  • Many were hoping for a full redesign of Honda’s Mid-size truck, the Ridgeline, for the 2024 model year. While the full redesign did not come, the Ridgeline did see a refresh and the addition of a new trim level. In today’s Vehicle Visionary video, we will look at the new TrailSport trim level to see if it is the most versatile Ridgeline trim level.

    Awesome, but I was hoping for more off road capable , even passport has more ground clearance. I'll keep my 2020 a little longer with my traxda 2" lift kit

      how is the lift kit treating you. I heard some ridgelines don't like being lifted and it can throw off the driveshaft angle to where it might break

      @therues7071 so far no issues and driving dynamics change a bit but still far better ride on road than others

    I drove a 2023 Colorado before purchasing a 2024 Ridgeling RTL. No one in this area had a Trail Sport available. The Colorado was a very nice-looking pickup with a tech heavy interior. The 2.7L engine, the only one available, was very noisy inside at idle and low rpm. It was also cramped in width and the box was narrow.
    The Ridgeling, on the other hand, is more refined. Quiet with ample smooth power. Way more storage and you can haul a sheet of plywood in the bed. If you are a serious off-road person, no. But for a retired couple it is comfortable and easy to drive. I am not a fan of direct injection or variable cylinder management but that's how car manufactures deal with the EPA standards today. The AT tires are not as quiet or smooth as I would prefer, but not a serious problem. All vehicles are way to expensive today. Almost what I paid for my home 40 plus years ago. That's life. Live it or sit and look at it.

    Given that the bed is of composite material, is it possible to place a rail system? Similar to the utili-track system found in the Nissan Frontier or have a DIY rail system as in the Ford Macerick?

    I am a huge Ridgeline fan. We are buying at the end of 2024 and RL is the benchmark for judging all other mid-size trucks. I like the diffuse sky blue as well as the silver and the sonic gray pearl. Leaning toward TrailSport, but will consider the Black Edition. We tow a small camper (2,900 lbs) so the 5,000 lb tow rating is more than ample. I want 1500 lbs of payload for hauling camping gear. Lots of features with the RL.

      I got mine in February. Its a gray Trailsport and the only thing i miss on this trim is the outlet in the bed. its only available on the Black Edition but i didnt think the aggressive interior and color options would age well.

      If by benchmark you mean the floor level, sure. There is a reason Honda itself says this is an alternative to midsized trucks.

      @@elche1976 I need about 1500 lbs of payload for the hauling I do. The Ridgeline provides that. There are lots of mid-size truck that don’t. Given all of its features and its superior payload, it is my benchmark for what I need and what I am looking for in a midsize truck. It may be an alternative, but I will take that 1500 lbs of payload! ;)

      @@deanmay338 superior. 🤣😅🙄

      @@elche1976 Ok, I hear ya. I could have chosen a different word than superior. I have seen Rangers and the GM twins with 1500 to 1600 plus lbs of payload. However, I have seen many Tacomas and Frontiers with 900 to 1200 lbs of payload. LOL, how about “above average payload” or “very good payload” rather than superior regarding the Ridgeline? ;)

    As with many Honda models, not my first choice but certainly far from last. If I can get it at a good deal I could make it work.

      They shouldn't be calling this vehicle a pickup truck. It is very disrespectful to actual pickup truck owners 😂. I wanted to get one because of that bed storage and all wheel drhve but the price is almost or higher than tacoma so im not paying that price for a fake truck

      How is it a fake truck?

    • @jmanultra
      @jmanultra 2 місяці тому

      Correct. Real midsize trucks can’t fit adults in the back seat, can’t haul a child seat, ride poorly, and won’t last as long.
