and oldest verified story of the flood. Meaning that if anything, the story of Noah is taken from the epic of Gilgamesh, not the other way around. Which would suggest that the epic of Gilgamesh is the closet we have to the real story of the flood.
@@Azreal357 The real story is that there were wide spread floods when the latest ice age thawed. That was about 5,000 years before bible literalists claim the universe was created.

Hundreds of legends..... Legends..... Who from these civilizations survived to write about the floods since everyone was dead except for Noah and family... How did it get passed down? Why are all these civilizations near a body of water?
I'm not saying I am accepting the Noah story, but I do believe a catastrophic flood did occur. I don't however believe it wiped out all but a handful of people. The only reason I say this is that it is too much of a coincidence that ever single continent (other than Antarctica) has a flood myth, and many of those tend to be VERY similar. Which leads me to believe that a large scale flood or at least a planetary storm that brought large deluge of rain, had happened. Sounds unlikely but we do have evidence that things like this can happen, such as the massive eye on Jupiter is long believed to be a planet traversing superstorm, so something similar could be conceivable. We can also look at "Super Typhoon Tip" as evidence that a massive storm could be possible. Super Typhoon Tip, had a diameter of 1,300 miles in a time in which the climate is less volatile than it has been in the past. Which means an even greater storm, or multiple massive storms could have hit the earth at one point during human history which could account for the flood myth all over the world.
When the floodwaters reached 14 cubits above the highest mountains into the death zone the oxygen ran out and the temperature plummeted well below zero. How did the animals, plants, insects and humans survive inside the Ark? Answer: They didn't.
There are numerous legends about a hero stealing fire from the gods and giving it to mankind. But it's not mentioned in the Bible, so Christians will say that isn't true while Noah's Ark is true. In other words, Christians will be inconsistent like always.
Technically one could make the claim that those stories of hero's/gods giving fire to man is an allegory for them giving knowledge to mankind. So if that is the case, you could make the claim that the "devil" in the guise of the serpent, who convinced Eve to eat the apple was an example of a god-like being giving knowledge to mankind. Meaning, they shared similar stories, albeit in the Christian faith, the provider of knowledge is an antagonist to mankind as opposed to the other stories that paint the provider of knowledge as the protagonist. That's a reality of Christianity that people don't like to face. The fact that in all other cultures, it was seen as an act of kindness or a good thing to provide knowledge to mankind, while Christianity seems to paint the acquisition of knowledge as an act of great evil. Almost as if the religion itself is making the statement that it is better to be ignorant, blind, and to only do as you are told..... weird.
