I think it's safe to say for everyone that, That smash reveal was one of the BEST REVEAL I have ever seen. Damn, the chills.
It really was awesome. :) It made me start clapping my hands. My two year old looked at me, smiled, and then started clapping too :)

Fans expected Pokemon for the switch.
Jackson Capoldo It will probably be the Wii U and 3DS versions mixed together with all the content from those versions plus new stuff like the Inklings, BotW Link, and maybe new game modes (hopefully a new subspace emissary). It's similar to what they are doing with Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition and I would honestly be fine with it.

Why did you even just comment the date the game releases? It’s so unnecessary, if someone wants to know they’ll look to the actual trailer for information.
Actually... no they wouldn't.
The day before and on the day of the direct, there were _tons_ of posts, saying *not* to expect a Smash Bros announcement. Some were creating mock-ups of 'leaks' saying "Anyone can make a fake leak." Essentially, many people were trying not to hype the direct up for Smash. I'm guessing it's cause reveals like Smash is usually reserved for an E3 spotlight, rather than an ordinary direct in the middle of Spring. They were also saying not to hate on the direct because of a lack of Smash Bros.
This is why the direct got such a reaction the way it did. People were only expecting minor-to-regular announcements and updates. No one was expecting this much content on one direct. And to end it off with Smash Bros, it got a rousing applause.

also undertale being on the switch, in my opinion, is a good thing because not only will more people be able to try it out but it paves the way for more game maker games to be on the switch.

There's no chance this is a port. We would have seen gameplay. It also would have been titled "Smash Bros. For Nintendo Switch" rather than just "Smash Bros." Also, that was Botw Link. It could just be an alternative skin, but they always use the main skin in these types of trailers.

Looking back on this 2 years later, this is my personal favorite Nintendo Direct, no questions asked. There were several cool 3DS games to cap off its lifespan, some information about other upcoming Switch titles (at the time), Undertale's announcement on the platform in the funniest way possible, a bunch of other exciting 3rd party titles, Arms and Splatoon 2 getting some awesome updates, Splatoon 2 getting the absolutely incredible Octo Expansion DLC and all of that would've made this my favorite direct on its own. Then... Smash happened. And the rest they say, is history.
As we reach December 7th, look how far we've come. From March 8th, the day of the first Announcement of the game, to December 7th of the release date.

People need to understand that having Undertale on the Switch means that Gamemaker Studio is now on Switch. As a matter of fact, they just signed a deal with Nintendo. That means possible ports of games like Spelunky, Downwell, Hotline Miami, and Hyperlight Drifter.

Even after 4 years, theres still a detail I never noticed before. At the smash reveal, when it's zooming in on link and Mario you can hear the tune of lifelight in the background 33:52, even though I'd still be months till it would be revealed
