Firion Salamand The switch came out in 2017. Skyrim came out in 2011. This isn't exactly a fair comparison because the even the wii u wasn't out in 2011 and the wii couldn't run it.

Jason Doom will run fine since it looks noticeably worse on the switch. Still excited for it tho. As much hate as Bethesda gets right now, Im buying all their stuff on Switch to support a 3rd party company that actually supports the Switch. (Plus I love Skyrim and Doom. And Wolfenstein 2 looks amazing)
The Switch supports Vulkan, which is probably the reason why Bethesda is so eager to port to it. It's apparently a breeze to recompile for, and the low overhead should help with overall performance. Nintendo's finally unfucked themselves.
As long as those abominable amiibos aren't present in any way, shape or form, I'll be happy to see Bethesda and Rockstar (or any other developer) games running on the Switch.

The reason why I said that is because the Wii U never had that many good concepts for games compared to some of what the Switch is getting now
the concepts werent the problem, it was the 3rd party support was NON existent because the technology was too difficult to port games with

For example, why didn't we get something as promising as a collection of classic Mario Party mini-games when we got Mario Party 10, which ended up being disliked by fans? Where was all the devotion for Metroid last year on its' 30th anniversary?
The problem isn't the Wii U it is Nintendo the switch is lacking third party support as well most Nintendo games are being released on 3ds over the switch it was the same thing with the Wii U as well.

I kinda teared up when I saw project Octopath Traveller. It's nostalgic, yet different. The combination of 2D sprite and 3D environment reminded me so much of the Trails in The Sky games, yet the camera angle and atmosphere is so unique and brimming with charm. I REALLY want this thing to be good. Make JRPG great again!

Anthony Agu Nintendo is the king of exclusives, but if the switch recieves support from 3rd parties it will be alive for many more years unlike wiiU that had excellent exlusives many people never played... plus I think we're covered til next year with Xenoblade and SM odyssey.
How do we know that? Metroid and Pokemon could be delayed, till the point Nintendo drops the Switch and just make another console. They did it with Wii U. Also, Nintendo hasn't mentioned any other big titles.
Daniel López I totally agree with you. It's not just 1st party games that move console sales alone as we saw with the Wii U that was a bust. It's just personally for myself I probably won't be playing too many third party games on my switch (once I get it) unless they can get a naruto game on it or something along the lines of that.

I honestly have zero clue how anyone is disappointed. My bar was pretty low for this direct and there was some pretty cool things announce for this direct imo(like Doom. That caught me off guard). All the games looked solid too. Hyped for a lot of these games. I mean nothing was earth shattering but I'm not going to complain. I wasn't expecting things like that
+Juckle I mean because last years e3 was just one game pretty much, the nindies presentation wasn't anything special, this years e3 was all recap information and nothing really new, and this direct was disappointing. People are setting standards high because they want things that Nintendo isn't delivering, Nintendo has been disappointing us for a while except Zelda and splatoon 2 in a way. All I wanted was one Leaf or one smash ball to at least know I had something to look forward to in 2018 not just them spending 15 minutes on xenoblade.
Juckle Literally my only issues were the Xenoblade 2 and Project Octopath segments being dragged on WAY too long.
Juckle People set unrealistic expectations with every Nintendo Direct. "ANIMAL CROSSING, F-ZERO, AND SMASH ALL IN ONE DIRECT BABYYY" Then, when they don't get their fantasies, they say "meh 5/10". We all want these games, but they always complain when they don't get what they want. The Switch is getting great support so far, and I have hope that they'll make some good first party titles as well, but it never seems to be enough for some people.
PugTheTitan Dude, the games they've been revealing are fantastic. Give them games to give people content through 2020 (or way longer depending on how long the Switch stays in action).

Say what you want about this direct, I'm just happy Nintendo has a console people are taking seriously. If the titles keep coming at this rate they might lead the console market. This is just so damn cool. When they start getting triple A releases at the same time as Sony/Microsoft who would wanna buy it on anything but Switch? Give Nintendo all the sass you want but man they know how to make a comeback.
At this point its neck and neck for Nintendo and Sony imo. If Nintendo can keep this type of hype going and have the games to support it, they win this gen.

People are so stupid setting their expectations so high and hoping for unrealistic things. I just set really low expectations and then I don't get disappointed. I was actually pleasantly surprised to see the new odyssey footage.

Doom was the most surprising, and Nintendo actually sold me on buying another 3DS game after Lady Layton. That Mario Party 100 doesn't look like a bad game! I thought the direct was great.

Oh, and DOOM being released is pretty awesome too. A lot of us were wondering if the Switch could even handle it.

RedGeoBlaze not so sure about that. If we equate it to the PC versions(of which I own both) doom is insanely well optimized to the point where it's hard not to get 60fps. Fallout 4 stutters and definitely isn't as well optimized
Gameplay and Talk The switch can handle any game, it only needs good optimization
DOOM is not resource intensive at all (by modern standards)
Really the only thing that hinders performance are the graphics, and those can easily be downgraded until it runs on the Switch
the CPU is what limits the framerate of fallout 4 and that makes sense, AI is pretty good most of the time, Doom is an arcade style shooter with little to no physics so with the right graphical downgrades it would make sense to run on a tablet style console. I highly doubt games with good AI will ever make it across to the switch unless they are made by Nintendo themselves.
