It's sad to me that Lovecraft himself died thinking his literary creations would never amount to much. If only he could see how far they've gone and how so many generations adore them!
And, most(if not all) creatures have their origin in a vermiform ancestor, meaning we all come from worms or something worm-like, and worms are just full body tentacles. This pushes Earth's familiarity with tentacles back to the Ediacaran, if not further.
I'm listening to this while my phone is in my pocket at school so I'm just hearing "A creature or pure evil and madness who stops at nothing to destroy the whole world" while I'm studying who John Quincy Adams was
M8 did you really plaigiarize the Lovecraft wiki? Went to look one of these guys up and it's all the exact same info, in the same order, that you're presenting here, just with some slight word choice tweaks (and that's being generous -- some entries, like Umr At-Tawil, copy the wiki verbatim). Shame on you.
...because people like to listen to it in the background while doing other things? Its not a movie, what is being shown on screen are mostly still pictures or drawings.
Cthulu is not a great old one, he's one of what Lovecraft called "the other gods" ... Pretty much everyone gets this wrong tbh, easy mistake 😊, but if you read the books you'll see I'm right, don't trust the wiki that used another wiki, that got it's info from some dude who smelled of fish called "Dragun" in the pub on a random Wednesday night ... Hope that helps
@@alanmacdonald1457 He forgot the comma. "False, Gods" Yes, I agree, _Great Old Ones_ is too light of a term for the many angled ones that have no description for the mortal minds of lowly humans to comprehend.
Out of 100 possible entries, you start with…Cthulhu. Basically the most boring, basic b*tch of ALL of Lovecraft and co.’s creations. NOT the star of the show, and certainly not “Liked” or “subbed.”
That's definitely not all there is to it. The angle of Cosmic horror is the realization that we are an infinitesimal speck that doesn't matter in a cruel, uncaring universe. The bleakness and hopelessness of our existence in the face of powers that we cannot understand or even begin to comprehend. Gods that are so massive and powerful that we mean nothing to, and could end our entire existence with no thought or effort whatsoever. So, not just aliens mixed with octopi.
Then you clearly don't understand it at all. The point of cosmic horror is that the pictures we have will never match how they would really look. The immense scale, terror, and pure chaos these gods represent is what is to be feared. If you don't understand it now, I doubt you ever will. Just let other people enjoy it, don't be a party pooper.
@@vr6prodigy ..they were saying Cthulhu might not be terrifying but yo momma is...if she is dead that would only make their point more pertinent...your comeback makes no sense.
My son actually turned me on to this author's works Thank you for explaining all of them in amazing detailed pictures of art

The high priest Cthulhu!🐙
I've always liked the various Deep Ones.
The earliest cephalopods date back to the Cambrian period. They predate trees and land plants. So, the Earth knew tentacles before it knew leaves.
And, most(if not all) creatures have their origin in a vermiform ancestor, meaning we all come from worms or something worm-like, and worms are just full body tentacles.
This pushes Earth's familiarity with tentacles back to the Ediacaran, if not further.
I know its the basic pick but Cthulu is my favourite
brilliant vidoe, very in depth, thanks for uploading!
The Stars Are Right! 🐙
Absolutely
Good one
Please please please never stop x
Any videos of the elder gods in the works? After this and the outer gods, I think it's their turn.
The non-Lovecraft or post-Lovecraft creations begin to look more and more like comic book characters than cosmic horror
My favorite is Cthylla, gotta love an Octo-Goddess girl boss😂❤
Please stop using the internet
Is there a list of all these beings somewhere?
I'm listening to this while my phone is in my pocket at school so I'm just hearing "A creature or pure evil and madness who stops at nothing to destroy the whole world" while I'm studying who John Quincy Adams was

Von dutch cuIt classic but I still pop!
I want James Wans Call of Cthulhu to end with Cthulhu rising from the ocean and causing the fall of humanity.
"Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn"
1:12 not a great old one hes a other god. The only time hes refured to a great old one is in a rpg game 40 years after his death.
I still think it's fun how it's considered a mythos when it's as fictional as warhammer. Think we should call Warhammer for, Warhammer mythos?
Bloodborne got me interested in the idea of lovecraftian gods
I'd love to see Cthulu vs Godzilla
The real question is can Godzilla resist the madness Cthulhu instills. If so, then Cthulhu is fucked
a better matchup for cthulhu would be godzilla earth or void ghidorah
Godzilla is like an ant to Cthulu
You forgot
*Du' Stysle' Dge*
Outer God and brother of Shub-Niggurath
I'm fanning hard on the great old ones
Shocked Hilary Clinton isn’t on here.

Now that's uncalled for! No need to insult Cthulhu by comparing him to the monster.
How does this video have over a million views and not even 20 comments? And all of then are, like, bot comments? Makes zero sense
It's 6k views.

The over million is number of subscribers not views it says there were 42000 views and 1300 likes
A lot of the content here is also plaigiarized right from the Lovecraft wiki.

Well warhammer is certainly influence by lovecraft lore
