- How to charge your #BMW remote key and how to replace Comfort Access #battery. There are two types of remotes: with and without Comfort Access feature (similar to keyless in VAG). The basic one does not have an option to replace the battery without damaging the key fob. The one with Comfort Access has a cover that you can remove to access and change the battery inside (size 2032).
The reason behind this is simple - each time you insert the key into ignition in your BMW, the battery is charged wirelessly by the electric coil inside the ignition. With the Comfort Access function you are not putting the remote into the ignition that often, so BMW decided that there will be a removable cover if you need to replace the battery.
This type of key is used in cars:

BMW X6 E71 E72
BMW Z4 E89
BMW 1-Series E81 E82 E87 E88
BMW 3-Series E90 E91 E92 E93
BMW 5-Series E60 E61

:)))) Notice to everyone. When you buy a new car, first check whether the spare is belong to the same car. My dealer mixed the fobs with another BMW that I was almost breaking my key fob to replace the battery. I only found out when I checked the key blades, as it came out different moulding...Thank me for this valuable info...

They both have rechargeable batteries. Like all batteries, they have a shelf life. Yet only showed how to change the battery of the key fob that is self explanatory and not the one that people are probably coming to your video to learn about (E87). Clickbait.
This is a CR2032 battery and not a ML2032 rechargable one. I'm not sure CR2032 can be recharged.
good video ! with the key remote acess can we put any battery with same reference ? but that mean any battery like this can be charged by the car ?
I'd like to know that, too, since I always thought a normal battery cannot be charged unless it is really meant to be chargeable...
Mine doesn’t come apart like this but it looks basically identical. It doesn’t have the cap that pops off. Not sure how to replace battery. It no longer charges or works.

hi, i have a question about the key without the comfort module. My series 1 key does not work remotely. I opened the car with the second key and put the "discharged" one in the ignition. Everything is fine, but after driving about 300 kilometers, the key still did not charge. Can I change the batteries in it somehow or keep trying to charge it? I know it's an old video but maybe you can answer 😅

I have the 87 problem, so so I can't change te battery? It's totally drained
I believe that there's a replacement battery for this key. But you need to damage the key fob to open it.

Some electric toothbrushes are using wireless charging docking stations. You can use that station to charge other things that are supporting wireless charing. Most likely the field is too weak to charge a phone, but should be enough to boost the remote.

The instrument Custer is saying to insert the key in the ignition to recharge it. How I will know that the battery is charging and not completely dead.
This is false. The battery eventually loses power and it doesn t recharge anymore. Also you need to remember to swap between you primary and reserve fobs to keep them charged every so often to avoid complete drainage

Pytanie jest następujące czy pod schowkiem znajduje się odpowiednia ilość miejsca ?
Boję się, że nie będzie miejsca na ten mechanizm chowania ekranu. Ale za to w Volvo C30/S40/V50 był inny, który nie potrzebuje tyle miejsca pod deską rozdzielczą.

My key is basic one non replacement battery key.
I’ve an issue sometimes when driving i hear 4 beeps while driving or at ideal condition.
And recently when i start my car its showing key battery sign(red one sign)
Can you pls tell me whats the issue ?

Since there's no message on the display I would guess that there's some kind of aftermarket device in the car. Dashcam, car alarm, bluetooth set... BMW doesn't beeeeep. There;s a gong (like seatbelt reminder).
Is there such device in your car?

Yea what happens when the battery doesn’t accept charge anymore left my key in the car running for two hours last night to no avail the moment I shut the car off and took the key out of the ignition it died smh

jesli mozesz pomoc bo nie wiem czy ktos u mnie nie wymienil na baterie zamiast na aku i teraz rouzumiem ze wkladanie klucza w stacyjke nie ma sensu gdyz bateria i tak sie nie naladuje?
a moze klucz comfort w ogole nie posiada cewki do ladowania baterii?
ja mam tan zwykły kluczyk i rozładowuje się niestety, wkładam go po czym naciskam jak do wyciągnięcia ale zostawiam go tam na 2-3h i jest naładowany.
Można kupić do niego nową baterię, ale przy rozbieraniu obudowy pilota prawdopodobnie się ją uszkodzi.

hi i have a bmw e87 1 series it opens the boot and unlocks but dont lock and the spare key opens the boot only whats the problem its chargeable keys fob

@@brokestudent8548 You can Open the Key by Cutting it in Half, order a New case from Amazon that you can open/close. Change the Battery. Assemble all of it in the proper way. Then put the key in the Ignition for a few Minutes and then Try to start the car. It should work and the key should be fine for another few Years to come. Yet dont do this if its your last Key because if you fail you are screwed
I changed the battery in bmw key and channels on radio dont come up as name anymore?
Radio presets (as well as seat memory, instrument cluster settings and few more things) are assigned to key that you are using. You can have separate set of adjustments assigned to each key.
If the key memory was lost, you will have to set your radio stations (and other settings) while using that key.
A jak otworzyć kluczyk od e87 ponieważ wcale nie reaguje. Jadąc 600km myślałem że się naładuje ale nic z tego. Padł całkiem.
Trzeba dookoła podważać/przecinać nożykiem. Prawdopodobnie obudowa nie przetrwa tego procesu i trzeba będzie kupić nową obudowę.

If the battery inside the key is still capable of charging, just put the key in the ignition and it will charge. If it's not, you need to replace the battery inside.

Jak to wygląda z częstotliwościami? Posiadam x5 e70 po liftowa zakodowalem kluczyk I niestety nie działa mi opcja zamykania i otwierania auta. Pozatym auto reaguje na kluczyk tz. Odpala.

Jeżeli dobrze się orientuję, to trzeba tylko aktywować pilota. Nie próbowałem, ale sprawdź.
Wykonać poniższe szybko:
0. Siadamy na miejscu kierowcy, drzwi zamknięte.
1. Włącz zapłon.
2. Wyłącz zapłon.
3. Naciśnij i przytrzymaj przycisk otwierania na pilocie.
4. Naciśnij 3 razy przycisk zamykania na pilocie
5. Puść przycisk otwierania na pilocie.
6. Sprawdź czy pilot działa.
