I think the spacers are the result of the last remnants of the earth system to survive the invasion of the qu. They learned from their failures of not evolving the first series of humans that couldn't adapt to the conditions of space and made the spacers as a result of that failure. They lost all their manned attempts at interstellar colonization because they werent adaped to space travel but instead were adapted to their future habitats. That is what they had intended at the time and their only successes came from artificially generated human embroys so I think the asteromorphs are our closest direct ancestors. Through sheer experience the solar system humans would have been the most advanced and therefore the best candidates for becoming the most advanced race in the entire series.
Really? At this point I would have thought it was because it has been overdone on UA-cam in recent years, it has a few dedicated lore channels of decent sub count actually.
It's also possible that the qu we see are merely the soldiers of their empire, another species that they manipulated and not the ones pulling the strings. Maybe a species that is an allie with the original qu race, or a subspecies that was engineered for war. Only having one appendage makes me suspect this because they clearly had the ability to make themselves have more, which would be beneficial towards operating technology unless its almost all neurokinetic in nature. In any case it would surprise me if there wasn't more than just one variant of the species, as they arent shy about genetic engineering. The image depicted just doesn't seem very godlike to me, it looks very drone like in my opinion.
