This song was shopped around to many artists before Luke picked it up, even Eric Church. Others passed on it because it's a really difficult song to sing. Luke knocked it out of the park!
It’s deeper than you think, his brother tastes true freedom and it cost him his life. And the little brother looking back isn’t upset or disappointed, he’s proud his older brother left the way he knew he would want to go out. Shit hits hard.
I lost my older brother, Mike, in 1988 to a tragic motorcycle accident when was only 23. He was on his way back from the Palmdale race track in California with my best friend Jerry on a bike behind him headed to a birthday celebration for another older brother of mine named Steve who was following them in his truck when Mike's bike went down on that desert road. I wasn't there with them that day because I had to work and I only found out later that night. I dropped the phone and fell to my knees stunned when my mother told me that he was gone. This song touched a nerve and with me for sure. Decades have passed since then and in the following years my best friend Jerry and my other older brother's Steve and John have since passed on. Losing a brother or a very close lifelong friend are especially hard not just because of the loss of their lives but because all of those many shared memories that die with them. It is in the pain in knowing there is nobody left to answer a simple question that begins with a "Remember when....?" It is a question that only they could answer but sadly no longer can. That loss becomes ever more final as time inevitably marches on and even those good memories you once shared back then have slowly faded away like street lights in a rearview mirror.
Luke definitely has some songs that exhibit soul. "Even Though I'm Leaving" will stomp all over your soul. One Number Away is a great one. He has two unreleased songs right now that will straight put you in your feels, Remember Him That Way and Huntin' By Yourself Again.
Don't know anything about bourbon, but you guys should check out Jelly Roll and Craig Morgan singing Morgan's song 'Almost Home' live at the Grand Ole Opry.
One of my absolute favorites from Luke Combs and your reactions are gold 😂 also Luke Combs is an only child, this song was written by Randy Montana and Dave Turnbull
I think this was my first time hearing this one also. It's strange as I listened to it I got a gut feeling something was going to happen. I can't put my finger on it, but there was something about the drums that kept jumping out at me and that's really unusual for me. I don't know the first thing about drums. The closest thing to drums in the music I grew up listening to were the timpani! I kinda like music that hits me in the feels, so this might be playlist for me, I need to listen to it a few more times to decide.
Luke Combs is definitely growing on me - if you haven't heard it yet, you should check out his version of "Fast Car" by Tracy Chapman. It's another story that he sucks you in.
I listened to that song a couple of times and apparently always missed the sad ending of that song. Because this was the first time I’ve picked up on it. Very good reaction. I like Luke Combs a lot. You guys are behaving like siblings a bit lol 😂 I enjoyed the reaction. Thank you for it. Ryes are not for me but I’m glad you enjoyed that bourbon.
Good job guys! I've had the Old Soul, but not the single barrel. For me this one was more about his powerhouse vocal display than the story. He just belted out a Number 1 hit from the lyrics on his phone.
We do have some high temp "swamp air" down here, lol. If you've never experienced MS humidity, take a hot shower, don't dry off, immediately start putting your clothes on. Welcome to MS summers, lol.
Since yall enjoyed the other Cody Johnson song you guys did. You should really do “Dirt Cheap” by Cody. It’s probably one of if not the best song he’s ever made. P.S. i absolutely love watching yall reacting to songs. It’s such an enjoyable watch.
Love y'all's content and it might take some lookin around but I would love to see y'all react to Garth Brooks "the night I called the old man out" you won't regret the song or story
Hey Steve (or BCR), I'm ordering a bribe from Total Wine in Avon. I was looking for an email address to send an email with my song request, and I can't find one. If I put my email address here in the comments can you send me an email address for them?
I think it was my first time hearing it. I haven't really listened to the radio in 3-4 years, and even then it wasn't a regular occurrence. I listened to the local country station back during the summers of 2014 and 2015 while working a summer job in college. I was a goofer for a roofing company and was driving 8-10 hours most days and there are still a few songs I avoid listening to!
@MrNiccholas I listen to the highway on Siriusxm daily and I watch the vevo country station on TV a lot, this song and his version of fast car play way to much, but it is a good song..
@@Melody-bourbonite4life I've heard Fast Car. I listen to most of my music on Spotify and UA-cam. And I've got VERY eclectic taste so going through my liked songs playlist is a sure fire way to get musical whiplash!
I apologize... I was watching vids on TV and can't find on computer....but there is something I had to to say about you being repulsed by sugarlands song, "Stay". You do know cheaters lie about being single right? By the time one finds out they are hooked, lined, sunk, in a hot mess....not all CHOOSE!!!!! Have some open mind and open heart....And it takes times to get the emotional tools to get the hell out!!!!

Luke’s version is maybe my current favorite song. I’d LOVE to hear an Eric Church version.
This is one of my favorite Luke songs. It is not personal to him but he said he sang it because it spoke to him. Thanks guys.
Spoke to us too. - Keith
Lost my brother in February... When I first heard this song, the ending verse damn near took the breath out of me...

did you have a special song you would like to hear

Luke Combs is one of the few new artists I like. Amazing songwriter and singer.
I really love this song and Luke Combs! He is so great on so many levels. One of my favorites is Refrigerator Door by him.
This song isn't personal to Luke he's just a great performer. Song is written by Randy Montana who is and awesome song writer
Don't know anything about bourbon, but you guys should check out Jelly Roll and Craig Morgan singing Morgan's song 'Almost Home' live at the Grand Ole Opry.
It's better with just Craig
@@Jdwray12the song, yes. but as an experience the video with them both is awesome

You really feel his soul with "Fast Car", too.
I always took "American spirit" as he was a proud American & had no problem vocalizing it.
American Spirit is a brand of cigarette.

Wonderful reactions gentleman and one hell of a song from Mr Combs
Thanks!
Best story song ever!!! Way to go Luke!!! 🙌🙌
Can tell on his face when he in his video at the end when once he said he hit the guard rail at half past 3. Was tough for him to sing
I'm about 20 minutes from Cat Head Distillery. We got some of that sanitizer during covid. It smelled strongly of alcohol. We didn't taste it though.
This song floated Nashville for I believe about 6 years written by Randy Montana. Unbelievable song.

Another great but heavy Luke Combs song is Even Though I'm Leaving

When someone bribes y'all to do ole 60 don't start that "why has someone not requested this earlier". Brother Joe is a must
Do you guys ever do independent artists? They may not be so well known, and not a lot of views, but good music.
Was he reading lyrics from his phone?
It looked like it to me. - Keith
Funny he is wearing a sweater of the bike that lukes brother was driving
It’s was written by Dave Turnbull and Randy Montana. To my knowledge it was written about a true story.
It sounds like a true story, and Luke did a good job conveying the emotions in the song.
Agree. He did a great job with it. - Keith
