And in Roth’s case, Ed chose to do it in the early 70’s, and he did again in 2006, and he trusted that instinct all the way through until he passed. Eddie’s passing has hit me pretty hard, he has always been my favorite guitarist. It’s really been a somber time, 2020 has been a tough year. I never got to meet him but I saw VH in concert 11 different times in 4 different states over the years. - 7 times with David Lee Roth and 4 times with Sammy Hagar. Back in the days of General admission tickets, we would show up early and get front row. At the end of the Women and children first or the Fair warning tour concert Eddie reached over and handed me a guitar pick. I have it in our safe deposit box along with all my concert ticket stubs. I’m very grateful to have those memories of seeing VH in concert! Once after one of the concerts, we were waiting outside the backstage door and we saw Valerie Bertinelli with Eddie. We were probably 10 or 12 feet away but didn’t get to meet them, security kept everyone back. Even though there was only twenty or twenty five people there. Rest In Peace Edward Van Halen, you were one of a kind!
I did. The year was 1993. In front of the Palms. He was there hanging out with his female trainer, got an autograph. He was all smiles and congeniality. Still have that autograph somewhere....
I did also, I had my daughter with me she was nine months old and I wanted to ask him if I could take a picture of them together. I didn't even have to ask. As soon as he saw her he opened his arms and took her from me and played with her while I snapped pictures. It was back before digital cameras, so later that day I dropped the film off for one hour developing and waited impatiently. An hour later I went back to get the pictures praying to God that they came out good, I opened the envelope and I swear I couldn't believe what I saw. These were probably the best pictures ever taken with a 35 mm camera. There's one where she's basically chewing on the autograph he gave her another one just as she pulled his hat off his head and a bunch where he's just sitting with her holding her and smiling. He was fucking awesome with her. She's 23 now, and it was her that came into my room that morning with tears in her eyes and told me he was gone. He was definitely a class act, and as far as I'm concerned Dave just showed us that he is too ✌️

Wow!!! This song is so perfect for him ,he was the master of the strip back in the Gazzarri daze, only Dave can give us this brand of nostalgia. And kudos to John 5 who can play so many styles of music and gets to showcase more of his mellow ,folk and even country side more than he can w zombie.
"Hey Ed I'm gonna miss ya see you on the other side" This line is so bitter-sweet because in a weird way Eddies passing reminds all of us that someday all of =VH= will be long gone from our world, but they'll all be jamming together in the next life. Oh, even Cherone would be there too.

The greatest front man in Rock & Roll is Robert Plant.
@@mytimebox1 that would be a no.
@@mytimebox1 HE SAID AMERICAN........ROBERT PLANT IS ENGLISH
NO.......THAT WOULD BE MR TYLER OR MR SPRINGSTEEN
He's definitely up in the great territory. All of Van Halen made their mark. Dave was perfect with them.
Fantastic Dave !!! You've still got it !!!
Awesome new song Dave thanks for putting this out😃, I hope you are doing good
Eddie’s passing has hit me pretty hard, he has always been my favorite guitarist.
Kleo Patra Very cool!!!!!!
Things will get better brother. Stay positive, there always is a light at the end of the tunnel
He was definitely a class act, and as far as I'm concerned Dave just showed us that he is too ✌️
Those general admission shows were insane! Fair Warning tour.....❤
Awesome more tears! We were so lucky to be born in the times of Dave n Ed. Love this song. Thank you Dave
Absolutely Amazing. Thank You So Much Diamond Dave. I’m crying again Please RIP Brother Edward I’m So Sad. But this New Song gave Me A Smile 😃. Thank You Dave For All The Good Times. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
4 decades later (since the 80s) and still Jamming to you Dave, Love it!
The greatest front man in my humble opinion.
Always behind ya David. True artistic genuine spirit.
Dont care about all the debate over the years DLR was,is and always will be in my eyes the ONLY frontman of VH.A man of huge talent and intelligence. Just keeps on entertaining!!!! love him and always will!
catherine thompson couldn’t say it any better. Same way I feel , felt and always will.
I'm so happy you finally released one of the songs you recorded with John Lowery! And it's a lovely tribute to Edward. The two of you created something special, David, that will NEVER be duplicated. So hard to accept that we'll never see that again. I pray your soul is healing. I love you. ❤
He’s released two other songs from these sessions.
Diamond Dave and Eddie are the best!🎸🎤🇺🇲👍🤩
Do it brotha!!! Good times never die in our minds.. see you on the other side indeed.
So refreshing... Different and yet still has David lee Roth vibe coming through strong! Voice sounds crisp.
Are you kidding? It's the best DLR solo song EVER
This is not current DLR...song was recorded pre different kind of truth if im not mistaken
@@SkidRowBrazil I was going to say you're wrong but......YOU'RE RIGHT. I read it on ultimateclassicrock.com.
Those were good times. Damn good times
We love you,Dave!
This song is in a category of its own. Simply a meaning beyond it's lyrics. Thank you Dave.
He's Back !!!!
A song can be medicine for the body, soul, and mind. Thank you for the dosage Dr.Diamond Dave.
Crazy how music touches you so much. Van Halen forever. The best music ever! Rest In Peace Eddie!! Wish I could’ve met you. You are my inspiration!
Rip Ed, you’ve gave me back my hope in life. Thank you
Such a touching tribute to Eddie, I got a little teary eyes listening to it. Dave, Eddie, Alex and Michael put out the best music of their time and they were such a kick ass band. I never got to see the original lineup but to anyone who saw them live in the 70-80’s, consider yourselves the lucky ones and cherish those memories the rest of your lives. R.I.P. Eddie.
I saw them many times and you did miss out. Wish you could have been there with me. We would have had a great time.
Yeah Dave! Always the lyrical genius. And yes indeed you did win the Super Bowl 7 times, a helluva achievement!
Wow!!! This song is so perfect for him ,he was the master of the strip back in the Gazzarri daze, only Dave can give us this brand of nostalgia. And kudos to John 5 who can play so many styles of music and gets to showcase more of his mellow ,folk and even country side more than he can w zombie.
I keep going back to this song....good medicine
That was beautiful.
No matter what anybody says David Lee Roth loved Eddie Van Halen like a Brother RIP EDDIE✌😚 Pick up the pieces Dave and keep on rocking that's what Eddie would want👍🎤🎸
Actual music with words that tell a story and a melody? In 2020? Is it even possible? ❤️😊🍻✌🏻
It isn't even auto-tuned!
Thats the DLR tradition
Hes a genius
How can he sound like this in a studio and totally suck live?
When and where is this track from?!!!
Diamond Dave 💎 one of the best!!!
He truly is.
My ❤ IS FULL.
Greatest frontman ever!
The three songs that he’s previewed from the john5 solo album have been his best stuff since EEAS and SS. His voice was in great shape as it was recorded just off the 07-08 tour.
February 25th 1984 went number 1 with jump on my 17th birthday...your favorite band has one number one song and it just so happens to go number 1 on my birthday...😎
