TCAS Lego Pinsetter - New gripping plate!

- I had problems with pins getting stuck in the setting table and did some investigation. It appeared to be because of the gripper plate which had too tight tolerances and didn't allow the pins to go through unless they were completely straight. A new gripper plate and gripping mechanism solved the problem and made the pinsetter faster!

The pinsetter table looks so much better than before with the new gripping plate, EPIC work !!
Thanks man!
@@ThinkCleverAndSmart No probs man!
Wow this is so impressive! I'm sure this could be a real pinsetter design in the future! I can't wait if instructions will ever be available, everyone I know will just be mesmerized watching it work!
Thanks man! A lot of R&D usually turns into a good product :)
Amazing update!! Plus you kinda have a larger off spot range now! ;)
Thanks! Yes maybe a tiny bit larger range :)
@ThinkCleverAndSmart You inspired me to build my own lego bowling alleys
This looks like the quickest and most efficient pinsetter to date. Nice upgrades!
Thanks! It's almost a rival to the real life pinsetters at this point :P
This is truly amazing! So realistic compared to a genuine commercial pinsetter! Bravo!
Thanks a lot Jim!
Awesome TCAS, that’s the little stuff I haven’t thought about, sure mine can reset pins and all, but my whole machine is slow, and rather unreliable, one of these days you’re gonna have a Pinsetter that runs just as fast and reliably like a true machine! I look forward to every little update video you post!
Thanks man! I wouldn't say my machine is all that reliable either, but this part of it is basically perfect now. Every improvements gets it closer to a release :)
Nice improvements!
Thank you! :)
Looks great!
Thanks!
Good work man! Makes me want to start gettin back into it :)
No one is stopping you! :)
I think its cool that your borrowing design ideas from both AMF an Brunswick. both have been in centers for 60 years.
Yes, proven to work! But at this scale, I have to add some special designs, like this gripping plate for example :)
That’s really cool !
Thanks!
The sigh of anger followed by you bumping the camera at 4:23 just makes the last clip so much better :P
I do have a love hate relationship with my pinsetter that's for sure lol
@@ThinkCleverAndSmart Haha lol, I do too except sometimes it's a bit more than just a sigh...
Well I’ve been close to throwing it all to the floor a few times...
@@ThinkCleverAndSmart Oh damn, thats pretty bad haha... to be honest I think my pinsetter has done more damage to itself by jamming than I have done to it.
Usually I just throw my phone across the room or kick a wall :|
That’s really impressive, love your videos! Could you do an update on the pin distributor soon?
Thanks! Maybe
WOW!!! Amazing (as always) xd
Thanks haha :)
You should probably do a game of bowling with it, it look amazing. The angle makes the lane look actual a bowling alley
Thanks! I’ll do some more improvements, especially the pin elevator, until I do a full game (using the distributor or not)
@@ThinkCleverAndSmart ok awesome, can’t wait
nice video man
Thanks!
That was smart right there
Thanks!
That’s amazing! Also I’m back :)
That's awesome!
Thanks!
Cool!
nice!
Thanks!
Holy crud... Your pinsetter just keeps getting better every time. (and faster!) It's getting very close to completion! 😊
I am curious about the strike detection though; what happened to it? 😐
It still works! I haven't actually showed how it works now though. Will do next time I'm filming in that area! Basically there's a color sensor, and then there's a colored brick built tower on top of the setting table. Each color represents one height, and the color sensor then sees what color is in front of it depending on how low the setting table went. Strike is lowest, at green color. Pins left is yellow and off spot is red. :)
Very clever. 😉
How do you ever think of this type of thing? Wow
Just wondering, once you finish this and release instructions, what happens when you make more changes what happens if we want to add them would we have to buy instructions again?
The updates and changes would be released for free for anyone who already bought the instructions, and will be added to the original instructions for those who haven’t bought it. :)
Ok I'm actually planning on maybe doing 2 lanes and having them share a ball return that would look really cool!
woahhh
I know this thing doesn't see super high lineage... and it is legos.... but about what would you say is your frames per stop
It’s a good question! I would say with my current distributor it’s about 2 frames until I need to adjust something lol. But I have a redesign in mind that should increase that by maybe at least 10 times. At that point I can probably say it’s finished for now, and then after having instructions I could push updates with fixes to make it even more reliable. :)
I wonder what if you made Burswick gs-nxt
I’ve been thinking about it but the difference is quite small. Just the sweep and table mounts are the same as on an AMF pinspotter and that’s about it
What software do you use to create the cover on top for the Pinsetter?
I use Keynote, but if you don’t have a Mac, I’d recommend Figma
I also wanted to mention that what happened to the rest of your old pinsetters? Did you destroy them or reuse them and not show it in videos?!
Most of them was destroyed to be able to use the pieces. There are two other pinsetter projects not shown in videos yet though
Super simulations has a amf pinsetter but he is offline and not posting videos anymore rip
And ya still use double pin loading anymore?
@@lloydgreenninja7484 It’s built into the setting table
Oh right
Can you do a tutoriel or something like that?
I will release paid instructions when it's fully completed
@@ThinkCleverAndSmart I was just asking for a tutorial for the setting table not for the fully bowling
@@fija8033 Ah, alright, but that will be included in the full build. Maybe I can do some separate instructions as well, but I'd like to sell as many of the full ones as possible
02:09 ball stuck behind the pin
Yup. I’ll have to look into that. Maybe the cushion should be a bit lower :)
Did you get a new camera or something?
Yes I did! Still learning how to best use it for video (been using it for photo since summer) but I think it looks great as long as I use manual focus :)
As usual I can count on you to find the details lol. :)
@@ThinkCleverAndSmart haha yeah, the new camera with the manual focus looks good and has really professional vibe to it.
Thanks! There will hopefully be more of that, only about half of this video was shot on that :)
Very nice 😍💋 💝💖♥️❤️
