I would actually say it’s a confusion in terms. “Spontaneous“ is just what we call it when we don’t have an explanation for its death. The reality is there was a chromosomal issue or an environmental issue, or a trauma or something like that that caused the fetus to die. Which means it was alive. But it wasn’t “spontaneous.“ it’s only as spontaneous as the death of someone in their 50s or their 80s because of a car accident or cancer or Alzheimer’s.
