I mean in Europe there were a lot of singers and bands who didn't use their real voices such as Baltimore, Fun Fun and many others from Italo Disco. Besides Morvan and Pilatus's voices sounded better than the ones of many singers in the present days.
Hell, Farian even stole the damn song from a Baltimore Rap group called Numarx, look it up. They heard it on the radio when it already was a worldwide hit and recognized it as their own song.
Their record label legally gave Farian the rights to cover the song. Performers covered songs all the time and the songwriters make money off of that. Music is a business.
Fab don't sound all too bad at all and not majorly different from the original version, Rob would've needed a lot of singing lessons vocal teaching but could've worked if time was put into them vocally. RIP Rob
Fab Morvan was like 90% close to the original. Rob Pilatus clearly wasn't up there..either in vocal skills or in terms of his accent. Keep in mind they selected this part of their demos to show they could sing...the rest of it was likely even worse.
